2012 National Invitational Scholastic Showcase ~ Jamestown, New York Culver Academy proved in the 2012 National Invitational Scholastic Showcase that defense is the winning recipe for Championship Hockey to capture the Governor’s Cup. The Eagles defeated University School of Ohio 3-1 in the title game at Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. Logan Badelich broke a 1-1 tie late in the 2nd period and Luke Israel added an insurance goal early in the 3rd period for the difference. John Eansor’s 5th goal of the tournament gave Culver the lead in the opening period and US’s Clarke Jones tied the game at one apiece at 6:05 of the 1st period. Culver avenged a defeat to Ontario Hockey Academy a year ago in the finals by defeating West Allegheny Pa, Gilmour Academy Ohio and Fenwick Illinois to reach the Semi-Finals. The Eagles blanked Holy Ghost Prep of Eastern Pa 2-0 to reach the finals. University School defeated Ontario Hockey Academy in overtime, Bethel Park Pa and DeMatha Maryland to earn a spot against rival St Edwards in the Semi-Finals. The Preppers knocked off the Eagles 3-2 in an overtime thriller to win a spot in the championship game. Regional High School Hockey Events
Ø Your school is invited to apply for participation in 8-16 team showcases of the top High School Programs from across the United States.
Ø These events will host the best teams locally, regionally and nationally to compete for the Governor’s Cup and Director’s Cups at great Facilities across the United States.
Ø These events will be open to Schools with USA Hockey Registrations , National Federation Status and Hockey Canada Travel Permits.
Ø This Invitational Criteria encourage State Champions, Finalists, Semi-Finalists and Multiple State Champions only limited to a total of four-eight schools from any particular area [State or Region] to ensure that each school participating will face three out-of-state area in the preliminary round of competition.
Ø The tournament will be played on 2-4 rinks in prime time for these round robin events.

High School Programs are defined as representing a Community School District with a Base High School as defined by State Interscholastic Rules and Regulations [NHFS] in ALL Other School Sports
Ø Varsity – A USA Hockey Registered, National High School Federation Sanctioned or AAU High School Hockey Team
Rules for Teams other than Varsity
Ø Varsity – Small School – A USA Hockey Registered, National High School Federation Sanctioned or AAU High School Hockey Team with NO Junior Varsity or with less than 40 Participants from Grade 6 -12 OR less than 25 Participants from Grades 9-12
Ø Junior Varsity - A USA Hockey Registered, National High School Federation Sanctioned or AAU High School Hockey Team from Grades 9-11 (Schools with less than 15 Players may use up to 4 - 12th Graders)
Ø Middle School - A USA Hockey Registered, National High School Federation Sanctioned or AAU High School Hockey Team from Grades 6-8 (Schools with less than 15 Players may use up to 3 - 9th Graders)
Ø Grade School - A USA Hockey Registered, National High School Federation Sanctioned or AAU High School Hockey Team from Grades 2-5 (Schools with less than 15 Players may use up to 3 - 6th Graders)
