All individuals responsible for a team and all spectators shall support the referee. Failure to do so will undermine the referee’s authority and has the potential of creating a hostile environment for the players, the referee, all the other participants and spectators. Consequently, The NSC has adopted the following rules:

1. No one, except the players, is to speak to the referee during or after the game.

  • Exceptions: Coaches may ask questions before the game and at half time. Coaches may call for substitutions and point out emergencies during the game, or respond to the referee if addressed.

2. Absolutely no disputing referee calls, during or after the game, no remarks to the referee to watch certain players or attend to rough play.

3. Absolutely NO YELLING at the referee and/or players, EVER, and no criticism, sarcasm, harassment, intimidation, or feedback of any kind during or after the game.

The use of foul and profane language towards other persons – opponent, teammates, coaches, referees, etc – will result in AUTOMATIC EJECTION (RED CARD) The use of foul and profane language out of frustration will result in an AUTOMATIC WARNING (YELLOW CARD)

  • Exceptions: Coaches and assistant coaches may provide direction to the players, spectators may cheer on the players but provide no direction.

4. Violators may be ejected and are subject to disciplinary action by the NSC Executive Board.

If coaches or spectators have questions regarding referee calls, rules, or a referee, or wish to give feedback regarding a referee, please contact the Head Referee or any other NSC Board member.

Newfield Soccer Club Zero Tolerance Policy

Posted by Jose Cruz at Sep 30, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Newfield Soccer Club (NSC) has adopted a Zero Tolerance Policy for all NSC age groups and teams. Coaches, players, parents and all members of the NSC community are expected to uphold this policy and respect the players and referees regardless of their age and/or experience.

Zero tolerance violations will be taken very seriously by the NSC and will result in warnings, suspensions, or removal from the club whenever deemed warranted by The NSC Executive Board.

Coaches, please read the Zero Tolerance Policy and review with all players and parents at the start of each season and whenever else it seems needed.

Parents, please read the policy and review this policy with your children.

Many referees are young and just starting their careers as soccer referees. Please be respectful and support the referees, and report any Zero Tolerance violations to the NSC Board.
