WARNING: PICTURES BEING TRIMMED

To prepare for 2005, on October 30, we will be going through the pictures currently on the web site and removing many of them, especially those that are oversized. When uploading pictures in the future, please be sure to keep them properly sized. You can find an article elsewhere on our web site for suggestions on how to do that, and of course there is a lot of other information elsewhere on the web.

2005 Board Elected

At the general meeting on Thursday, August 12, the 2005 Board of Directors was elected. The general membership first voted to set the number of Board members for 2005 at 14, and to make Ellen Walker and Eva Lebovic voting members. The members of the 2005 Board are: Jim Allen, Ellie Bates, Hector Beltran, Jacob Cerny, Dona Elliot, Aaron Groffman, Zena Gruda, Sandra Kentros-Beltran, Stephanie Kienzle, Loretta Mufson, Kevin Rafferty, Walter Reynoso, Greg Thomas, and Alan Wolfson. After the election, the Board met to elect its 2005 Officers. The results are as follows: President: Jim Allen Vice President Administration: Loretta Mufson Vice President Little League Baseball: Stephanie Kienzle Vice President Juniors and Seniors: Greg Thomas Vice President Softball: Dona Elliot Player Agent Little League (rookies and minors junior): Zena Gruda Player Agent Little League (minors and majors): Kevin Rafferty Player Agent Juniors and Seniors: Ellie Bates Player Agent Softball: Jacob Cerny Secretary: Sandra Kentros-Beltran Treasurer: Alan Wolfson Safety Officer: Hector Beltran League Information Officer: Aaron Groffman Chief of Umpires: Walter Reynoso Once again, congratulations and thanks to all who attended.

District Playoffs Set

Here are the 11-12 and 9-10 District Playoff Schedules:

 

1.         JULY 12TH DISTRICT PLAYOFFS FIRST ROUND:

 

·        SECOND PLACE NORTH TEAM VS. FIRST PLACE SOUTH TEAM @ KEY LARGO

·        SECOND PLACE SOUTH TEAM VS. FIRST PLACE NORTH TEAM @ PEPPER PARK

 

2.                  JULY 13, 14, AND 15 IF NECESSARY DISTRICT PLAYOFFS FINAL SERIES. WINNERS OF TWO FIRST ROUND GAMES PLAY BEST 2 OUT OF 3 @ KEY LARGO.

 

3.                  JULY 16-18 WINNER OF DISTRICT PLAYS SECTIONAL AT PEPPER PARK

 

4.                  JULY 23 THROUGH JULY 29 STATE—LOCATION NOT YET KNOWN.

 

5.                  AUGUST 1 THROUGH AUGUST 7 REGIONAL IN ST. PETERSBURG, FL.

 

6.                  AUGUST 20 THROUGH AUGUST 29 WORLD SERIES IN WILLIAMSPORT PENNSYLVANIA.

Elovic Leads NMB to Second Victory with Arm and Bat

The 11-12 NMB Team crushed the North Miami Americans, 10-0, in a mercy-rule-shortened 5-inning game. Hot on the heels of Henri Thomas's no-hitter, Jonathon Elovic "only" pitched a one-hitter, but also crushed two-home runs, the second a three-run shot that broke the game open. Elovic only walked one and struck out nine. Next on the NMB agenda: Bunche Park on Tuesday at Pepper Park. Go NMB!

11-12 Majors Team Starts with No-Hitter by Thomas!

Henri Thomas's second no-hitter of the season couldn't have come at a better time: the opening game of the 2004 tournament. Behind Henri's complete game and Wally Reynoso's three hits, NMB whipped the Ives team, 9-1. Henri also helped his own cause with a rocket double and a single, and Joseph Egozi got him out of a jam with a clutch double play in the third. All NMB players contributed to a real team win. Next game is Wednesday against North Miami American at 7:00 p.m. at Pepper Park.
