News and Announcements
2016 TENAFLY SPRING TRAVEL TEAMS:
URGENT: PLEASE READ BELOW:
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE AS THERE IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING REGISTRATION THROUGHOUT THIS NOTICE ESPECIALLY AFTER THE TEAM SELECTIONS BELOW:
First, we want to thank each and every child who tried out for Travel Baseball this season.
We understand that these are young children and everyone develops differently and we feel we gave them every opportunity by striving to make it an even playing field for all candidates. Unfortunately, the most difficult part of this entire process was making some very difficult decisions in forming our teams. Travel baseball consists of very competitive teams and unfortunately not all of our young and promising players who tried out can be asked to participate on a team. We hope and encourage that all the kids who were not chosen for a team continue to play baseball with their friends and continue to work to improve their skills and consider coming back to try out for the next Travel Season.
For the 2016 Spring Travel Season, Tenafly will be fielding teams at the following levels:
8U – Kid Pitch 1 team
9U 1 team
10U 2 teams
11U 2 teams
12U 1 team
13U 1 team
14U 1 team
We are proud to announce that Tenafly Little League has again contracted with Muggeo Baseball and Frank Salvano this Spring to provide all our players in our Travel Program professional training and coaching for the entire season and all games. This level of training/coaching and access to facilities is on par with regional club teams.
Travel registration fees will incorporate the cost of this professional training for the season.
Coaches and Volunteers are vital to the success of our Travel Program. If you are interested in coaching, please reach out to the league at info@tenaflylittleleague.com or matt.wasserlauf@gmail.com.
ALL COACHES MUST BE REGISTERED IN COMMUNITY PASS AS A COACH AS WELL AS BE FINGERPRINTED. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. THIS IS A TOWN ORDINANCE. NO COACH WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE THE FIELD IF THE ABOVE IS NOT COMPLETED AND CLEARED.

WELCOME TO TENAFLY TRAVEL BASEBALL
GENERAL:
Tenafly Travel Baseball is a great opportunity for our kids who are seeking a more competitive baseball experience while at the same time represent our Tenafly community with class and pride. The goal of the Tenafly Travel Program is to increase player skill development in a more competitive environment. Because of the increased competitiveness of our travel teams, the Tenafly Travel Program is intended for players who have a higher level of interest in the sport and are prepared to dedicate more time for practices and games.
Games are played in the Spring and Summer and may or may not interfere with Town Recreation. Tryouts will be conducted in both the Spring and Summer Travel Seasons, resepectively for each season. If you are interested in trying out for a Spring Travel Team, please check the box "interested in travel" when registering for recreation baseball.
COMMITMENT:
Travel Baseball requires a significant commitment on both the player and his/her family. Players are expected to be at all of the practices and games throughout the season. For kids playing multiple sports during the season, we ask that baseball takes priority. Please note that there is an additional cost associated with Travel Baseball as team fees are not included in the general recreation registration fees. This feel will cover the cost of the league entry fee, umpires and uniforms etc... We ask that you consider your ability to make this commitment before trying out.
COACHES:
All of our coaches are volunteers and not professional coaches. Our goal is to continue to develop players, teach baseball skills and most importantly let the kids play the game of baseball and have fun. Coaches will not be chosen until after the travel teams are selected.
DEVELOPMENT:
Our goal is to continue to develop players, teach baseball skills and most importantly let the kids play the game of baseball and have fun. The ultimate goal is make sure that each player is better at the end of the season than they were at the beginning. To assist in the development of all our travel players, Tenafly Little League has contracted with Muggeo Baseball and Softball to provide each our travel teams 1.5 hours per week of professional training for the entire season. We started this program in the Fall of 2013 with great success and have expanded it to our Spring and Summer Travel Seasons in addition to the Fall.
ELIGIBILITY:
In order to be eligible to play Tenafly Travel Baseball, you must be registered and participate in at least 75% of your teams games in Tenafly’s Little League Baseball Recreation Program. If you are not registered in the town recreation program, you will NOT be eligible to tryout and participate in Tenafly’s Travel Program.
If you are interested in the 2014 Tenafly Travel Program, please register for travel tryouts when registering for recreation as all future correspondence will go to those who sign up and register for the travel tryouts.
If you should have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the baseball field.
