2006 Tournament Results

Posted by Eric Rosenquist at Jun 25, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Congratulations to Murray's Refrigeration who defeated Condominium Management Group 5-1 in the "A" final, and to Kanata Sports Club who defeated RBC Investments 8-7 in the "B" final. To see individual game results, go to the Schedules section of the web site and select "2006 Tournament" as the Season. Tim Power (State Farm) won the home run derby on Saturday afternoon, hitting an impressive 5 home runs in 10 swings during the final round. For a moment it looked like there would be a two or three-way swing-off to determine a winner, with Shawn Simzer (Amsted) and Scott Jessiman (Murray's) both tied with three home runs before Tim stepped up to the plate. Thanks to all who participated, and to Al Read (Restore-All) and Mike Vandenberg (CMG) who organized the derby. A big thanks to the Carp I4C Victory team from the Greater Ottawa Fastball League for running the BBQ behind diamond #1 on Saturday and Sunday, and to all of the players who helped out by looking after league equipment or picking up garbage. Thanks also to David Boyle and his staff at The Broadway Bar & Grill for hosting our pub night on Friday, to Labatts for the t-shirts and beer glasses they donated, and to James Smith (CMG) from LaBarge Weinstein for donating the keg that was raffled off on Friday night.

2006 GCMFL Tournament

Posted by Eric Rosenquist at Jun 17, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Our annual league tournament is this coming weekend, June 23-25th. All games are at the Bridlewood Core Park diamonds. Core Park is in the Bridlewood section of Kanata, on the southwest side of the Stonehaven / Bridgestone intersection. See the "Locations" section of the web site for a map, and "Schedules" or "Calendar" for the game times. For games at diamond #2, there’s a new parking lot off Bridgestone just behind and beside the diamond. Turn south onto Bridgestone from Stonehaven and look for a small entrance just past the soccer fields. The #2 parking lot wasn’t there last season, so for games at diamond #2 you had to park at #1 and lug your stuff all the way over. For those that haven’t been to Core Park before, the entrance to the parking lot for diamond #1 is off Stonehaven just across from the Broadway, just on the east edge of the skateboard park. Friday night is our tournament pub night, held at the Broadway Bar & Grill just across from Core Park. Each team will get some food and beverages courtesy of the league, and we'll do our usual 50-50 draw. The Carp I4C Victory team from the intermediate league will be running a BBQ at the Core Park diamonds over the weekend. Most of the team members play in the GCMFL, so buy a couple of burgers or sausages from them and help them raise money to attend tournaments.
