The Mustangs were the first team to earn a berth in the 2006 Finals. Their 8-3 victory over Drew Farms completed a three game sweep. Meanwhile, in the first game, Healy Oil jumped out to an early lead and held off Z's Sports Shop attempt at repeating their late game heroics of Game 2. Due to the Mustangs sweep, the Z's Sports Shop - Healy Oil game is the only one on Sunday and will be moved into the earlier 5:30 slot per league rule. Game 2 of the second round series was ruled by comebacks in both contests. In the first game of the night, a Todd Shepard 2 run HR brought Drew Farms to within one in the seventh, but the Mustangs held on to win 6-5. In the second game of the night, Z's Sports Shop put up 4 runs in the first before Healy Oil could record an out, but then gave up 5 in the bottom of the inning and 11 in the second to fall behind 16-4. An 8 run inning got Z's back into the game and eventually sent the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Larry Zupkosky singled to plate the go ahead run. In the bottom of the inning, Healy Oil's lead off hitter Al Boisvert doubled, but never got any further. The 22-21 final was reminiscent of games from years past when offense ruled the game. Game 3 of each series is scheduled to be played on Friday evening, September 15.

On another beautiful night for softball, the opening games of both second round play off series went to the visiting teams. In the first game, Healy Oil overcame a first inning 2-run HR by OF Jerry Cressman of Z's Sports Shop to win 5-2. The big blow came in the fourth inning when Healy's LF Bill McLaughlin cleared the bases with a Grand Slam that bounced off the light tower. The second game came down to the seventh inning tied at 5. The Mustangs loaded the bases with 2 outs and managed to push home a run to defeat Drew Farms 6-5. Both series continue on Tuesday night, first game starting at 6:30, with the Mustangs hosting Drews followed by Z's at Healy.

The second night of the 2006 Play Offs was a perfect night for a ball game. And for the higher seeds, as both completed two games series sweeps to advance to the Second Round of the playoffs. In the first game of the night, Healy Oil advanced with a 5 inning 14-1 victory over Short Cut. In the second game, Mustangs jumped out to a 7-0 lead over Mario's Restaurant after the first inning and coasted to a 15-4 win. With both the Mustangs and Healy Oil sweeping their first round playoff series, the second round match ups have been set. And they look very familiar. Regular season champion Z's Sports Shop will meet defending champion Healy Oil in a rematch of one of last year's second round series. Healy Oil swept Z's last year on their way to an undefeated romp through all three rounds of the play offs. In the second series, Drew Farms comes off the bye they earned as the second place team to once again face the Mustangs. This time around it is Drews that is the higher seed.
