San Francisco Flying Eagles Tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jul 31, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hello all,

We have been invited to participate in the San Francisco Flying Eagles basketball tournament.  The Flying Eagles are a new youth organization in SF.  I've included their invitation at the bottom of this message.  We hope it's a start for us to get our foot in the door for next year's other SF invitational tournaments.

The tournament is the first week in October, 6 and 7.  Our VFW tournament is the third week.  We would ideally play up in the 6th grade tournament along with the SF team that came down to play in Jets versus the jamboree 2 game format.

The tournament itself costs $350 plus airfare and lodging.  Tracie is working with their parent representative and they are putting together airline and hotel packages.

I originally thought about departing from Long Beach but there weren't any direct flights to SF and the cost is more expensive.  Leaving out of LAX around 2 or 4 p.m. on Friday and coming back sometime Sunday afternoon came back around $88 to $100.

Mark, Scott, Tracie, Caroline, Kristin, Mary, Pom, Wendy and Myself have volunteered to take the boys if any parents can not make the trip up north.

Think it over and let me know if you have any questions.

We'll have more information at Saturday's practice.

Thanks and have a great week.
Jon

Ball size for the HW Dodger tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jul 31, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hello all,

If we forgot to tell you, we are using a men's ball for the Dodger tournament.  Let me know if you want to buy a Molten ball.  Synthetic indoor / outdoor balls are $20 and the indoor only balls like Reed's and Jordan's are $30.

Much cheaper than Sports Authority.

Thanks,
Jon

Recap of Jets Tournament and Summer Fees

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jul 30, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Parents, A rare loss for our boys this past Sunday, they played really well under the pressure of the championship game. We actually should have won that game but as coaches we got caught up in the moment and didn't make good decisions in the last 2 minutes of the game. Because of this we would like to meet all the boys 30 minutes before practice at 10:30 a.m. outside in the back of the gym at the picnic tables to have an open discussion about the game. We will be discussing sportsmanship, professionalism, positive attitude, confidence, teamwork and team support, game stategy and coaches effects to the outcome of a game. We still need to remember that Coach Jon, Coach Scotty and myself are role models to the boys and we need to set a good example to them as they grow up in the next six to eight years. We cannot become what we saw on Sunday. As for the fees in June, July and August 2007 here is the breakdown; June - (3) Mariners practices total $180, (4) SCCCC practices N/C July - (1) CT practice total $44, (3) SCCCC practices N/C July - Jets Tournament fees of $350 August - (1) Tustin Ranch practice $44 August - Dodgers Tournament fees N/C out of Force fund Total divided by 10 families is $61.80 for (2) Tournaments and (12) practices. Please write your check to Jon or Wendy when you see them. Thanks, Mark

Jets Tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jul 26, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Parents, Sorry for the early morning game (9:00 a.m.) tomorrow morning at Temple City HS We have been practicing at 9:00 a.m. for the past several weeks to prepare for this weekend as well as for the Dodgers Tournament when we will have two 9:00 a.m. gamea too. Please be sure to bring both RED and WHITE uniforms in your tournament bags. We will be eating a light snack between games at the Santa Anita Mall as we don't want any of our boys to get sick or sleepy after a big meal. I will be calculating our practice fees for the month of June and July. We have been very fortunate to be able to practice at the SCCCC, we utilized the facility a total of seven times for the past two months, this gym is very expensive and would have cost us over $1,000 for those practices. We will only be paying for Mariners and Columbus Tustin, we can thank WPC for letting us use the open time. See you all early in the morning, who is bringing the coffee for the coaches?? Mark

Tournament Information

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jul 18, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hi Force Families, Our schedule for the next two tournaments has come out as we have planned. Over the past few Saturday's we have wanted our boys to prepare for a 9:00 a.m. game by starting practice at 9:00 a.m., This has paid off as we are scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. game against the Pasadena Bruin Gameboys next Saturday 7/28 at Temple City High School. We would like all the boys to be at the gym no later than 8:30 a.m. ready to go. We would like our players to get to bed early starting on Thursday evening so Friday evening they will get plenty of rest for the next few Saturday's. We also checked out the area and we will probably go to eat after the first game at the Santa Anita Mall off of Huntington Drive which is only a couple miles away. Our second game that day will be at 2:00 p.m. against the San Fernando Dragons. Our Sunday game at 12:00 noon will be against the Warriors. It is very strange in all of our games this year we have rarely played at 9:00 a.m. but we also received the Las Vegas Dodgers schedule and we have two 9:00 a.m. games scheduled for that weekend too. The practice after the Jets Tournament will probably be Saturday and Monday. We also might have another practice if we need it. For the Dodgers tournament we will play with the mens ball and have full court press the whole game. Let me know if you have any questions about anything above, we will send out the Las Vegas schedule by this weekend. Thanks, Mark
