Back in town

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Aug 26, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We have returned from Japan yesterday and we thought Las Vegas was HOT, I think a couple of games the temperature was around 110 degrees with no A/C in the gym. Kelli's team went 2-2 and the two losses they were ahead in the fourth quarter but ran out of gas due to the heat.

Reed's sibling team went 2-0 and our parents went 1-1 but at least I made my free throws !!!

We will start to prepare for the upcoming San Francisco and VFW Tournament after the Labor Day weekend and after everyone gets back to school. We will try to start practicing on Saturday 9/8 and or Sunday 9/9 depending on gym time, etc.

We hope everyone is enjoying the break and we hope to see everyone soon, we're sorry that we missed the beach party last week but I'm sure we'll have many more in the future.

Let Jon or I know if you have any concerns or questions for the upcoming season so we can plan for the future, also please remember the VFW ads are due this week and we really need to try and raise as much money as possible to help our Force fund for future events.

Thanks again,

Mark

Force Beach Party and VFW Tournament Ads

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Aug 15, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hello Force families,

Hope everyone has recovered from Vegas.  The Nakakihara's are in Japan and the DeWeese's are in Hawaii.  We will celebrate the end of summer in our 1st Annual VFW Force Beach Party this Sunday.  I hope everyone can make it.  The boys deserve a day of fun and sun at the beach.

Other news.  Our VFW Tournament is coming.  If you can, try to solicit ads for our team and Force Fund.  We need to bring in $700 to cover our VFW tournament costs.  This year's $450 HW Dodger tournament and WLA's tournament was covered by our Force Fund.  As we plan our tournament schedule for next year we are looking at a few more travel tournaments up north in which the Force Fund can help defer some of the costs.

All of our ads are due September 1st.  Please see the Handouts section under VFW Tournament ads for the ad layout format and reference information.  We will try to do a full page team ad like before.  Kristin can you take the lead on this?

We can talk about ideas for the tournament this Sunday.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks and see you at Da Beech,

Jon

Tournament Results

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Aug 11, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

Another great tournament played by the boys both on offense and defense. Our first game against OCO-1 our defense played a big part in our 45-15 win, our second game was against the CBO Champions Venice Wizards and we were a little slow but our defense again helped us to a 30-15 win on Saturday. Our Championship Game on Sunday was against Norwalk who had been Silver Champions in all of their tournaments this year. We came out strong and pushed them for the whole game creating a 35-17 victory to become the 2007 Hollywood Dodgers Tournament Champions.

Our 2007 Tournament Record is 16-2 with Championships in Megalopolis Gold, FOR Gold, Tigers Gold and Dodgers Gold. We have finished second in the WLA Gold and Jets Gold Tournaments losing in the Championship game in both tournaments.

We should be very proud of our boys in what they have accomplished this year. Our free throw shooting helped out in this tournament with key free throws by our whole team. We also heard that Ty had a great free throw game hitting 11-13 and playing "Force" basketball for the OCBC Lightning team. But the biggest compliment came from the Varsity Head Coach of Silverado High School who came specifically to watch our boys play in all three games. He said our boys play the game like it's supposed to be played with good defense, good passing, structured offense and a full team effort. He also told the boys that if anyone of them was moving to Las Vegas that they could move into his school area and play for him anytime.

We are going to be taking a break but that shouldn't mean not touching the basketball. Our break is mostly for the parents and not for our players. We won't be practicing again until after school starts in September. Please have your son shoot and dribble until we meet again.

Have a great rest of the summer and we'll see you in September as we prepare for our next travel tournament to San Francisco in October.

We also need to pay Jon or Wendy another $8.00 for the last practice we had at Tustin Ranch Salvation Army on Monday 8/6/07.

Dear Force Parents,

Be sure that you bring both uniforms, shorts and warm up shirts to Las Vegas this weekend.

If you are flying please carry on the uniforms and shoes in case your check-in luggage

is lost.

Have a safe drive or flight, we'll meet on Friday night for Saturday's game plan.

Our first game is at 9:00 a.m. against OCO. We should be at the gym around 8:30 a.m.

See you in Las Vegas,

 Mark

Dear Force Families,

As we prepare for the Dodgers Tournament we are changing to a mens regulation ball and we are going to have full court pressure the whole game. So in order to be better prepared we will have a Monday night practice 8/6/07 at Tustin Ranch Salvation Army from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Please let me know if you cannot make this practice.

Thanks again,

Mark
