Wilson Central Wildcats & LadyCats are Region 5 Champs!!  The Wildcats bowled their hearts out in a hard-fought rematch with Overton HS, taking the Region title by a 15-12 score.  Using a very balanced attack, the boys fought back from deficits of 2-6 & 7-9 in games 1 & 2 to take the victory over the Bobcats!  Chris Branner led our boys this match with a consistent 225-203-222 for a 650 series.  Spencer Harp led the boys in High Game with a nice 245 in game 2.  After bowling so well last year at this time and still getting beat, the guys "took care of business" this year and sent Overton traveling for sectionals.  Great job, 'Cats!!!

The LadyCats came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, and bowled games of 1141 & 1237 in games 1 & 2 to take 13 of 16 points, then cruised home with a 3369-2756 victory!!  Dani Chaffin was hot again this match, with a nice 256 game & 627 total leading the way.  Laurel Everett also had a 590 total, with a 214 game. Other good scores were:  Kirstin Page with a 223 game; Brennan Page a 209; Kaitlin Page 202.  Awesome bowling, LadyCats!!!   On to sectionals!!

Using the opportunity to rest some arms for the long final day of Regions, Coach Mark decided to start several non-starters to give more bowlers a chance to contribute.  And the TOTAL team effort led to victory for both teams, as the girls cruised over Franklin 21.5-5.5, and the boys held off a spirited Maplewood team 20-7!  JR Clemons led the boys in game 1 with a 252, and we needed every pin as we slid past Maplewood 1159-1114.  Game 2 saw a couple more starters slide back into the lineup, and they basically put the match away with a very nice 1291 game to M's 1101.  Chris Branner had 245, Seth Carey 235, Michael Whitlow 235, and JR Clemons 232 to lead the way in game 2.  Michael Whitlow stayed in all 3 games and finished with a very nice 640 series!  Nice bowling, Michael!!  Boys move on to the finals and a rematch of last year's Region 5 finals vs. Overton.
