News and Announcements

Earlier this season, the WC teams headed to Savannah, TN for the “Fall Bash” tournament hosted by the Hardin Co. teams.  Good competition for our bowlers early in the season.  And even though both teams went 2-1, losing is never easy for these teams, because they haven’t experienced it much!  The LadyCats lost to White Station, ending their 67-match regular season streak, while the boys lost big to host Hardin Co.  So, as fate sometimes works, we end up with a chance for redemption at the same time - in the State semi-final matches!

And redemption it was, as both teams came out on top - earning a return trip to the State Finals Match!!  Each teams’ win came in contrasting styles - the Wildcats came storming out early and never looked back in hammering Hardin Co. 22 - 5, while the LadyCats were up after game 1, down after two, then had another fantastic, exciting, unbelieveable comeback in game 3 to take the win 17-10!  You can check out the scoresheets here:

Flashback to 2007 for a moment…our girls face Soddy-Daisy in the semi-finals, and Traci Baker needs to make a strike/spare in the final frame to tie total pins - and does so!  We win 14-13.  Now remember last year, where the Hendersonville coach proclaimed victory with two bowlers left to bowl, only to see us win by two pins, 14-13 again!  Now, believe it or not - the match vs. White Station saw us in even more distress, as after the 8th frame, we were losing 4 of 6 individual points, and still losing game 3 total pins.  Then in the final two frames, “The Comeback” began!  Five of our six bowlers marked in the ninth frame.  All of them marked in the 10th, and coupled with a few open frames on the other side, the tide totally turned.  We won 5 of 6 ind. points, and took game 3 1152-1090 to win the series points, too!  WOW!!  Kirstin Page led the way for our girls with a 247-605.  Also bowling well were:  Dani Chaffin with a great 224 in game 3; Brittany Sisco with a 212-588, winning two points against this year’s Miss Bowling award winner Jekayla Bafford; and Laurel Everett had a 201 game.  Final pinfall was 3313-3295.  A super memorable comeback for the ages - way to go ladies!

Leading the way for the boys in their win over Hardin Co. was JR Clemons with a super 712 total (247-208-257).  Spencer Harp (235-652), Chris Branner (256-645), Seth Carey (235-617), & Michael Whitlow (213-612) all had over a 600 series, and Geremy Roseti had a nice 235 in game 2.  Now it is on to the State Finals, teams…let’s go WIN two State Titles!!

What a finish and what a day for Jr. Kirstin Page, as she took 4 of 6 games in the match-play finals of the 2010 Individual State Tournament, and held on to become Central's first-ever Champion!!!  Kirstin rolled two clutch strikes in the 10th frame of game 6 to hold off Lauren Adams of White Station HS (Memphis) by a mere 4 pins.  WOW!!  Kirstin averaged 172.4 for her 10 games on the very difficult "sport shot" lane conditions.  A very good performance that led her to victory!!  Check out all of the scores for the event here:

We also want to congratulate Jr. Dani Chaffin, who qualified 6th for the finals and finished in that position out of a total of 72 girls that bowled this event.  Way to go, Kirstin & Danielle!!

Wildcats join the LadyCats in Semi-Finals

Posted by Mark Hubbuch at Jan 28, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Wildcats join the ladies in the Final Four with their 16-11 victory over Greeneville HS!  The guys were steady and solid all day long, and made the majority of their spares to defeat the surprisingly good East TN team.  Check out the totals here:

http://www.tssaa.org/2009Champions/StateBowling/DIBoys/Match3.htm

Led by Seth Carey's 260 game & 642 series, the boys did what they needed to do to win the match and advance to the semi's - make spares and keep the other team from getting too far ahead!!  Good teams "find a way" to win sometimes.  After jumping out to an 11-5 lead, the boys "slowed down" and let them come back to win game 3, but kept enough of a lead to earn total pins.  Other good scores:  Spencer Harp with a 635 total; Chris Branner a 627 series; Michael Whitlow (getting the start for the injured Geremy Roseti) with a 234 game & 585 series; JR Clemons a 212 game; and Eric Lane off the bench with a nice 220 game.  Great bowling, Wildcats!!

Coach Mark took a chance to rest Kirstin Page & Dani Chaffin after their efforts in the Individual finals, and everyone else pitched in for the win.  So. Brittany Sisco led our girls today with her personal-best 694 series, on games of 202-235-257.  That 257 in game 3 included the first eight strikes in-a-row...WOW!  Awesome bowling, B-ritt!!  Sr. Brennan Page started a little slow in game 1, but roared back like a lion in the 2nd game with the last 8 strikes on her way to a beautiful 266 game!  Bren finished her day with a nice 636 series.  Kaitlin "Sparkplug" Page got the whole team going with her energy AND her bowling, storming out with a 207 in the first game, then a great 221 in game 2.  Katy finished with a good 586 series.  Laurel Everett had a 202 in game 2, and Kerstyn Stansberry rolled a nice 190 game off the bench in game 3.  Game 2 saw our LadyCats roll a wonderful 1238 game, which to-date is the State Tournament Record for High Team Game - and that is with two starters on the bench!!  Awesome job, LadyCats...go get that State Title!

Four of the seven individuals who qualified for the TSSAA Individual State Tournament have advanced to the semi-final round of 24 bowlers.  For the boys, Chris Branner rolled 874 for his four games to qualify in 13th place.  On the girls side, all 3 of our girls advanced to the semi's - Dani Chaffin tied for 2nd place with a very good 807 total; Kirstin Page in 5th with a nice 803 series; and Brennan Page qualified tied for the 23rd & final spot with her 707 series!!  Way to go Central bowlers!!  We will update after the Semi-finals are complete!!
