Lexington, MA- The Blue Sox erased a 2-0 Chiefs lead, scoring a run in the third then adding four unearned runs in the fourth, to take a 6-3 win at Lexington High on Monday night.

The Chiefs grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first against Lexington starter Jake Vesling when Steve Passatempo (pictured) drilled a solo homer to left.

The lead went to 2-0 in the top of the third on consecutive singles from Tony Serino, Passatempo and R.J. Libby. Vesling escaped a big Chiefs inning when he struck out Matt Nuzzo and then got Ben Waldrip to bounce into a 4-6-3 doubleplay.

The Sox broke through against Zach Kirby in the home half of the third when Aaron Barbosa drew a walk and scored on Ross Curley’s RBI double to left.

Lexington pulled in front with the four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Beradino drew a one out pinch-hit walk and Dom Zaher followed with a single. Barbosa then reached on an infield single that loaded the bases. An infield error off the bat of Anderson Jimenez then tied the game at 2-2. A sacrifice fly from Jeff Costello, a hit batsman, another infield single from Kyle Aide, and a bases loaded walk to Morgan Brown put the Sox up 5-2 after four.

The Chiefs got a run back in the top of the sixth when Waldrip hit solo homer to right off reliever Bill Christopher.

The Blue Sox got that run right back in the bottom of the sixth on a Costello bunt single, a stolen base, and a Curley RBI single.

The Chiefs threatened but couldn’t score against former Red Sox righty Manny Delcarmen in the top of the seventh. Passatempo drew a two out walk and Libby reached on an infield single. Watertown, MA- Alibrandis scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to beat the Chiefs 6-2 on Tuesday night at Victory Field. It was the Chiefs second loss in as many nights as they saw their record fall to 7-4 on the season.

Second year righty Jack Fargo (pictured) kept the Chiefs in the game over the first four frames. The only run he allowed over that span was of the unearned variety in the bottom of the fourth. The depleted Chiefs offense was unable to provide him any support.

Matt Horan (1-1) went six innings to grab the win.

Fargo was relived by David Kerns after walking Juan Parra leading off the Alibrandis four run fifth. A Dave Lightbody double and a Mark Addesa single against Kerns gave the hosts a 5-0 lead.

The Chiefs cut the lead to 5-1 on Brian Bessler’s RBI double in the top of the sixth, scoring Manny Cabral who had singled. Alibrandis got that run right back in the bottom of the inning on Teddy Dziuba’s RBI groundout. They inched a bit closer in the seventh when R.J. Libby drilled his first homer of the year to right with two outs to account for the 6-2 final.

Libby and Bessler both ended up with two hits on the night as the Chiefs outhit Alibrandis 7-6 in the loss.
