GO WILDCATS!!

Facing some of the toughest lane conditions we've ever had, and on a day when so many points were needed to reach our goal, the Wildcats came through with exactly what they had to - 23 points and a #1 seed in the District 10 Tourney next week!!!  With both Mt Juliet & the Wildcats finishing with identical 15-1 records, the next tie-breaker was total points won for the season.  And with our 23-4 win over Glencliff, WC & MJ finished tied in points with 338.5!! And so the next tie-breaker being total pinfall for the season, our boys win that by a few hundred pins!!!  Think about it for just a moment...16 matches, 27 points possible each match, and if we would have lost just one more point ANYWHERE in the season, this #1 seed would not be ours!!  INCREDIBLE!!  A very big CONGRATULATIONS to this Wildcat Boys team for completing the best regular season record yet at WC, and our first-ever #1 seeding!!  Fittingly, our scoring leader today was our only Senior - Krishna Patel with a 198 game & 530 series, and tying for high game was Geremy Roseti.  Again, I can't stress enough how TOUGH Cumberland Lanes played today - everyone struggled to find a shot AND to make their spares.  And yet we prevailed...this team truly has HEART!!  Way to go, Wildcats - now take it as far as you can in the post-season!!!!

Also, a huge WAY TO GO to our LadyCats for their FOURTH-STRAIGHT undefeated regular season, and for stretching "The Streak" to an incredible 64 straight regular season matches!!!  For those of you just tuning in, "The Streak" started in the 2004-05 season, when we were in District 7 instead of 10, and had to bowl at different centers against different teams!!  These LadyCats keep building and getting stronger every year, and after three trips to STATE in the past four years, maybe this year we can bring home THE BIG PRIZE!!  A lot of work to be done in the post-season, though.  Work hard, LadyCats....let's show everyone you can do it!!

After nearly a month off from competition, we coaches always worry whether or not the team will be "ready to play" again.  After today's match vs. DCA, I know that their boys were most ready, but our guys stepped up when needed and came together as a TEAM to pull out a hard-fought win 14.5 to 12.5!  Rolling a very good 3589 series with a balanced effort from all, our Wildcats bowled scores in games 2 & 3 that we normally roll at home!  But they needed every pin as DCA shot a 3543 series, with 8 200+ games!  This score was over 300 pins higher than their previous high, but with the addition of Justin Turner back into their lineup, we knew they were capable of some better scores.  Our team was led by Fr. Spencer Harp with a great 256 game & 636 series.  Other good scores for us were:  JR Clemons with 225-634; Chris Branner with a 218-612; Geremy Roseti 201-590; and Sr. Krishna Patel with a nice 234-594.  With only 1 more match left in the regular season, our boys need a great performance on Thursday vs. Glencliff to take the #1 seed for the first time ever!  GO 'CATS!!

The LadyCats HAVE the #1 seed after today's 25-2 thrashing of DCA!  Dani Chaffin led the way today with a nice 199 game & 535 series, as the match was in hand after 2 games.  Congrats, LadyCats on your super season - 1 more to go for a FOURTH PERFECT REGULAR SEASON IN-A-ROW!!

While it wasn't pretty by any means, and the scores were definitely not up to par, both WC teams cruised to easy wins today vs. Antioch at Cumberland Lanes.  The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-0 win in game 1, and eased home with a 23.5-3.5 victory.  A balanced effort was achieved today as no one broke a 600 series, but a few were close - Geremy Roseti led the way with a 594 (223 game) Spencer Harp was next with a 216-592; and Sr. Krishna Patel had high game today with a nice 225, & finished with a 588 series.  Seth Carey also had a good game with a 224 in game 2.  The 'Cats now have a 7.5 point lead over Mt Juliet in the close District standings...only two more matches left!!

The LadyCats bowled good shots today, but the pins didn't seem to want to go down!  More "9" counts today than I think I've ever seen....  but it is all OK after an easy 26.5 - .5 win!  No 200+ games today for the ladies - Kirstin Page led all bowlers today with a 190-506.  "The Streak" is now up to 62 straight regular season wins!  Two more left on the season, LadyCats...let's finish strong!!

What an incredible, exciting afternoon of High School Bowling was had today at Hermitage Lanes!!  The Wildcat Bowlers "scratched and clawed" through their matches today and at the end came out WINNERS!!

The Wildcats won their most dramatic victory yet with a roller-coaster, nail-biting, wild finish in game three - slipping past the Mt Juliet Bears by only 3 pins, winning 3709 - 3706 and match points 14 - 13!!  For 12 bowlers to roll 3 games and it come down to the final bowler, well...it simply can't get much more exciting!!  Seth Carey stepped up in the 10th frame needing two strikes & 7 pins for us to take the win, and he did it!!  With two beautifully rolled strikes, and a 9-count on the final shot, Seth sealed our victory!!  Equally as important that game, Fr. Spencer Harp needed to get a double & nine to win his point, or Seth's chance would have never come...and Mr. Harp did just that, winning his point 248-247!  The guys started off in game 1 like they were going to run away with the match, winning 6-2 with a 1292 - 1187 start.  But game 2 we had a small letdown, with JR Clemons' 254 game as our only 200+ game, we lost that one by 47 pins.  Still up 9-7 in points, and by 58 pins total, we should have been in control.  But Mt Juliet did what they ALWAYS do - they kept on striking!  After 7 or 8 frames, it really looked like our guys were done.  But they kept clawing, got a little help from the other side, and finished with a win!!  Heroes were all around today - team leader JR Clemons again led the way with a super 254-723; Seth Carey rolled 237-652; Spencer Harp had 248-629; Geremy Roseti shot 230-607; Krishna Patel 200; and super sub Fr. Eric Lane, who came in during that important third game and shot 44 pins over his average with a great 199 game!  What can we say, Wildcats...you guys were AWESOME!!

Not to be out-done, the LadyCats continued their record-setting, winning ways.  With a school record 1181 in game 1, the ladies also got off to a great 6-2 start.  But they too had a little "letdown" in game 2, losing it 990-977.  Still, up by a 9-7 score and +69 pins in total, we were in control of our destiny.  And our 61st consecutive regular-season win was the result, as the ladies won game 3 by 80 pins!  Their 17-10 win was a great victory over a very improved Lady Bears team, who rolled their own high series of the season with a 3051.  Our 3200 series was the third time in the past four matches the LadyCats have bettered 3200 total pins.  Individual stars today were:  Brennan Page with a 230-624; Kirstin Page with her high game & series of the season, 221-611; Fr. Brittany Sisco with her new high game of 208!; and, Dani Chaffin with a 202.  WAY TO GO, LadyCats!!
