Jason's Friday voluntary clinic

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Nov 7, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hello all,

I just confirmed with Jason that he can work the boys out this Friday.  Jordan, Reed and Trevor will be there.  Again, this is voluntary as the boys will be working out from 9-?  I've learned from our past Friday's that I'm not going to give an end time.

Thanks, Jon

Weekly Update

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Nov 5, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We wanted to give you an update on a few items for the week, the first item is our possible entry into the SASF Tournament in Sacramento next March 2008. We currently have seven players committed to travel but we need at least eight before we enter. We will not add any additional players to our roster so if we can't field eight we will not enter. This tournament is one of the premier tournaments in Northern California and only carries one eight team bracket that we would be interested in playing. For more information about this organization and the tournament go to http://www.sasfquest.org/bbtourney/index.html and scroll down to the bottom of the page for "how basketball touched lives" you can also go to results 2007 and look at the Boys "D" Gold division, that is the division we are targeting next year.

We also wanted everyone to know that we are going to be playing in the 5th grade gold division in this upcoming SEYO season. We will have six teams in this division including OCO with Kendall Small, Norwalk, SOC, GEO Falcons and OCBC. We will play each team twice. We feel that this will provide our team with one year of valuable experience in the full court press and press break so that next year we can possibly skip 6th grade and go directly into 7th grade where all the main tournaments start their age brackets.

Also, just a thought. Most tournament teams usually have an annual meeting where all the parents and players get together to discuss the past season and to plan for the upcoming season. Do you think our team should get together to let all the parents, coaches and players discuss the future of the FORCE? We can have two meetings, one with the players and one without. Does anyone want to volunteer their house to talk?

Remember, Jason Clinic on Saturday 11/10 from 3:00-4:00 at Mariners (No Charge) with practice after from 4:00-5:00. Sunday practice at Mariners from 4:00-6:00. We will check to see if there is an opportunity again for a Friday night optional workout with Jason from 9:00-10:00 for $20.

Let Jon, Scotty or I know what you think.

Thanks,

Mark

Practice Information

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Nov 3, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

Scheduling gym time for any team seems to be one of the hardest jobs you can have. The hardest part has always been to schedule dates and times as early as possible to give parents something to work out their logistics with everything else that happens in our lives. We apologize for not communicating our thought process with the team but we do try to look at everything before making decisions. This past week was one of those decisions, as of Thursday evening we still had not heard from VFW in regards to our Saturday 11/3 practice time. We had already secured a back-up plan just in case as us three coaches had different events that we were committed to for late Saturday afternoon. The practice time for Mariners on Saturday 11/3 had been negotiated with their Athletic Director in exchange for transporting the portable baskets from WPC to them by Monday 11/5.  My company Norco Delivery provided the large Bobtail truck and driver to handle this request on Friday night thus providing us free practice time on Saturday 11/3. For next Saturday 11/10 Coach Jon and I will be working all day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Jason Wright at Mariners for a special clinic for 11 WPC teams. WPC has agreed to cover the gym cost for the day and Jason has agreed to train our team in exchange for the fees collected from the other 11 teams. Again, we will not have any fees for this Saturday practice.

So to summarize our fees for the month of November 2007;

11/3 - N/C, 11/4 - $80, 11/10 - N/C, 11/11 - $80, 11/17 - N/C, 11/18 - $80

The total for each family will be $24 to be paid to Jon or Wendy. We will not have any other practice expenses for Dec, Jan and Feb. as the practices on Saturday will be provided by VFW and we will have games on Sunday.

Starting in 2008 to help relieve some of the accounting pressure from Jon and Wendy all practice fees for gyms, etc. will be collected by myself. Jon and Wendy will still handle the tournament fees, etc.

Please call or e-mail Jon, Scotty or myself if you have any questions or concerns as it is imperative that we understand how each parent feels about our team and how we run it.

See you this afternoon,

Mark

SASF Tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Oct 31, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We have officially been invited to play in the SASF (Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation) next March 28th, 29th and 30th.  We need to know as soon as possible if you can make this tournament so we can send in our application as soon as possible. This tournament is very popular up north and fills up quickly so we need to act quick on this.

If anyone needs more information then they can go to their web which is http://sasfquest.org/bbtourney/ then go to the bottom of the page and you'll see 2007 results. Look at the Boys D Gold, this is the most competitive 5th/6th grade combination bracket that they host.

Please send either Jon or myself a response that will let us know how many players we will have for this tournament by this weekend.

Thanks again,

 Mark
