Tryout Information

Tryouts are an opportunity for players to earn a spot at the highest level of play for their age group. Players that do not try out will be placed in the lowest level of play for their age group, so players aged 9-16 MUST tryout to have the oportunity to be drafted to a higher division. The only exception is players returning to an existing Major Div. Team.

**A player’s “league age” for the coming season is determined by his/her age as of April 30th.

* _______________***** Important Notice ***** _________________

If your player cannot attend tryouts, you must contact Player Agent Shana Ramirez at 707-364-1467 or petalumaamericanll@gmail.com no later than the Friday before tryouts. All players must attend try-outs in order to be considered "draft eligible" according to Little League policy. Approval by the Board of Directors is needed for any and all exceptions to this policy.

7-8 Year Old Tryouts:
7-8 year old players who feel they are ready to play at the 7-10 year old (AA level) may come to tryouts. Based on their performance, AA Managers have the option of drafting a fixed number of 7-8 year old players to their team. 7-8 year olds that are not drafted to a 7-10 year old AA team or 7-8 year olds that do not attend tryouts will be assigned to a Minor 6-9 year old (A Level) team by the Player Agent. The 6-9 year old teams play “coach pitch” ball. 7-8 year olds that do not try out are still eligible to be drafted as mid-season replacement players to the AA level if they meet the requirements set forth in the PALL By Laws.

9 and 10 Year Old Tryouts:
Tryouts are mandatory for all 9 and10 year olds. Any player not attending tryouts will not be eligible to be drafted, unless a valid excuse is accepted by the Board of Directors. 9 and 10 year olds who do not tryout will be assigned to a Minor 8-10 year old AA team by the Player Agent. Please contact Player Agent Shana Ramirez @ 707-364-1467 or petalumaamericanll@gmail.com if your 9 year old has not played before and would be better suited for Minor 6-9 year old (coach pitch). 9 year olds are eligible to be drafted to either a Minor 8-10 team (AA Division) or a Minor 9-12 team (AAA Division). 10 year olds are eligible to be drafted to either a AA team, a AAA Team, or a Major Division team. 9 and 10 year olds that do not try out are still eligible to be drafted as mid-season replacement players to a higher level team if they meet the requirements set forth in the PALL By Laws.

11 and 12 year old Tryouts
:
Tryouts are mandatory for all 11 and 12 year olds.  NOTE: ALL 12 YEAR OLDS MUST PLAY IN THE MAJOR DIVISION.  Any player not attending tryouts will not be eligible to be drafted, unless a valid excuse is accepted by the Board of Directors and will NOT be eligible for All-Stars. 11 year olds not eligible for the Major Division Draft will be assigned to an AAA team after the draft by the player agent. 12 year olds who don’t attend tryouts will be placed on a wait list for the major division.

13 and 14 year old tryouts (Juniors): Tryouts are mandatory for all 13 and 14 year olds. The Junior League is re-drafted each year.  Players not attending tryouts will be assigned to teams following the draft if space is available. PALL Junior League teams will play a schedule with teams from other District 35 Leagues.  Out of town travel may be involved.

15 and 16 year old tryouts (Seniors):Tryouts are mandatory for all 15 and 16 year olds. The Senior League is re-drafted each year. Players not attending tryouts will be assigned to teams following the draft if space is available.  Senior League teams are combined with players from the other two Petaluma Little Leagues and will play a schedule with teams from other District 35 Leagues.  Out of town travel will be involved.

2011 Tryout Schedule:

Little League (Ages 7-12) Saturday, February 5th @ Luchessi All-weather Field on Maria Drive.

Players must attend try outs during the time frame scheduled for their age group in order to be evaluated by the managers drafting from that age group.

If your son/daugter cannot attend tryouts at his/her scheduled time, you must contact our Player Agent, Kelly Bruihl @ 765-2701 at least 24 hours in advance and she will explain your options.

Location:

All-weather "soccer" field just south of our Complex on Maria Drive between PALL and the Boys & Girls Club.

Rain or Shine!  If it's raining don't assume try outs have been canceled.  Check the website for more information or call Kelly Bruihl, 765-2701.

Times by age group:
Your age on April 30 determines your age group. Returning Major Division players (played on a Major Division Team last year) do not need to tryout again.

Late Registration and Check-In begins at 8:30am.

  9:00AM - 11 & 12 Year olds

Arrive 30 minutes early to check in and warm up.  Wear proper baseball attire and your cleats and bring a glove, bat, helmet and a baseball hat.  A water bottle and a healthy snack are also a good idea. Dress appropriately for the weather.

NOTE: Some amount of "hurry up and wait" is unavoidable at Little League Try Outs. Please be patient with us.

Tryouts are an opportunity for players to earn a spot at the highest level of play for their age group.  Players that do not try out will be placed in the lowest level of play for their age group, so players aged 8 - 11 (7's are optional) must try out to have the opportunity to be drafted to a higher division.  Little League requires all 12 Year olds to play in the Major Division.
Only Managers, League Officials, and players may be on the field during Try Outs.  Parents may want to bring a lawn chair to watch from the sidelines.

NOTICE - Late Registration for the 2011 season will be available at Try Outs.  Please arrive an hour early to complete this process and be assigned a try-out number.
