(Malden, MA) - Andrew Mazzone, Ryan Cloutier, and Leon Paulino all homered to lead the Sabertooth Expos to an 18-7 rout of the Chiefs at Maplewood on Monday night. The loss dropped the Chiefs into second place in the ICL Standings.

Kebler Peralta and Jose Paulino added three RBI’s each as the Expos rung out 17 hits. Dan Shaw (3-1) went the distance to record the win. Shaw allowed eight hits but struck out 11.

Andrew Caulfield (pictured) drove in five of the Chiefs’ runs with two doubles. Caulfield leads the ICL with 38 RBI’s on the season. Ryan Noone and John Baptista added doubles and Tyler Ferdinand contributed two hits for the Chiefs.

Tim Dunphy (4-3) worked four innings and took the loss.

Chiefs Chatter.… The 17-7 Chiefs conclude their regular season slate with a 7:30 PM game tonight against the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field in Melrose….

(Malden, MA) The Sabertooth Expos scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past the Chiefs 5-3 at Maplewood on Thursday night in a battle for first place.

Chiefs’ starter Paul Frisoli faced the minimum 15 batters through five innings before the Expos took advantage of his sudden wildness and wrestled the game away in the sixth.

The Chiefs jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead against Expos’ ace Nick Johnson on a walk to Joe Bova, a Miles Reid double, and a sacrifice fly to center from Andrew Caulfield.

The lead went to 3-0 in the third on a Bova leadoff triple followed by a Reid single.

Frisoli was perfect through three innings before the Expos broke through in the bottom of the fourth. Leon Peralta led off with a single but was picked off first after a rundown. George Chava followed with another single but was erased when Anthony Mazzone bounced into a 4-6-3 doubleplay as the Expos sent the minimum 15 batters to the plate through five innings.

Meanwhile, Johnson began to settle in, striking out the Chiefs’ side in the fourth, getting them in order in the fifth with a K, and ended the top of the sixth with another strikeout with Hector Pellot aboard via a walk.

Things unraveled quickly for Frisoli and the Chiefs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Three consecutive walks to Michael Oliviera, Jose Paulino, and Hunter Weissman, loaded the bases with nobody out. Frisoli then struck out Leon Paulino for the first out before a Chava groundout got the Expos on the board at 3-1. Mazzone then delivered an RBI single to make it 3-2. Jon Matos replaced Frisoli and the Expos greeted him with consecutive singles by Leon Paulino, Ryan Cloutier and Angelo Colucci for three more runs and a 5-3 lead. Cameron Breault came on for the Chiefs and ended the inning with a strikeout, keeping it a two run Expos lead heading into the seventh.

Johnson struck out the first two batters of the seventh before the Chiefs got two runners aboard via an error and a walk. Johnson finished in style recording his 12th K of the game to secure the Expos’ win.

Johnson, now 6-0, allowed five hits. He has struck out 96 batters in 49 innings so far this summer and has an ERA of 1.43. Frisoli (0-1) ended up taking the loss. The righty went 5.2 innings, gave up three hits, struck out seven, but allowed three walks that all scored in the sixth inning.

Chiefs Chatter.… The loss snapped the Chiefs winning streak at seven games…..The 17-6 Chiefs return to action on Monday in a rematch with the Expos at Maplewood at 8:00 PM….The team concludes the regular season when they visit the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field on Tuesday at 7:30 PM…..

(Melrose, MA) Miles Reid drove in six runs to lead the Chiefs to a 16-4 win over the Melrose Americans on Wednesday night at Morelli Field.

Reid (pictured), now hitting a lofty .397, went four for five that included a homer and two doubles.

Not to be outdone, both Andrew Caulfield and Joe Bova went four for four at the plate. Caulfield had a homer and three RBI’s while Bova also hit a round-tripper, a double, and knocked in three runs.

Leadoff man Juan Parra (3-3, 2 runs scored), shortstop Nate Witkowski (2 hits, double, 2 RBI’s) and Nick Valdario, with two hits, all contributed to the Chiefs’ offense.

John Jennings had a homer and three RBI’s for the Americans.

Lefty Evan Walsh went four innings to record the win. Now 4-1 on the season, Walsh allowed six hits and struck out three. Shai Cohen worked the fifth inning before A.J. Rourke and Jonathan Chotkowski each tossed a scoreless frame to close the game out.

