Minor A, River Cats 9, Express 5, 4/21/12

River Cats outlasted Express on 4/21/12 after five lead changes, squeaking out a 9-5 win at the OVLL Minor A field.

 River Cats finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. The Cats went up for good on an RBI single by Vincent Caiazzo off Noah Lacy, plating Dominic Ventimiglia. Caiazzo went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the River Cats. Four relief pitchers finished off the game for the Rivercats. Ventimiglia faced five batters in relief, while Micah Blake managed to record three outs to aid the victory.Rivercats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Rivercats' threat began with a single by Caiazzo.

Then a steal of home by Blake scored Blake. Rivercats pushed more runs across when Caiazzo scored on an RBI single by Paul Wagner.Express scored three runs of its own in the first on a groundout by Ballinas, a passed ball, and an error. Express got one-run rallies in the third inning and the fifth. In the third, Express scored on an error, scoring Jason Gagnon.Rivercats tacked on another three runs in the fourth. A sacrifice fly scored Ivan Soto to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Ventimiglia's double, bringing home Blake.Express scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut its deficit to three. A passed ball set off a Express rally. Finally, Ventimiglia got Gagnon to strike out to end the threat.

What I will miss about OVLL: I will miss all my friends and my coaches from all my past teams.
Fondest memory at OVLL: Scrimmaging the 2011 All-star team and when coach Jose carried after my walk off hit on the River cats.
Message to OVLL: I had a great time playing baseball and I want to thank all my coaches.
