Playoffs -5/21/11  Majors Division:  Rockies 3  Phillies 1
By Matthew Kovach
"Rockies Defeat Phillies 3-1."
Rockies coach Eric Ziegler told his team that their 3-1 victory over the Phillies in the 1st round of the OVLL playoffs was a "gift from the baseball gods". The gift, however, came from Rockies right hander Justin Cianca who dominated the Phillies by throwing 4 scoreless innings while striking out 7 batters along the way. Cianca got it done with the bat as well, breaking a scoreless tie in the top of the 4th by roping a single that would plate Brendan Wallace giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead. Jake Volo's RBI double in the top of the 5th gave the Rockies the only other run the they'd need as they as they advanced in winners bracket of the 2011 OVLL Majors playoffs.

by: Laurie Skorheim
The Minor B Mets and the SeaDogs went head to head on Thursday night battling until the end. Tristan Kennedy had a double play in the first inning. The SeaDogs had some great hits and were up by 6 in the third inning. The Mets rallied in the bottom of the fourth, a single by Kennedy and a couple walks put the Mets back in the game as Lucas Pantel, Sean Headley, Edison Chui & Danny Gallardo were all able to make it home on stolen bases. The score was tied 8 to 8 in the top of the sixth, Jimmy Campbell caught a line drive to end the inning and put the Mets back up to bat. In the end, it was Sean Headley hitting a single to walkoff with the win for the Mets. Final score, Mets 9, SeaDogs 8.

by:  Laurie Skorheim
It was do or die for the Mets on Saturday and they went up against the Diamond Jaxx. Danny Gallardo was first up to the mound for the Mets didn't allow any runs in the first inning. Tristan Kennedy and Lucas Pantel were able to score in the bottom of the first to get the Mets on the board. But the Diamond Jaxx were there to play, scoring 5 runs in the top of the second and again in the top of the 3rd. Nicholas Skorheim and Edison Chiu both had RBI's for the Mets in the 4th. The Diamond Jaxx were strong defensively and in the end took the game. Final score Diamond Jaxx 14, Mets 5.

5/14/11 Minor C Division:  Scappers vs. Raptors (no score kept)

by: Kathy Melvin

The Raptors set the tone for the game with strong hitting in the top of the first inning.  A double hit by Raptors Quinn Ortiz brought in two runs, while the Scrappers had three hits before a double play by Ortiz and James Kent stopped them short of crossing home plate.   Solid hitting continued on both sides, with Raptors Kent, Riley Bradley and Luke Melvin all running the bases.  Pop flies were caught by the Scrappers Jackson Potter, and Owen Sideris of the Raptors who made a double play at first base, and the final out in the game.

Making their pitching debut for the Raptors were Jaden Moore and Ryan Bandy, while Jack McKelvey, Carson Jones and Jack Rockefeller rounded out the pitching lineup.

5/21/11 Farm Division:  Sun Devils vs. Anteaters (no score kept)
by:  Kevin Carlin
In the final farm matchup of the year, the Sun Devils and Anteaters squared off in a great game.  Andrew Bentley had several nice hits, and Sebastian Aparicio made a great catch at pitcher for the Anteaters.  For the Sun Devis, Roman Cianca pounded the ball with regularity as did Kaelyn Arnold and Matt and Nick Severin.   Cianca added a nice double play from third to first as well.   Great game for both teams, as they  now move from farm division to Minor C.
