Improvements?

Posted by John Cartwright at Mar 10, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

My Sounding Board...

Park improvements are now rescheduled to start this summer. Two years after they were scheduled to start.

The two new fields are also still not done.

Current Field improvements should be underway anyday now. CGSA is paying for them.

Recently the city decided that they would no longer be in the cutting grass department. They made a decision to make the people using the city parks cut the grass. Baseball, Softball and soccer boards will now be responceable for getting the grass cut.

I do not know all of the events that caused this decision to be made, but we had to purchace a mower and pay someone to cut the grass. What is the city doing with the $ they saved and isn't the city responceable for taking care of the city owned lands?

Fall Ball Ends Early

Posted by John Cartwright at Oct 21, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

As you can see below, the Fall Softball Season has come to an unexpected early end. No More Games. Who would have thought that we would have had such a wet spring and fall this year? We had almost ½ of our games canceled to weather. At least it was not sleet, snow and ice like last fall. I know the girls have learned a lot form what little time we had. Anyone could see the improvement form when we first started to our last game. Even the umpires made remarks about how fast they were improving. I know I have enjoyed my time with the team. I hope they have learned something positive and made some long lasting friends. We will continue to have practices this fall and after the New Year, when the weather improves. I will let you all know when we will have a practice. We will be brining back some of the girls that could not play Fall ball and some new girls that are moving up. These practices will help them keep their edge and prepare them for spring ball. I will let you know when and where to bring the uniforms. We try to reuse them to keep the cost for the girls down… Please make sure they are clean. You can drop them off at the Day Care across form CUE School, if you want. Blue Building on 11th Street 3 blocks East of ACE Hardware. Please feel free to contact us anytime.

THANKS!

John Cartwright

Subject: Owasso Fall Ball: Monday/Oct. 22 Update (9:47a.m.)
Monday/Oct. 22 Update (9:47a.m.): Fall ball is officially over. There is no way we'll get the games in this week and another front comes in next Sunday night.  Thanks to all 40 of the teams who signed up for fall ball in Owasso and the hundreds of girls/parents/supporters who came out to the fields. Sorry we had so many rain-outs but weather is one thing we can't control. At the same time we do realize that our fields resulted in a few of the cancellations and we'll be taking measures this winter/spring to rectify those drainage issues. Hope to see everyone out at the park in 2008. Thanks again. Chris Greer
