May Fees and June Practices

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jun 21, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Families, We hope that everyone is now out of school and summer officially begins !! We wanted to take care of some accounting right away. The fees for the Tigers Tournament was $43.75 which was divided by eight. No Trevor or Ty for this amount. The practice fees for the month of May was $120 or $12 when divided by 10 for everyone. Hollywood Dodgers Tournament T-Shirts at $15 if you ordered one with Jon. With the majority of the boys participating in the JW Summer Camp next week 6/25, 6/26, 6/27 we will cancel the 6/26 practice at SCCCC and move it to Saturday 6/30 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Also, if we have enough players I will hold a practice on Saturday 6/23 at the SCCCC from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Please let me know if you are interested. You can get extra free throw shooting practice which always is a plus. See you tomorrow night, Mark

Dear Force Families, We are scheduled to practice this Friday 6/22/07 at Mariners Christian from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the boys worked really hard on the press break last night. We also need to start working on the full court press soon. We need to continue to work on our free throws as it is the most critical part of our game plan. All players can shoot their free throws after practice on Friday night, remember our goal is 1,000 per player. Here is the update: Jordan - 80/120 for 67% Christian - 35/70 for 50% Ty - 112/180 for 62% Shaq - 136/190 for 72% Sunny - 90/170 for 53% Reed - 161/200 for 81% Troy - 35/70 for 50% Brad - 64/100 for 64% Austin - 48/100 for 48% Trevor - 50/70 for 71% As a team we were 811/1270 or 64% We still need to get better, our goal is 70-75% Thanks again, Mark

More Information

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jun 12, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Parents, We have tentatively scheduled the remainder of practices for the month of June 2007. There can be some changes if Mariners starts construction on their gym before the end of the month and if we can get a gym in the Cerritos, Cypress, La Palma area on Wed. nights. Please remember that during the summer we try to practice during the week and during the school year we try to practice on weekends. This is to help with the longevity of our parents so they can survive all year long. We will be sending a fee schedule for the practices in May 2007 as well as any tournament fees that we need to reimburse Jon and Wendy for. We still have not figured out how to enter the numbers on the stat sheet for the free throws that everyone can see on the web site. The stat folder is no where to be found in the administration section. Here are the beginning numbers (remember these numbers are from only their 15th month from the regulation line which are way better than a year ago) Austin - not started yet Brad - not started yet Christian - 35/70 for 50% Jordan - 53/80 for 66% Reed - 80/100 for 80% Shaq - 63/90 for 70% Sunny - 38/70 for 54% Trevor - 50/70 for 71% Troy - 35/70 for 50% Ty - 50/80 for 63% Total team numbers are 404/630 for 64% Let me know if you have any questions, thanks. Summer Practices

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jun 10, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Parents, We just finished a great first week of summer practices including a two hour workout with Jason Wright. The boys are in the start of a seven week training program where we will continue to improve on their skills, speed and execution. We finished our first night of free throws with most of the boys shooting at least 70 free throws each, remember our goal is for each one to shoot 1,000 by the Hollywood Dodgers tournament. We will have the numbers on the web this week for you to show the progress that they are making. The boys are so much better as a team then last year. We will work with them all summer on getting it right and to approach a free throw the right way. We will have practice this Saturday 6/16/07 at the SCCCC in Irvine from 9-11 a.m. to try and accommodate the various schedules of all of us. You can arrive anytime after 8:00 a.m. to get in your extra free throws. All I ask is that a parent count them in groups of 10 for our records. I hope the boys are not drinking any soda as we will be working them harder each practice to build up their stamina and to get them ready for Las Vegas. SPECIAL NOTICE: The VFW Force team would like to express our sincere gratitude to Coach Scott and his wife Tracie for providing the entry fee for our team to play in this years Hollywood Dodgers Tournament. Coach Scott's father never had the opportunity to watch the Force play and so this years tournament will be dedicated to him. Please let me know if you cannot make either practice for the upcoming week. Thanks again, Mark
