The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats beat the visiting Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings 5-2 on Sunday in their last game before the Christmas break.

Evangeline Hill opened the scoring for Swift Current with 3:20 left in the first period, then after Ayla Klus quickly tied it for Weyburn, Raela Packet scored with seven seconds left in the period to put the Wildcats up 2-1 after 20 minutes. Alexkie Palchinski and Reece Hawkins scored in the second period to give Swift Current a 4-1 lead. Kaydance Ray cut the Wings’ deficit to 4-2 at the 11:50 mark of the third period before Palchinski scored her second of the game to wrap up the scoring with 35 seconds left in regulation.

Dior Stringer added two assists and Paige Fischer made 23 saves in the victory as Swift Current outshot Weyburn 35-25.

The Wildcats (6-7-1-3) return to league play when they visit the Saskatoon Stars on January 11.

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats fell 3-2 in overtime to the Saskatoon Stars at S3 Arenas on Sunday.

Danielle Steffen opened the scoring for Saskatoon at 7:17 of the first period before Taylre Becker scored 10 minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1. After a scoreless second period, Evangeline Hill put Swift Current ahead 2-1 on a power play goal with 3:00 left in the third before Kolbee Ashe scored for Saskatoon with 39 seconds left to tie the game and force overtime, where Madison Buziak scored the winner with 1:42 left in the 3-on-3 extra frame.

Jordyn Ottenbreit made 44 saves for the Wildcats as the Stars outshot Swift Current 47-31

The Wildcats (5-5-1-3) take on the Regina Rebels in their next game on December 15.

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats edged the Saskatoon Stars 3-2 in a neutral site game at Rosetown’s AGT Centre on Saturday night.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes on a power play goal from Alexa Kobley and even strength markers from Dior Stringer and Evangeline Hill. The Stars mounted a comeback in the third period with goals from Ireland Stein and Halle Duchene, but Swift Current would hold on for the victory.

Rosetown’s Paige Fischer made 30 saves for the win in her hometown rink as the Stars outshot the Wildcats 32-22.

The Wildcats (5-5-1-2) return to Swift Current to face the Stars Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm from S3 Arenas.

Wildcats edge Bears 2-1 at home

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats earned a 2-1 win over the Prince Albert Mann-Northway Northern Bears on Saturday night at S3 Arenas.

Tristyn Endicott opened the scoring for the Bears midway through the first period, and then Raela Packet tied the game up at 1-1 at the 1:53 mark of the second. Cassidy Peters then scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal with 2:11 left in regulation.

Paige Fischer made 17 saves as the Wildcats outshot the Bears 40-18.

The Wildcats (4-5-1-2) will take on the Saskatoon Stars in their next game at the AGT Centre in Rosetown on Saturday.

Wildcats fall to Hounds in Wilcox

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats dropped a 5-3 decision to the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday night at Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox.

Kiara Perrett and Sasha Malenfant gave the Hounds a 2-0 lead midway through the first period before Kyla Benjamin put Swift Current on the board at the 11:21 mark of the period. Eden Carius added a power play goal for the Hounds to wrap up the opening frame, and Perrett and Kate Williams scored in the second period to give the Hounds a 5-1 lead. Dior Stringer and Evangeline Hill had the other goals for the Wildcats.

Alexie Palchinski added two assists for Swift Current and goaltenders Jordyn Ottenbreit and Paige Fischer combined for 28 saves. The Wildcats outshot the Hounds 35-33.

Swift Current (3-5-1-2) will host Prince Albert in their next game on Saturday.
