10U KNIGHTS TRIPLE CROWN

– RENO TOURNAMENT FRIDAY

- JUNE 29th to SUNDAY JULY 1st

Overview

This will be our major trip for 2012. This will be the first time we’ve traveled out of state together. Our general program for a trip like this is that we run a “team itinerary” that begins the afternoon/evening of the day before the first game and concludes after the tournament is over. Usually we select a “team” outbound flight, and then we allow the families to come back on their own schedule. In this case, since Reno is a drivable distance for some, and a few families have indicated an interest in driving, we will support that option as well. Therefore, we will have a “suggested” team flight on the outbound, but we will just select a time on 6/28 to begin the “team itinerary” and everyone will be responsible for arriving in Reno to make that time.

Games begin on 6/29 – we will likely play 2 games that day. We will start our team itinerary on Thursday 6/28 at approximately 400pm. We will have a light team practice, have a team dinner that night after practice (with families), and then a team meeting at the hotel before lights out.

From the time the tournament ends on Sunday 7/1, we will be taking off from 7/2 until 7/5 to allow families to extend their trips into NV / CA, etc. if that is part of your plans. We will be playing in a tournament in West Seattle the following weekend 7/6 to 7/8. We will ask for “no game” on 7/6, but that will be questionable as to whether that can be accomplished or not.

If any player is going to be making the trip without parents travelling, we will have to make arrangements for medical releases and for lodging, etc. to make sure we have everything covered, please let me know if this is the case.

Lodging

  • A complimentary Full Breakfast is served every morning.
  • Thursday evening is a Complimentary "Light" meal/snack - but this is the night of our scheduled Team dinner. Complimentary washer/dryer are available, we need to bring detergent.
  • Texas Road House or Lamp Post Pizza (a local restaurant with arcade and tvs) are very close for team dinner. Hotel is south of Reno, about 30 minutes to the Golden Eagle complex.

Air Travel

After researching the available flights, it appears that the following flights are the best option for the outbound team flight(s). This will get us non-drivers into Reno well ahead of our team plans at 400pm and allow us to get checked in and settled. If you have another option that will allow you to travel to Reno that is significantly cheaper, please feel free to make your own arrangements. In the future when we go to Cooperstown, we will require the players to travel together for the camaraderie and experience that goes with such a fun trip. In this case we can be more flexible.

June 28th

Alaska Airlines Flight # 2257 Depart - Seattle 10:05am Arrive - Reno 12:05pm Bombardier 400 (76 seat plane) $131 one way at this time June 28th

Southwest Airlines Flight # 2779 Depart – Seattle 10:30am Arrive – Reno 12:10pm Boeing 737 (137seat plane) $131 one way at this time. Warning possible bag loss and delayed arrival

Please make arrangements for your own return flights as your own travel plans dictate. We are not certain of the time of the Championship game time on Sunday afternoon/evening. I would suggest caution booking return flights on Sunday before 800pm, if at all, the last Alaska Airlines flight leaves at 530pm.

The Tournament

The tournament is already lining up to be exactly what we are looking for in terms of a high quality 10 year old event. The rules allow for leading off and will be a great challenge for our boy’s playing teams from outside of our state on more of a national level. This is a 2nd year event and should be well travelled. We like the number of California teams that are already on the board. Here is a current list of the teams planning to attend the event. Here is the link to the tournament home page if you want to check it out first hand: Triple Crown

10's

  • B P Thunder (CA)

  • DBA Crushers (CA)
  • Federal Way Knights (WA)

  • Tabu (CA)
  • Temecula Irish (CA)

Questions Please let us know if you have any questions pertaining to the trip. Hopefully this will help put your hands around most of the details for the trip. We will have one or two short meetings prior to the trip to make sure we are all on the same page.

Thanks

SuperBash Tournament

Posted by Jacob Taylor at May 21, 2012 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Knights –

We have our weekend draw for the Memorial Day tournament. (attached and summarized below) Here is everything you should need for the week.

THURSDAY We are off – we have players with spring team conflicts and it’s likely that there will be other games that night.

FRIDAY We are going to practice – weather permitting, we do not have a Friday night game.   COMPLEX 500pm to 700pm Normal practice uniform

TOURNAMENT LOCATION

DIRECTIONS

Perfect location for the family: Walking distance to Green Lake for all kinds of activities. Woodland Park Zoo is just stone's throw away. Just a few minutes from Downtown Seattle

SATURDAY – GAMES   Pool Game 1 North Seattle TNT Arrive 800am Game 900am White Pants / Blue Tops / Orange Hat

Pool Game 2 Born to Play Redhawks (Likely many members of Kent LL 9-10 AS Team) Arrive 330pm Game 430pm White Pants / Blue Tops / White Hat

Our biggest issue is a long layover on Saturday, and a very good opponent on Saturday night.  If you stay up in Seattle and watch other Knights teams playing, go to the lake, park or zoo, etc., please make sure that the boy’s reasonably stay rested, eat well, etc.

SUNDAY – GAMES

Pool Game 3 City Baseball White Arrive 1030am Game 1130am Grey Pants / blue tops / tricolor hat

Playoff Game – Quarterfinals TBD Seeds 1/8    230pm Seeds 4/5    230pm Seeds 2/7    500pm Seeds 3/6    730pm Arrive one hour early Grey Pants / Blue Tops / White Hat with Stripes

MONDAY

TBD Consolation        900am Consolation        1130am Semi                      200pm Semi                      200pm Champ                  430pm Arrive one hour early Grey Pants / Grey Tops / Blue Hats

SUPPORT  THE  KNIGHTS !!! It should be a great weekend of baseball in the Seattle with many great traditional tournaments taking place in the region.  Most of our other teams are playing in the Seattle area this weekend.  If you have time (depending on how our schedule plays out) to support another Knights team and watch what’s to come for these boys as they grow up..
