Mustangs

The playoffs seemed to come early to VFW Field on Friday night.  PST's defeat of Willis in a tight 6-4 contest, combined with the Mustangs 14-11 8th inning win powered by a walkoff HR by Donnie Cusano, leapfrogs PST into second place.  For the moment.

The Mustangs wrapped up the #1 seed a long while ago and finish the regular season with a stellar 21-3 record.  This is the first 20+ win season in the league since the Mustangs and PST (known as Z's Sports Shop at the time) tied for the league title with matching 20-4 records in 2005.

Sunday's result will determine which team gets the 2nd bye.

If Willis Tent wins, they will tie PST with 14-10 records.  Willis then will be awarded second place by virtue of the second tie breaker.  The first tie breaker is head to head, which was a 2-2 split.  However, in the second tie breaker, run differential in head to head matchups, Willis wins by virtue of a 46-40 difference.  PST will end up with the third seed and play Drew Farms in the first round and Floral Arts will end up in fourth place and play Short Cut Landscaping.

If Floral Arts wins, PST will win the second seed based on a tie breaker with Floral Arts after taking the season series 3 games to 1 (despite Floral Arts outscoring PST in the series 28-27).  Floral Arts will then get the third seed and the matchup against Drews and Willis Tent will get the fourth seed and SCL in the first round.

Game time on Sunday is 5:30.  Should be a good one.

Tonight's game between Floral Arts and Willis Tent has been postponed due to the weather and field conditions.  The game will be made up on Sunday, August 29th.  Gametime is 5:30.

Tuesday night's games have been postponed due to the weather.  They will now be played on Friday, August 27th.  This will cause the start of the playoffs to be delayed until Sunday.

Weather caused the postponment of Sunday's game between Willis Tent and Floral Arts.

The game with be made up on Wednesday, August 25th, at 6:30 PM.

Due to the multiple postponements this week, the new projected playoff start date is Tuesday, August 31st.

With only rescheduled games to be played, several seedings are still to be determined. The first and second place teams get First Round Byes.

The Mustangs have the #1 seed wrapped up, seemingly since June.

#2 is still very much up in the air, as are the 3 and 4 seeds. Willis Tent and Floral Arts are currently tied, with PST still having an outside shot.  Willis Tent still has to play both PST and Floral Arts, so there is a lot riding on the outcome of the make up games this week.

The #5 seed goes to Short Cut Landscaping and the #6 and final playoff slot is locked up by Drew Farm.

SECOND ROUND (best of 5 series):  If there is a first round game on Tuesday the 8th, both Semi-Final series will start on Wednesday, September 8th. Game times will be 6:30 and 7:45. If both series are over in two games, both of the Semi-Final Series will begin on Tuesday, September 8th. Game times will be at 6:30 and 7:45.
