State Senator Toby Stavisky Kicks Off Little League Season

Saturday April 17th was the 51st opening day for The Forest Hills Little League, with Chairman Abe Miller at the helm for 48 of those years. J.R. Nocerino, Vice Chairman of the Forest Hills Youth Activity Association emceed, and also arranged a mother – daughter exhibition softball game afterwards.
The Forest Hill American Legion’s Continental Post color guard opened the ceremony leading us with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner, followed by “Little Leaguers” reciting the “Little League Pledge”.
Notables State Senator Toby Stavisky and Councilwoman Melinda Katz threw out “game balls” to kick off our season, welcomed by Larry Berkowitz, Chairman of the FHYAA, who oversees the numerous sports programs at the Fleet Street Fields.
The fun continued with the mother daughter softball game, when Barbara Stuchinski, the President of the Forest Hills Civic Association, threw the opening pitch. J.R. Nocerino, umpired which culminated in a ten – ten tie.
