Steve returned to the Chiefs and the Intercity League for the first time in 2016 since the 2003 season......Saw action in only seven games in 2017 due a nagging arm injury...Appeared in 26 games in his comeback season of 2016 and batted an overall .297, including a lofty .385 in 18 regular season games....Previously played with the Chiefs for three seasons from 2001-2003.....Became the youngest starter in team history when he won the starting shortstop position as a 17 year old in the summer of 2001......Was a career .311 hitter for the Chiefs while appearing in 102 games over his three year stint with the club.....Hit a career best .329 in 2003 with 36 hits, including 10 extra base hits......Went on to play college ball at the University of Maine where he became the starting shortstop as a freshman.......Excelled at Medford High where he was a three time Greater Boston League all-star.....Can play all infield and outfield positions and was also known as a fireballing right-hander in his high school days.....34 year old continues to bring a veteran presence to the 2018 squad....

Chiefs Begin Pre-Season Slate

Medford, MA- The Chiefs are preparing for the start of the 2014 season with a host of pre-season games and scrimmages that will begin this week. The pre-season slate will continue for the next two weeks leading up to the opener on Sunday, June 1.

With 36 players currently on the pre-season roster, the club will trim that number down prior to the start of their Intercity League campaign. Seven new faces have joined the Chiefs for the pre-season.

The Chiefs have gone an overall 59-18 (.766) over the last two seasons, which includes the regular season pennant last year and the Intercity League Championship in 2012. They have appeared in the ICL championship series for three consecutive seasons and four times in the last five years.

The Chiefs will host the Watertown Reds in the 2014 opener on Sunday, June 1 at Huskins Field, on the campus of Tufts University in Medford, in a 5:00 PM start. On Monday, June 2 they will take on the Melrose Americans at Maplewood at 8:00 PM. They then hit the road to visit the Mooney Dental Tanners on Wednesday, June 4 at Ferullo Field in Woburn. The first week of the regular season will conclude on Thursday, June 5 with a rematch of the last three ICL finals when the Chiefs reunite with the Blue Sox in Lexington at 8:00 PM. – Bruce Tillman

Hometown: Melrose, MA College: Bentley University
The Chiefs' smooth fielding starting shortstop, Nate begins his seventh season in the Chiefs' colors in 2018 and has been part of two championship teams....Played in 27 games last summer with 12 RBI's and hitting .242 in the regular season....Started 28 games in 2017 with a homer and 11 RBI's.....Made 20 starts in 2015 primarily at shortstop.... Was in 17 games in 2014, including two on the mound......Started all 37 games at third base and shortstop in 2013 and batted .247 in 93 at bats......First came onboard with the Chiefs in the championship season of 2012 and appeared in 14 games……Startier at Bentley University in 2013 & 2014……Appeared in 40 games for the Falcons in 2014 and batted .252…..Can play all infield and outfield positions as well as throw some heat from the mound........Nate is a 2009 graduate of Malden Catholic and then prepped at Avon Old Farms School …….At Malden Catholic, played four years of baseball and two years of hockey .........Helped MC to the state tournament all four seasons in baseball which included the EMass semifinals in 2009...... Was a two-time Catholic Conference All-Star in baseball and was the Lancers team MVP as a senior ......Pitched back-to-back no-hitters while at Malden Catholic and will occasionally make a mound appearance for the Chiefs .......Also won the Hobey Baker award in hockey at MC and appeared in the Super 8 semi-finals in 2008 and 2009 ... ...Earned All-Founders League and All-Colonial League honors and was the team MVP in baseball while at Avon Old Farms .........Resides in Melrose, MA…….

Mike came to the Chiefs in 2014 and won his first ICL championship after spending a decade playing in the Intercity League with the Medford/Melrose Americans……Hit an overall .222 last summer in 32 games with 11 RBI.....Appeared in 28 games in 2016 and stole a team leading 12 bases and added 12 RBI's and was named to the ICL all-star team.....Hit .256 in 2015 with 11 RBI and 11 stolen bases.......Well seasoned Intercity League veteran holds a career .254 average......Mike has appeared in 340 ICL games including the post season in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015 & 2016 …Speedy outfielder with great range and dangerous speed has stolen 103 bases in his ICL career while only being caught stealing 10 times..... Has a stolen base/caught stealing percentage of.912……Was second in the ICL in stolen bases in 2011 when he swiped 13 without being caught…..Had a career high 14 thefts in 2007…...Hit .303 in his first Chiefs' campaign in 2014 and drove in eight runs.....Enjoyed his best Intercity League season at the plate in 2012 when he hit .333, going 29 for 87 with eight extra base hits and 10 RBI…...Hit .325 in 2007 for the Americans, appearing in 30 games with 11RBI…..Began his collegiate career at Division II powerhouse Franklin Pierce before transferring to Keene State in New Hampshire where he graduated from in 2010......Played at Medford High in the mid 2000’s, graduating in 2006….....Hails from the same Little League (North Medford, MA) as Chief Mike Andre and the two maintain a near lifelong friendship that dates back over two decades…...Is the son of Paul and Jan Burgoyne of Medford, MA……Has one younger sibling, Ryan….
