The winners on Tuesday will play on Thursday, June 4, at the site of the higher seeded team.  Within each round, the winner of game A will play the winner of game D and the winner of game B will play the winner of game C. The times for these games is expected to be 5PM. For each game, the home team should contact the visiting team by Sunday to confirm the game time and location.

As noted in a previous e-mail about the playoffs, in the Consolation Round we took geography and the opportunity to schedule a double header into consideration for the match ups.  In the consolation round we had the 13 seed play the 15 seed at home so we could schedule a double header at Carmel Valley and had the 12 seed play the 10 seed because it involved less travel.

DIVISION I PLAYOFFS

The SDCLA finishes the season with a championship round for the top 8 teams in Div I and a Consolation round for the next 8 seeded teams (seeds 9-16).  These playoffs will commence Tuesday June 2 with semi-finals on June 4  and the finals on June 6.  The games on June 2 and 4 will be at the site of the higher seeded team.  The finals for both groups will by June 6.  There are no playoffs for Division III.

The Championship game, final of the consolation round and the all star games are being held Saturday June 6 at San Marcos High School and are being hosted by the San Marcos Lacrosse club (sometimes known as North Coast Lacrosse).

The SDCLA uses a seeding committee to determine the participants in the championship and consolation rounds for Division I (there are no playoffs for Div III).  Teams seeded 1-8 will participate in the championship round and teams seeded 9-16 will participate in the consolation round.  Games for the playoffs will be Tuesday 5/26 and Thursday 5/28. The seeding committee will meet Saturday May 30 at 3pm and announce the seedings by 6pm through e-mail and posted to the web site.  The seeding committee will primarily consider the won-loss record of each team weighted for the strength of schedule and any playoff seeding information submitted by teams, if they choose to do so.  The power rankings are just an attempt to use some math to put each teams schedule in context.

A team can request to not be considered for the consolation round, in which case, the next seeded teams after 16 will be selected.  Teams may not opt out of the championship round.

The playoffs for the top 8 teams will match up in the first round based on seedings with #1 vs. #8, #2 vs. #7, etc.  The playoffs for the consolation round may take geography into consideration for the first and second round so there may not be a precise matching of seeds as being used in the championship round.  If the higher seeded team cannot host the game on the specified date then the lower seeded team will host the game.  Changing the game date is not an option.

ALL STAR GAMES- DIVSIONS I AND III

In addition, the SDCLA also has all star games on June 6 for three groups: Div I A for the top 16 seeded teams, Div I B for the remaining teams in Div I, and Div III.

The all star game is organized by allocating a number of players to each team based on their final seeding.  Each team will then select which of their players will participate in the all-star game.  Each game will be organized with approximately 30 players to each side.  In the Div I A group, the teams will be allocated 6 players for the two top teams down to 2 players for the lowest seeded teams (#15 and #16).  For Div I B and Div III, the range will be from 4 players for top seeded teams to 2 players for the lower seeded teams.  The allocation of players will also be announced May 30 by 6pm.  Each team will then need to notify me by the end of day 6/3 of the players selected, their position and whether they will attend the all star game.  Players will be listed on the website and a game day program handout.  They will also receive all star t-shirts the day of the game.  Please do not send me requests to add additional players beyond your allotment.  We assign jersey numbers to players selected so we have a handout for parents to help identify players, please make sure your all star selections can actually attend the game.

The coaches for the all star games are determined as follows: The Div I A all star game coaches come from the coaches that lose in the playoffs for Championship round.  There are two coaches for each side of the all star game.  Therefore the coach of the losing team in the first and second round is expected to coach the all star team.  This is a requirement of participating in the Championship round.  If you are not available, you need to provide a replacement. The Div I B all star game coaches come from the top four seeds in this group.  Therefore each of the teams seeded 17-20 needs to provide a coach for the all star game.  This is appropriate since the greatest allocation of players goes to these teams.  If your team is not able to provide a coach, then we will move your team to a lower seed and replace it with a team that can provide a coach. The Div III all star game coaches come from the top four seeds in this group.  Therefore each of the teams seeded 1-4 needs to provide a coach for the all star game.  This is appropriate since the greatest allocation of players goes to these teams.  If your team is not able to provide a coach, then we will move your team to a lower seed and replace it with a team that can provide a coach. Listed at the end of the e-mail is the detailed all star allocation plan.

The following are the planned game times for the finals and all star games on June 6:

9:00 AM Div III MS All Stars
10:30 AM Div I MS Championship
12:00 PM Div I MS Consolation Final
1:30 PM Div I MS All Stars-Group A
3:00 PM Div I MS All Stars- Group B
