Final week of Season

We had another great game on the defensive side today. We were able to shut down
their three scorers for the whole game. In fact, the majority of their points
came from the shorter free throw line meaning that we were contesting all of the
shots that they had. We assigned Brad, Kenny and Trevor in the first group and
Reed, Sammy and Jordy in the second group to guard their big three. We had
Sunny and Shaq in the middle if they made it past the first line of defense.
Christian and Troy were to come from the weak side and double for the steal,
they both had a couple of steals during the game.
Our offense was better again from the previous week as we continue to work our
new 1-3-1 offense with the proper spacing and timing of all the cutters to the
basket and looking for our centers as high and lost post threats to score.
Today's win guaranteed our team a co-championship for the season. Depending on
next weeks game against OCO we will either be champions by ourselves or tied
as co-champions for the SEYO league with either an 8-1 or 7-2 season. Remember
the 10th week does not count towards the final standings.
Remember, we have two practices this week. The first will be on Friday 2/9/07
at Mariners from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This will be a split practice where Coach Jon and
Coach Scotty will continue to perfect the offense and our new in-bounds play.
I will be working with Shaq and Sunny on their post moves and how to move
from high to low posts, footwork and passing inside. Our second practice will
be on Saturday 2/10/07 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Marina HS in Huntington Beach.
Please let Jon or I know if you cannot make either practice.
Have a great week and see you on Friday.

SEYO Season

Dear Force Parents,
As we are entering the last three games of the SEYO season we are going
to need a team effort against Norwalk this Sunday. In a four team division
the champion is decided after the standings of the ninth week. So if we
win against Norwalk this Sunday it would give us a 7-1 record going into
week nine against OCO. If we beat OCO we would be champions by ourselves
but if we were to lose then we would still be co-champions of the league.
The tenth week has nothing to do with the final outcome of the season.
We have requested some changes in our schedule for the next couple of
Saturday's to be sure we can get everyone to practice. Our practices
for the next two Saturday's will be at Marina HS on the South Court
(opposite of where we have been practicing before) from 5:00-6:30 p.m.
This should help those that have baseball practice during the day.
Let me know if you have any questions, please be sure that your child
gets plenty of rest and doesn't get sick going into the last 10 days of
our season.
Thanks,
Mark

Making Progress

Dear Force Parents,
We should be very proud of our FORCE team today. The boys played as well as
ever as a complete team. We had all 10 players score and our man to man defense
is getting better each week.
We are going to continue to work on our new offense, we also tried our new
inbound play and it worked well. We need to work on our half court press break
as OCO was using the press on Norwalk today.
Currently we don't have a schedule for practice this Saturday but we will try
to find out as soon as possible. We also might look for an alternate location
for Mariners for this Friday as Saturday seems to be hard for our team with
baseball practices.
Good job to all the boys, we will have ice cream for everyone since Jordy made
it to the free throw line today.
Have a great week and watch this website for the practice schedule.

Update for the weekend

Dear Force Parents,
We were not able to move our practice time for this weekend so it will remain
the same for Saturday 1/27/07 at Marina HS from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Please try to
let us know if you will not be able to make it this week.
In last weeks game OCBC beat Norwalk 23-20 so we need to be sure that we don't
take OCBC too lightly and we work on our defense that will shut down their
two scorers.
See you on Saturday,
Mark
