Reed to become a Richmond Spider!!

Senior defender Hunter Reed has chosen the University of Richmond to further his educational career.  Reed ends a 5-year career with the Elmira Free Academy Blue Devils soccer program as one of the most consistant players in the school's history.  He began his EFA career in 2003 as an 8th grade member of the junior varsity soccer team under Coach Hamilton and blossomed into a fantastic player.  

Hunter plans on trying out for the Division I University of Richmond Spider soccer team, but says he will be content playing club for the school as well.   

 

Some of Hunter's accomplishments are as follows:

-FIVE years with the EFA soccer program

-Junior Varsity captain 2005-2006

-2-year starter at right back on the EFA Varsity squad

-Hunter started all 38 games as a member of the EFA varsity team

Hunter's awards/honors include:

-2006 New York State, Section IV, Class "A" Champion

-2007-2008 STAC West Champion 

-2007 New York State, Section IV, Class "A" Finalist

-2007-2008 STAC Sportsmanship Award

Great career Hunter!!  You're everything that is expected out of an EFA Blue Devil and more!!  We are proud to have you as a member of our EFA family!!

Rustici Commits to SUNY Fredonia!!

Elmira Free Academy senior forward Kevyn Rustici has committed to further his soccer and educational career at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

Kevyn leaves one very good Blue Devil program to play for another.  The SUNY Fredonia Blue Devils are coming of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship season as well as another NCAA Championship birth.  They are consistantly one of the top 25 Division III schools in the nation.

Rustici lead the EFA Blue Devils last season with a team-high 38 points and 13 goals.  Kevyn also finished second in assists with 12. 

His EFA career highlights include (3 years):

 -FOUR-year varsity starter (Notre Dame - 2004-2005) 

-Led the Blue Devils in goals for three consecutive seasons

-Scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Owego in the 2006 New York State, Section IV, Class "A" Finals

-Scored hat-trick vs. Marcus-Whitman (September 2005) 

-30 career goals  

-2007-2008 Team Captain

His awards/honors include: 

-2005 Team Offensive MVP 

-2006 New York State, Section IV, Class "A" Champion

-2007 STAC West Champion

-2007 STAC All-Conference Team

-2007 STAC Senior Showcase Team

-2007 New York State, Section IV, Class "A" Finalist

Elmira Free Academy freshman Nick Lian has been named to the STAC Academic All-Star Team for the 2007-2008 season.

The STAC Academic All-Star Team is composed of one player from each of the Fall sports teams that represents what it is to be a true scholar-athlete.  A candidate must not only be a varsity letterman, but be in excellent academic standing as well.

Lian, in his first varsity season with the Blue Devils, scored two goals for EFA and started 10 games at the leftback position.

Three members from West Division champion Elmira Free Academy were among those chosen by the league's coaches to the Southern Tier Athletic Conference boys soccer West/Metro all-conference team.

EFA's representatives were senior goalkeeper Bobby McGinnis, junior defender Mike McGinnis and senior forward Kevyn Rustici.

Also picked to the West/Metro team were Horseheads senior defender Chad Hunter, Horseheads senior midfielder Rejean Archambeault, Corning senior forward A.J. Johnson and Corning senior midfielder Ben Nix.

The rest of the West/Metro all-conference picks:
