Continuing the Teamwork

Posted by Paul Skuta at Mar 26, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Last night I presented the Board with my most positive President’s report ever. The fact is that almost every team in our League bought into the fundraising event that was so important to our lighting project, and the result was that we netted more than $30,000! I thank all of you managers for representing the League to your team parents and to others so that the success of that event was never in doubt.

Now I must ask for you to do the same regarding spectators and teams bringing food onto the Little League premises. Local League Rule #1F clearly asks that no coolers, fast foods, pizza, etc. be brought into the area in respect for our Snack Bar and its purpose. Our pizza vendor, Straw Hat Pizza, will guarantee similar pricing for team pizzas and they will deliver when requested. In addition, Alameda Little League will make a profit. Please do NOT ALLOW your teams to organize team pizzas during or after games unless you do so through the League. All you need to do is email me in advance and we will assure your team is within our Local Rules in purchasing through our Snack Bar.

Board Members have been instructed to advise those who bring fast foods and pizzas onto our premises to remove tose items.. We don’t want it to get to that point so please explain to your parents that this rule was meant to assist sales of our own snack bar. Thanks for your help on this matter!

The Alameda Little League Board of Directors is proud to announce the formation of a new Division for 13 year olds. Opening Ceremonies, March 14 at Noon

Posted by Paul Skuta at Mar 8, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Opening Ceremonies begin at noon on March 14 at the Minors field adjacent to the snack bar. We ask that players assemble on the running track behind Minors starting by 11:45. Parents, if you want a good seat for the parade (and parking) you will want to get to the fields a bit earlier. Players will receive a free hot dog lunch. For your convenience the snack bar will also be open for business.

Little League Bat Resource Page

Posted by Paul Skuta at Mar 8, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The above link will take you to the Little League resource page regarding Bat safety. If that link doesn't work, cut and past the following into your browser: http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/baseballbatinfo.htm

This page will give you up-to-the minute info on which non-wood bats are licensed and permissible for Little League.  All bats that do not appear on the approved list are not allowed in Little League play. Bats must past rigorous testing. Bats must have the "USA Baseball" certification stamp. If you have any questions please ask a board member.

2015 - Umpiring Clinic

Posted by Paul Skuta at Mar 6, 2015 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

As almost all of you are aware, we will be conducting an Umpire Clinic on March 7th from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Little League fields. The clinic is designed to be specific in its skills and mechanics training BY DIVISION, so after a one hour session on rules we will break into an interactive session in which attendees will be trained during scrimmages, one at Rittler for A Division, one at Lippert for AA, and one at the Minor Field for AAA and Majors.

The quality of the umpiring during the season will be a direct reflection of the attendance at this clinic. If you do not have at least two or three volunteers March 7th to learn the correct mechanics, then your peers will know it by the quality of the umpires you assign to their games. Please assist in making a better League by getting umpires to attend.

We must have RSVP to track attendance by team, so please send your RSVP to Phil Woodworth: pmwoodworth@hotmail.com
