Game #4 vs Cubs (15-1, 4-0)
Game ball goes to all the Giant Families: Burt, Acosta, Akey, Chambers, Gori, Goodell, Hill, Jones, O’Brien, Gold, Scicluna, McCoy and of course to the Fishers.
[Player Game Ball: Jimmy Jet (2-3, RBI) 4-3 defensive play]
Game #3 vs Tigers (15-4, 3-0)
If you know me by now I'm a fan of Defense and the team sure came to play with 10 put outs for the evening ... Blake and his awareness at SS to tag the runner headed for 3rd ... Cameron A with a couple of key plays at 2nd and great backing up 1st from RF ... Jimmy getting his glove "dirty" and staying with the play forcing the out at 2nd ...
But what gets me more excited than Defense? How about record breaking plays ... yep, I'm pretty sure we all witnessed one tonight. Anthony "Mouth" Acosta single handingly recorded three unassisted outs at 1b ..... in one inning ..... ONE INNING I said!! And that's why this game goes to Mouth (and I'm sure you will all hear about it at dinner, school tomorrow, practice, school Thursday .... and Easter). But he can tell me this story over and over and it will never get old ... good "hands" Anthony!
Keep it going G-men and G-parents ... if it means you have to wear the same clothes without washing them ... so be it!
Game #2 vs Dodgers (11-10, 2-0)
Somebody told me this was a great game ... I had to ask because my eyes were closed half the time! This one was off the hook going back and forth until the nail biter ended at a wild 11-10 final. Wow what a game, and if word gets out we might be able to charge admission the next time the Giants and Dodgers square off … maybe parking too!
Offensive fireworks were a plenty … Tyler continuing his hitting streak going 4-4 with a shot to LF … Cameron A again crushing the ball 3-4 … Austin and Fisher reaching base all three trips… Nick O, Colin, Blake all 3-4 … Nick G getting his due (and finally decent pitching) with a nice bases loaded hit … Joshua and his solid 2-3 … Jimmy doing his Jimmy Thing getting a great base knock after taking it to a full count … Dave getting a hit in the 5th inning, scoring the tying run … and Anthony 3-4 with the game winning walk off hit … but was it enough for Game Ball?
Everyone sure did smack the ball around and contributed offensively .... so I had to turn to Defense to find our game ball winner … should it be Austin’s pop out grab at Catcher? SS Tyler’s fly ball out doubling the runner at 1st? Colin’s out after out …. after out? Nick O’s nice catch at SS? Nick G’s incredible and many assists at 1st base, especially late in the game coming off the bag to catch the off throw and getting the out? Man this is tough … but after really looking at this game closely I have to go with a momentum changing play … you know the one I’m talking about … Mr. Delightful Double-Play Dave ... and his LF pop fly running catch and continuing to 3rd for the unassisted double play was game changing … yeah that’s right, Game Changing Double Play Dave is his new name, and he definitely deserves the Game Ball … no doubt about it!
But hats off to the Dodgers … they came out swinging and played very tough. Maybe this rivalry can trickle down to the Single "A" little league level … as it should be :o)
Say it with me now … hummmmmmMMMMMM BABY!!!!!
Game #1 - vs Phillies (8-2, 1-0)
You see the kids listen and perform in practice but you never know how it will translate to a game .... well, now we know! All you parents should be so proud of the boys because they played very well together. As a matter of fact they did such a great job I had a really tough time deciding on who deserved the Game Ball because everyone contributed ... Colin throwing the 1st out of the season to Tyler, Anthony getting the first hit, Jimmy scoring our first run, Nick O with the 1st RBI of a 5-run inning, Cameron A knocking the snot off the ball, Austin looking masterful behind the plate, Nick G making plays at SS, Dave's tough D at 3rd base, Fish not giving up on plays making strong throws (love the helmet by the way, extra playing time), Joshua with a second life blasting a shot to LF, Tyler going 3-3 ..... but in the end it was Blake who played great defense making outs at almost every position he played, especially an outstanding pop out catch at 3rd base in the final inning and going 2-3 at the plate, hitting in an RBI and scoring. GO GIANTS!!!