Chiefs Chatter…. The win was the seventh in a row and 10th in their last 11 games…..The 17-5 Chiefs are back in action on Thursday when they meet the 15-5 Sabertooth Expos at Maplewood starting at 8:00 PM……

(Malden, MA)- The Chiefs rallied back from a 6-3 fifth inning deficit to eventually come away with a 9-8 win over the Malden Maddogs on Monday night at Maplewood.

A leadoff single from Juan Parra, doubles from Ryan Noone (pictured) and Andrew Caulfield, and an RBI single from Joe Bova, gave the Chiefs a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The Maddogs came right back to knot the game at 3-3 in the top of the second inning on RBI’s from Damian Brown and Ben Croteau and a Lawrence Tang two-out homer.

Malden added single runs in the next three innings to take a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth where the Chiefs sent nine men to the plate and took an 8-6 lead. Walks to Parra and Miles Reid got the inning started before Teddy Dziuba delivered both with a double to close the gap to 6-5. Two walks, two errors, and a hit batsman, accounted for the next three runs giving the Chiefs a two-run lead.

The Maddogs tied things up at 8-8 in the top of the sixth inning with two unearned runs.

The Chiefs got the game winner in the bottom of the sixth. Reid reached on a one out infield error and came around to score on Noone’s two out single to left.

Tim Dunphy started for the Chiefs and worked the first 3.2 innings before giving way to Jonathan Richard who went the next 1.1 frames. Righty Paul Frisoli (1-0) came on for the Chiefs in the top of the sixth and picked up his first win of the season. The former Bentley University standout struck out five, allowed one hit and no earned runs.

Chiefs Chatter….Monday’s win snapped the Maddogs winning streak at four games and extended the Chiefs streak to six wins. The team has won nine of its last ten starts and improved to 16-5 on the year…..Next up is a date with the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM….The Chiefs will return home and host the Sabertooth Expos on Thursday at Maplewood at 8:00 PM…..

(Malden, MA)- Evan Walsh went five strong shutout innings to lead the Chiefs to a 10-0 blanking of the Lexington Bulldogs on Wednesday evening at Maplewood.

The Chiefs jumped on Bulldog starter Trent Balian for three quick runs in the bottom of the first inning. Miles Reid doubled with one out and scored the first run on Teddy Dziuba’s single to left-center. Andrew Caulfield then delivered a double to left, sending Dziuba to third with one out. Dziuba scored on a fielder’s choice error and Caulfield scored the third run of the inning on an error by Balian.

Walsh allowed a hard hop single off the bat of Graham Seed with one out in the top of the second.

The Chiefs picked up a couple of more runs in their second at bat when Balian hit Nate Witkowski with a pitch and walked Nick Valdario before a sacrifice fly from Reid and another RBI single from Dzuiba made it 5-0.

Walsh stayed strong getting the Bulldogs’ side in order in both the third and fourth with two K’s in each inning.

Lexington mounted its biggest threat against Walsh in the top of the fifth when they put two men in scoring position. Seed led off with a double deep down the rightfield line before Walsh struck out Nick Favazzo for the first out. Seed advanced to third on a wild pitch before Joe Cacciatore drew a walk and stole second. Walsh kept the shutout intact when he struck out Josh Garner and Connor Brala in succession to end the inning.

The Chiefs added two runs in the bottom of the fifth to increase the lead to 7-0 when Luis Tejeda (pictured) launched a two-run bomb to left scoring Ryan Noone ahead of him who had walked.

Cameron Breault came on in the top of the sixth for Walsh and promptly struck out the Lexington side in order.

Andrew Caulfield’s three run homer to right-center put things out of reach at 10-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning and
righty Armando Acosta made his Chiefs’ pitching debut in the bottom of the seventh and struck out two batters.

Walsh allowed only two hits and struck out ten batters in five innings. The lefty raised his record to 3-1 on the season.

Chiefs Chatter…Seed had all three of the Lexington hits…. Chiefs’ pitching combined to strike out 15 batters in the game……The team is off until Monday when they meet the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood at 8:00 PM……The win was the Chiefs’ fifth in row as they improved to 15-5 on the season…..Caulfield increased his ICL leading RBI total to 28 and hit his team best fourth homer of the year…..
