Regular Season Play

Posted by Brendan Fitzgerald at Dec 8, 2008 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

CTR's regular season play consists of games with neighboring little leagues within a 15 mile drive. All players are involved, not just “all-star” or singled out “Travel Teams”. This will allow all children to develop their talents with the best in the area. This includes a 12 mile gallivant outside the state into Virginia against Clarke County's finest.

Try-outs start the season off for children 8 years and older to evaluate their abilities in order to place them in the proper development stage/division. The dates for the try-outs are March 7th and 8th from 8am to 12pm. All players 8 and older must attend at least one try-out. If the player does not attend a try-out session, he or she will be placed in the lowest level of play for their age group until (????) an assessment is made. Players may show up anytime during the time frame and will be walked through a series of stations. This should take no longer than 45 minutes and you will be on your way. The try-outs will be held in the Ranson Civic Center.

Practice starts on March 9th for the Triple (A) division and higher, while the lower levels of Double (A), Single (A) and T-ball will start the following week of March 16th. Before the season starts, your child will practice two times during the week and once on Saturday. T-ball practice is once during the week and once on Saturdays.

Opening Day Ceremonies are scheduled for April 4th at 9am. We have planned lots of fun and excitement for the family so invite your extended family to take part in this event. The Mayors of Charles Town and Ranson take part in throwing out the first pitch to start our season off.

The season consists of 21 major league games against our area teams as well as the best teams from neighboring little leagues. The Triple (A) division plays 16-18 games while the lower levels play fewer.  T-ball only plays once a week and all t-ball games are played on Saturdays.

Regular season play ends on June 6th.

The first floor will be brick, matching the dugouts on field A & B, with green 8 inch vertical siding for the top floor. Steal security windows have been installed as will be security doors for the entrances, rest rooms and the storage room. Next to be installed is the roof for the patio. Check back for more updates.
