News and Announcements

On Thursday 11/4, the WC teams had their final non-district match of the regular season vs. Lawrence Co at Galaxy Lanes in Columbia, TN.  Coach uses these non-district matches as a "tune-up" for the post-season, in hopes of preparing the teams for another deep run.  The Lawrence Co. Wildcat boys gave a good fight to our boys, winning game (3) 6-2, but fell short to our boys as we finished with a 16-11 victory.  Two weeks ago, the guys rolled their highest series of the season at Galaxy Lanes.  No such luck this time, however, as the dry lanes challenged our boys, some of them mightily.  Leading our Wildcats was Eric Lane with a 223-645 total; and Brett Miler with a nice high game of 252 in game 2.  Great game, Brett!  Other good scores:  Chris Branner with a 236-639; and Spencer Harp with a 212 game.  A win is a win, and our guys didn't look great getting it, but got in anyway...good job, 'Cats!

The LadyCats DID like the dry lanes at Galaxy, as they cruised to a 25-2 win over Lawrence Co.  Rolling a nice 3291 series, the girls had no trouble with their Lady Wildcats.  Kerstyn Stansberry came in off the bench in game 3 with her high game ever at 235!  Nice bowling, Kerstyn!!  Dani Chaffin led our ladies again with a very nice 232-649 total...great bowling, Dani!  Other good scores:  Kirstin Page on the comeback trail with a good 211-592; and Brittany Sisco had a nice 216 in game 1.  Great TEAM play, LadyCats!!

For those bowlers on the WC teams that work so hard to improve but still aren't quite ready to be a starter, matches like today are ones to look forward to.  Still a very young team with not much experience, the Ravens were no match for our defending champions as the boys cruised 26-1, and the girls rolled 25-2 for the win(s).  Our bowlers are starting to adjust well to the "Thursday" dry lanes at Smyrna, as the guys rolled some great team scores in games 1 & 2.  With 1283 & 1314 totals, the Wildcats took all 16 points to secure the match and let the subs get in.  Chris Branner led the men today with a super 257-694 total - nice set, Chris!  Other good scores:  John Petty with a 229-245; Spencer Harp a 242; Kyle Hubbuch a 223; & Seth Carey a 212.  Also, Bobby Davidson with a 202, Brett Miler a 201, and Fr. Mike Murrell with his high score in a match so far, a nice 178!  Boys now 9-1 on the year.

The LadyCats also rolled some nice scores in their victory...Kirstin Page is starting to really get back on track with a great 241-626 to lead the ladies today!  Dani Chaffin also rolled a nice 228-613 total.  Nice bowling, Kirstin & Dani!!  The girls record is now 8-1 for the season.  GO TEAMS!

Each year since moving to District 10 in 2005, we have had a big rivalry with Mt Juliet HS, just like every other sport at WC.  And even with a young and very different team this year, the Golden Bears gave our team everything they had and nearly pulled off what would have been a pretty big upset.  Our boys do hold on though, and win over MJ 15-12, with total pins at 3722-3639.  Leading 10-6 and +118 in pins after two games, we were looking to take control in game 3.  But the MJ bowlers had other ideas, as they rolled a season-high 1267 at us in winning 6 of 8 points!  (Congrats to MJ bowlers Jenn Fitzgibbons with her 254-680 and Spencer Shockley with a great 279 game).  Thankfully, our veteran leaders (Chris, Seth, & Spencer) finished game 3 really strong and knocked down enough pins to help us take the 3 points from the series.  Chris Branner led our troops today with a good 238 game & 686 series...nice bowling, Chris!  Other good scores for our boys were:  Spencer Harp steady each game at 237, 223, & 222 for a 682 total; Seth Carey  also good with a 653 (226, 215, 212); Brett Miler a 215; Eric Lane 208; and John Petty with a 202.  3722 is a pretty good series for our guys, and they were steady all day, with games of 1261, 1229, & 1232.  Great win, Wildcats!!  Wildcats now 8-1 on the season.

In our first-ever trip to Galaxy Lanes in Columbia, TN, the WC teams were hoping for high scores and wins from the trip.  And we were successful on both counts, as the Wildcats & LadyCats both rolled their highest team series of the season en route to their wins over a good Columbia Central program!  The LadyCats had the biggest challenge, as CCHS always has a very good girls team, and this year is no exception.  Our ladies stepped up with games of 1174, 1092, and 1078 for their 3344 total, taking the match 18.5-8.5.  Jr. Laurel Everett again had the hot hand to lead the team with games of 237 & 213 and a 609 series.  Nice bowling, Laurel!!  Several other good scores today were:  Brittany Sisco with a 207-588; Dani Chaffin with a 210-583; and Kirstin Page a 208-566.  Ladies move to 7-1 on the season.

The Wildcats were REALLY hot the first two games, winning 13 of 16 points with totals of 1284 & 1353.  Game 3 saw CCHS put in their subs, and our guys lost a little steam, but still rolled a respectable 1209 and sweep all 8 points to finish with a 3846 total in their 24-3 win.  Four WC bowlers finished at 650+ today, led by Chris Branner with a 685 series, and John Petty with a super 278 game (11 strikes!) and 682 total.  More good scores were by Spencer Harp with a 227-665; Kyle Hubbuch with a 249-650; and Seth Carey with a nice 246 in game 2.  Great bowling, Wildcats!  Boys team is also now 7-1 for the year.

Both the Boys & Girls teams for White Station HS (Memphis) are going through a rebuilding mode, so a win over these teams should have been expected.  And even though we did win, both of the White Station teams showed flashes of what may be in store in the near future!  The boys won 18-9 with pinfall at 3409-3132.  But our boys lost game 3 in this match, after Coach Catlin (WS) put all of his subs in for that game!  Congrats to Oviere Bonaparte of WSHS for his awesome 268 in game 3!  Our guys did roll good in the first two games in taking an 11-5 lead with games of 1213 & 1138.  Spencer Harp soared to a great 265 himself in game 2, and finished with a nice 641 series.  Chris Branner had a nice 233 in game 1, Kyle Hubbuch a 206, Brett Miler a 205, and Eric Lane a 203.

The LadyCats didn't have a lot of "highlights" from this match, but didn't need them in their 20.5-6.5 victory.  Pinfall totals were 2925-2690.  Laurel Everett came in for game 3 and had our high game with a 212.  Dani Chaffin rolled a 199, and Jr. Elizabeth Callas a 193.  And even with a lot of substitution in this match, we must mention our high series for this match...Freshman Nicole Bailey rolled her high game and series with a nice 198 & 515, and her 198 won her point over last year's Miss Bowler winner Jekayla Bafford of WSHS!  Way to go, Nicole!!
