In alphabetical order: Morgan Alaband, RHP, Escondido, Sr. Needs more run support after going 9-9 with a 1.43 ERA last year. Nikki Barba, 2B, Mt. Carmel, Sr. Will have to ignite an offense that lost a lot of pop through graduation. Milan Botte, C-1B, Cathedral Catholic, Jr. Drove in school-record 33 runs last year. Jessica Chappell, RHP, Tri-City Christian, Sr. With run support, she could lead Eagles to league title. Christina Clermont, RHP, San Marcos, So. Committed to Syracuse after 13-10 season with 1.61 ERA as a freshman. Kaylie Drew, RHP-3B, Fallbrook, Jr. Is a double threat in the pitching circle and at the plate. Tianalia Fa'asua, C, Oceanside, Sr. Could be ready for a breakout season. Amanda Guse, RHP-SS, Escondido Charter, Sr. Topped team with .403 batting average last year. Lauren Hynes, LHP-1B, Torrey Pines, Jr. One of the most dangerous with the bat and the glove. Madison Jones, RHP, Rancho Bernardo, Sr. With Laura Winter gone, the circle belongs to her. Maren Lebsock, SS, San Pasqual, Jr. Speed is Eagles' game, but Lebsock hit .337 in 2010. Sasha Margulies, C, Westview, Jr. After a .437 season, she could be even better. Madeline McIntyre, SS, Rancho Bernardo, Sr. One of the most feared hitters in North County. Rachel Nasland, RHP, Torrey Pines, So. Avo's pitcher of the year as a freshman. Erica Navarette, RHP, Mission Hills, Sr. Should be better than 14-10 with a 1.83 ERA this year. Tori Nirschl, CF, Carlsbad, Jr. Will be a dangerous hitter after batting .359 as 10th grader. Brenna Parker, RHP, Vista, Sr. Will need to be perfect as Panthers struggle for runs. Alexis Ramirez, 1B, San Marcos, Jr. Twice an all-leaguer, she bashed pitchers at a .398 clip last season. Angie Randazzo, C, Poway Should slow teams from running on the Titans. Lexi Slater, SS, Ramona, Sr. Steadily drives in runs and hits home runs for Bulldogs. Beth Smetana, CF-C, Cathedral Catholic, Sr. Hit .410 in 2010 and could be Dons' best run producer of all-time. Hayley Steele, SS, Poway, Sr. ASU-bound slugger hit .369 last season. Kayla Wartner, C-1B, Escondido, Sr. Lefty is headed to Hawaii after hitting .373 as a junior. Bree Williams, RHP, Mt. Carmel, Sr. Was 28-3 and led Sundevils to CIF title in 2010. Tonia Wu, RHP, San Dieguito Academy, So. Might be best combo with .392 average and 1.60 ERA. -- Terry Monahan |
