Welcome Short Sided Soccer for Division 5!
This season, each Division 5 soccer game (girls and boys) will be played in an 8 verus 8 format. This means there will be a total of eight players on a side (seven field players and one goalie) while playing the game. The field size will be smaller for the 8 v 8 games.
The 8 v 8 format will enhance each of our young player's soccer abilities. With fewer players on the field each player will touch the ball more frequently. Since there are fewer players on the field they will have to perform both offensive and defensive ball skills frequently during match play. Improving ball skills is the main objective with the Division 5 age group.
The game will take on a quick pace from end to end of the field. No player will be able to “hang out” while someone else defends or attacks for that player. The game will always be near each player and they will be almost continuously involved in the action. Everyone will be more involved in the game!
Hawthorne Soccer is looking forward to the added benefits to our Division 5 players this season from the 8 v 8 format. Parents and fans should also see a faster paced and more exciting game.
The 11 versus 11 format will continue for Divisions 2, 3 and 4.
REFEREES NEEDED FOR FALL SEASON................

IS LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD REFS
Needed:
Residents 14 years of age or older to referee Saturdays and/or Sundays at Hawthorne Soccer Association home games during September - November.
You Will be Paid per Game
Certification Requirements:
Referee certification from Northwest Bergen Soccer Association - a five-night course and test requirement.
Cost:
NO CHARGE for certification class
