News and Announcements

With very young teams and several new bowlers, Glencliff HS didn't serve as a tough test for our bowlers.  The lanes at Pla-Mor, however, did prove to be tough as the boys rolled their first sub-3000 series in several years with a 2947 total in their 24-3 victory.  Spencer Harp was the only bowler to roll all 3 games, and also had the only 200+ game today with a nice 237 in game 1.  Spencer finished with a hard-fought 590 series.  Several non-starters did get in to bowl in game 3 today, so playing time for all is a good thing!  Boys now 15-1 on the year!

The LadyCats did fare a little better than the guys, finishing with a 3036 total enroute to their 25.5-1.5 win today.  Dani Chaffin led the ladies again today with a nice 579 series (203), and Elizabeth Callas had a great start with high game of 209 and a 202, finishing with a 556 series.  Kirstin Page added a 202 in game 2.  Good bowling ladies!  Girls move to 14-1 for the season, and only one more regular season match remaining.  GO WC!

Thursdays at Smyrna have proved to be tough for our teams this season, as the non-oiled lanes are typically very dry for our matches.  This day would be no different, but neither would the result, as both teams cruised to easy wins over Antioch HS.  The Wildcats did have a few good scores today, led by Chris Branner with another solid series at 684 (249-212-223).  High game would be rolled by the other senior boy, Seth Carey, with a great 255 in game 2.  Seth finished with a nice 611 total.  Other good scores were:  Eric Lane with a 232; Spencer Harp a 229-611; and John Petty with a 226.  Boys now 14-1 for the year.

The LadyCats were a little above average as a team in games 1 & 2, but the dry lanes were too much in game 3, as they finished with a 3056 total in their 27-0 sweep.  Only one 200 game today - Kirstin Page with a 202 in game 2 - but not much else needed for this district match up.  Girls now 13-1 on the season.  Go WC teams!!

This was supposed to be our "away" match with Cane Ridge, but after arriving at Tusculum Lanes we were informed by Coach George of CRHS that they had overbooked matches and there were NO LANES for us!  Not wanting to postpone the match, Coach Mark suggested moving the event to Smyrna, to which Coach George agreed.  So, back to our "home" for the "away" match!

After a very slow start to our scoring in game 1, the teams both got a good "talking to" from the coaches, and proceeded to find a nice groove in games 2 & 3.  Both teams finished with near-best season scores and identical 26-1 victories.  The LadyCats have a season average of almost 1050 a game, but could only hit 983 in game 1 - with no bowlers over their personal average.  Coach Kenny reminded the ladies about "playing down" to the competition, and they stepped up with seven 200+ scores in games 2 & 3!  The LadyCats shot 1143 and 1141 to finish with a nice 3267 series.  Laurel Everett had her season high game in game 3 with a nice 236, and Dani Chaffin had a good 221-604 total as these two led our team today.  Other good scores:  Kirstin Page with a 206, and Brittany Sisco added a 204 & 202.  Nice bowling, LadyCats!

The boys really had "jet lag" from their trip 'round Nashville, as they could only muster a 1038 in game 1, which is about 130 pins below their season team game average of 1170.  Coach Mark was in, shall we say, unusual form with his "talk" with the boys after game 1.  After being admonished by Coach...WOW, what a turnaround in games 2 & 3, as the boys soared to scores of 1331 & 1417 - which was only 4 pins below their school-record game set early this year!  Their two game total of 2748 is higher than many teams three-game series totals!!  The boys finished with a high in district play 3786 series.  Leading the way today were Spencer Harp with a super 713 on games of 209-258-246; and Chris Branner had high game with a very nice 274 in game 2.  Chris finished with a 265-689 total, which is an enormous series after a 150 first game!  Nice bowling, Spencer & Chris!  Other good scores:  Kyle Hubbuch with a 227-232 for a 645 series; John Petty a 236-230 & 630 total; Eric Lane a 253 in game 3.  All in all a GREAT finish to a nice win.

Each year we have one match that is named "Senior Day" to honor all of the seniors on our bowling teams.  Some years, all of the seniors are already starters, so it is not as big of a deal.  And some years, a few players get a chance to start where they might not normally do so.  This year had a little of both, but a LOT of great bowling, as our Seniors led both teams to a resounding 27-0 sweep over FCS!  The LadyCats were on top of their games today, setting season highs for team game & series with a super 1220 in game 1, and a very nice 3502 total!  And a big congrats goes to Sr. Kaitlin Page, who as always been our emotional leader, but today stepped up to be one of the scoring leaders with her first two games at 220 & 232, and finishing with a nice 621 series.  Awesome job, Katy!!  All three of our other LadyCat Srs did well, too...Kirstin Page had high series with a 632(226), Dani Chaffin rolled a 626 with three 200+ games, and Kerstyn Stansberry took advantage of the start today to roll 67 pins over her season average with a nice 529 total.  Also, Laurel Everett had a good 204 in game 1.  The girls move to 11-1 for the season...Great job, LadyCats!

The boys started a little slow in game one, only hitting an 1153 total, but taking all 8 points.  Coach Mark prodded the guys a little, pointing out that the girls beat them easily in that first game!  :-)   So they kicked it in gear with a little emotional pick-me-up from Coach Kenny (Thanks Coach!) and rolled 1306 & 1239 the final two games to finish with a nice 3698 total.  Senior Seth Carey had high game with a 236 (651 series) while Jr. John Petty led the team again today with a very consistent 660 series, on games of 214, 226, & 220.  Nice bowling, Seth & John!  Other good scores:  Sr. Chris Branner with a 635 (214-212-209), Jr. Brett Miler with a 629 (226-212), Kyle Hubbuch with a 233 in game 2, and Eric Lane a 205 in game 3.  Wildcats move to 12-1 on the year, with only 5 more matches to go!

Winning a match after only the first two games doesn't usually happen against other good teams.  Doing it shows just how good our team(s) can be, as both teams quickly secured victory over rival Lebanon!  The Wildcats' match was the really important one, as the strong Blue Devil boys almost won our last match at Pro Bowl.  But our men were ready for the challenge, winning 7-1 in both of the first two games to earn the win.  John Petty led the boys today with a super 233 & 256 in games 1 & 2 on his way to a nice 669 series.  Way to go, John!  Other good scores:  Spencer Harp with a 223-220-193 for a good 636 total; Seth Carey a 227; Chris Branner a 221; and Eric Lane a 207.  Final pinfall 3534 - 3290 in our 18-9 win.  Boys now 11-1 on the season, and most importantly, two games up on Lebanon in the District 10 standings.  Great bowling, 'Cats!

The LadyCats remained unbeaten in District 10 play since moving to this district in 2005!  That is a stretch of 5 1/2 years of no losses in district play - pretty remarkable for any team in any sport!!  Their easy 26-1 win over Lebanon wasn't our best outing, with only 2 games over 200 and a few girls really struggling.  Brittany Sisco started slow, but turned it up in games 2 & 3 with 207 & 214 for a 579 series to lead our LadyCats.  Kirstin Page also had a decent 557 total.  The girls move to 10-1 on the season, and another District 10 title looks locked up.  With no more Mt Juliet girls, and no other girls' teams stepping up, it looks like our dominance of District 10 will continue for awhile!
