SCL Forces Game 3

Posted by John Bodi at Sep 2, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

With a 6-3 win on Wednesday night, Short Cut Landscaping has forced a 3rd and deciding game with Willis Tent.  They will play on Tuesday night, September 7th, at 7 PM.  Please note the change in the start time.

In the other series, Floral Arts completed their sweep of Drew Farms with an 8-0 win.  This win gets them a second round matchup with PST.

The second round will begin at 6:30 on Wednesday night (September 8th) with the Mustangs playing the winner of the SCL-Willis series.  Floral Arts and PST follow at 7:45.

Game One Results

Posted by John Bodi at Aug 30, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

On the first night of playoff competition, the higher seed took both games.  Floral Arts needed a rally in the bottom of the 7th to come out on top of Drew Farms, 10-9.  In the nightcap, Willis rebounded from a tough final weekend to take a run-rule shortened game over SCL, 16-3.

Both series continue Wednesday night.  SCL and Drew Farms need to win to extend the series.

POST SEASON OPENS TUESDAY

Posted by John Bodi at Aug 28, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

A 14-7 win by Floral Arts over Willis Tent on Sunday evening gave PST the #2 seed for the playoffs and a bye for the first round along with the Mustangs.  Floral Arts finished with the #3 seed and Willis Tent with the #4 seed.

The first round begins on Tuesday night with Drew Farms playing Floral Arts at 6:30, followed by Short Cut Landscaping playing Willis Tent at 7:45.  Game 2 for both series is the following night.

If there is a game three in either series, it will be held on Tuesday, September 7th.  The second round would then start on Wednesday, September 8th.  If both series are won in two games, then the second round will begin on Tuesday the 7th.  Because the teams are reseeded, match ups will not be announced until the first round is completed.

Good luck to all!

Playoffs Come Early

Posted by John Bodi at Aug 26, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The playoffs seemed to come early to VFW Field on Friday night.  PST's defeat of Willis in a tight 6-4 contest, combined with the Mustangs 14-11 8th inning win powered by a walkoff HR by Donnie Cusano, leapfrogs PST into second place.  For the moment.

The Mustangs wrapped up the #1 seed a long while ago and finish the regular season with a stellar 21-3 record.  This is the first 20+ win season in the league since the Mustangs and PST (known as Z's Sports Shop at the time) tied for the league title with matching 20-4 records in 2005.

Sunday's result will determine which team gets the 2nd bye.

If Willis Tent wins, they will tie PST with 14-10 records.  Willis then will be awarded second place by virtue of the second tie breaker.  The first tie breaker is head to head, which was a 2-2 split.  However, in the second tie breaker, run differential in head to head matchups, Willis wins by virtue of a 46-40 difference.  PST will end up with the third seed and play Drew Farms in the first round and Floral Arts will end up in fourth place and play Short Cut Landscaping.

If Floral Arts wins, PST will win the second seed based on a tie breaker with Floral Arts after taking the season series 3 games to 1 (despite Floral Arts outscoring PST in the series 28-27).  Floral Arts will then get the third seed and the matchup against Drews and Willis Tent will get the fourth seed and SCL in the first round.

Game time on Sunday is 5:30.  Should be a good one.
