River Cats 4, Storm Chasers – 3/24/12River Cats drowned the Storm Chasers in six innings at the OVLL Minor A Field. Storm Chasers claimed an early lead but solid plate appearances by Luke Adelman, Micah Blake, Vincent Caiazzo, Ryan Esqueda, and Dominic Ventimiglia racked up hits for the River Cats. Ventimiglia faced three batters in relief, while Blake managed to record three outs to aid victory. Caiazzo led the team with two hits.Correspondent Martha Ventimiglia

Scrappers vs. Bees - 3/21/12 (no score)
The Scrappers came ready to play, and this sharp outfit made many fine plays in the field, including an amazing double play that looked like it had been produced by a high school team, not a pair of 7-8 year olds. This play left the crowd buzzing, and Ezra Treskes and Sam Shuart helped their team at the plate as well.
For the Bees, Ari Wallace and Sean Carlin had strong days at the plate, and Kyle Donoho was the hero with some impressive hits and a very nice catch while playing centerfield. Carlin and Donoho each were given "game balls" to acknowledge their performance.

It was a great baseball game Saturday as the Mud Hens took on the Knights. Both teams had solid defense. Mud Hens showed solid pitching lead by Chance DiMarco, Kyle Roeder, Nick Skorheim and Thomas Williams. No score on the board until the bottom of the third inning as Thomas Williams gets a key single. Kyle Roeder is walked and manages to get home on a grounder by Chance DiMarco, score now 2-0. Bottom of the fourth, Mud Hens pick up momentum with singles by Nate Skorheim, Zack Pratte, Kyle Roeder, bringing the score 6 to 0. Top of the fifth, Knights fire back and rally with big hits from Valle & Wilson and take in 5 runs total. Mud Hens get their defensive team back on the field and hold them to take the victory 6 to 5.Correspondent Laurie Skorheim
Mets 14, Naturals 9 – 3/24/12Scoreboard operators were busy at Minor B on Saturday, 3/24/12, as the Mets and Naturals combined for 23 runs. Mets eventually won the offensive battle 14-9 in five innings. The two teams combined for 19 hits in the game. The Mets scored five runs in the first inning to build an early lead. The Mets' Myles Lopez was perfect at the dish going 2-2. Lopez singled in the second and fourth innings. Pierce Vitrano had a strong game at the plate for Naturals. Vitrano went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. Vitrano singled in the third and fifth innings. The Mets easily handled Naturals’ pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored. The Mets ran wild on the basepaths, finishing with 10 steals. Lucas Flynn, Ryan Idnani, Dylan Uerling, and Miles Elliott each had one stolen base and Lopez, Jack Jernigan, and Antonio Ventimiglia each had two stolen bases. Elliott threw two innings of scoreless ball for the Mets. The Mets tacked on another four runs in the third. Elliott's single got things going, scoring Ventimiglia. That was followed up by a groundout by Idnani that scored Joseph Gentilella. The Mets piled on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The inning looked promising, as Jernigan singled, plating Lopez to kick things off. Strong pitching by Ben McConnell of the Rockies, striking out 4 of 6 batters in the first 2 innings.Strong pitching by Brad Monroe of the Orioles, striking out 4 batters in the first 2 innings. Game started with Cole Minato hitting a single, and scoring the first run for the Rockies in the first inning.Minato singled again in the 3rd, scoring the 2nd run for the Rockies in the top of the 3rd inning.Orioles tie it up in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-run RBI by Danny Duarte, bringing in Ryan Welander and Elijah Blake.Rockies come back strong in the 4th with a nice triple and RBI by Matthew Anderegg, scoring Hunter Custodio. Soon followed by a single RBI by Noah Hickman, scoring Anderegg, leading and holding the 4th inning at 4-2. The Orioles hold the Rockies in the top of the 5th inning and then come back with a vengance in the bottom of the 5th. Brad Monroe starts it with a Double, soon followed by a single RBI by Kyle Newman, scoring Brad Monroe. With a couple walks, the Orioles have bases loaded. Elijah Blake with a Single, 2-run RBI, scores Grant Brehm and Kyle Newman and gives the Orioles a 5-4 lead.With Landen Hill on the mound, the Orioles hold the Rockies in the top of the 6th inning and are victorious with a 5-4 win.Correspondent Rachel Blake
