VFW Tournament Recap

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Oct 23, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We want to thank you again for all the time and effort that went into putting on this years tournament weekend. Jon has received e-mails from some of the teams and he will post them on this web site soon. We also want to officially welcome the Tanioka's and DeWeese's to the VFW family by participating in this years tournament, the weekend is always good to hang out with our families and have our boys just have fun.

Well, this years 2007 Tournament Season has come to an end. We started in the Tournament of Champions called the Megalopolis Tournament in March, WLA in April, FOR and Tigers in May, Jets in July, Hollywood Dodgers Las Vegas in August, San Francisco Flying Eagles and our own VFW Tournament in October. Eight tournaments finishing 21-3, Five Championships, Two Runner-Ups, One Third Place Finish in 6th Grade Division. Thank you parents for making this possible, bringing them to practice every week and having them work out on their own really does help. Thank you to Scott and Tracie who are adopted team parents, they have made this team such a wonderful experience for Reed and myself. Congratulations to all our boys for a season well done, hope they continue to learn and have fun while playing on the FORCE.

Moving forward in planning for the upcoming SEYO season. I will send another note later on today.

 Thanks,

Mark

VFW Tournament Details

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Oct 15, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

Well, we are only a few days away from our tournament. Coach Jon was at the VFW Post tonight and picked-up a van load of stuff for this weekend.

The game plan for our players is that they do not have to be at the games on Friday night but they do need to be in bed by 10:00 p.m. to get plenty of rest for Saturday. On Saturday the players need to be at the gym at 10:00 a.m., please have them go to Classroom "A" to stretch and to review our game strategy with Coach Scotty. We were very fortunate to have the gym coordinator schedule Classroom "A" for us to use all weekend at NO CHARGE.

The players will be shuttled to my house right after the first game around 12:15 p.m. and will return to the gym around 2:30 p.m. We will have food and drinks for all the players so don't worry about what to feed your son. We also ordered lunch for all the parents from OnoOno to be picked-up around 12:00 noon and brought back to my house. We will rotate all the parents to and from my house to be sure they eat, check their child and get back to the gym to cover for the next set of parents.

We will also need to be sure the players are in bed by 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night too.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Mark

VFW Tournament Schedule

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Oct 9, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

The schedule for our tournament is officially approved and distributed. We will play two games on Saturday the 20th. Our first game will be at 11:00 a.m. against the FOR Vipers, the Vipers were the Silver Champions from last years tournament and are required to move up to Gold.  If we win this game then we will play the winner of the Pasadena Bruins and Jets Wild Force at 3:00 p.m. We will be having our boys rest between games at Reed's house which is just down the street from Columbus Tustin Gymnasium. We will be sure to feed them lunch and to have them rest for our second game. Our game on Sunday will be either 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. depending on Saturday.

Let me know if you have any questions, thanks.

Mark

Weekend Update

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Oct 8, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

Our practice schedule is now confirmed for this weekend, Saturday 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Valencia HS and on Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mariners. We needed to move the practice a little later than originally planned to allow those at Loara HS time to get to Mariners.

There also is something this Friday night for those of us with minimal social lives. There is going to be a clinic for one hour with Jason from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at his warehouse in Huntington Beach.

THIS IS NOT A MANDATORY PRACTICE but you are more than welcome if you would like to come out. We believe that Trevor, Jordan and Reed will be working out, we are not sure of the fees yet but we will confirm it before the weekend.

Please let us know if you cannot make either practice, thanks again.

 Mark

VFW Tournament Practice weekend

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Oct 7, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hi Force Parents,

Well, we hate to do this to you but we only have one week to prepare for the VFW Tournament this weekend. We will have to make small adjustments like changing back to the women's 28.5 ball and working on our press and press break again as it will be allowed the whole game at this years VFW Tournament. The boys will be able to jump over the free throw line but we will continue to work with them on not jumping over.

We will have practice on Saturday at Valencia HS from 2:30-4:00 p.m. and we just confirmed Mariners for this Sunday but we are not confirmed with the time yet, we will probably have it scheduled for the early afternoon but as soon as we know we will update this web site.

The fees for practice time in September (9/16, 9/23, 9/30) and (10/14) at Mariners totalled $320.00 or $32.00 per player. There were no fees for using Valencia HS on Saturday's. Could everyone please pay Wendy or Jon the next time you see them.

Let me know if anyone has any questions or cannot make practice this weekend,

Thanks again,

Mark
