- Practice Times: Practice is 3:30 - 5:30 weekdays, rain or shine, unless otherwise announced. On minimum days, practice will still be at 3:30 due to the fact that many coaches have regular day jobs.
- How To Get an XC Stats Account: It is free. All athletes must have an account. Instructions here.
- The last day to join the Track and Field Team will be Tuesday Feb 12th!
- Track practice will begin Monday, February 5th at 3:30pm. Please report to the track field dressed in running attire.
- Practices will take place Monday-Friday 3:30-5:30pm, rain or shine, unless otherwise announced. This includes minimum days.
- Please make sure you have completed the Monte Vista Athletic Clearance Process. This is due by 1/26/19 and includes a physical exam within the last 12 months. Please click here to complete the process: https://www.athleticclearance.com For additional help click here.
You will not be allowed to come to practice if you are not cleared. If you are not a varsity returner and you fail to complete the clearance process the first week, you will be cut from the team.

A few reminders and updates for the week!
Team Photos have been postponed to Thursday March 14th due to weather and uniform distribution. Uniforms are IN and we will distribute them after practice tomorrow (Wednesday the 6th).
Volunteers - Thank you to those of you who have already signed up to help at our home meet March 21st. There are still many slots open though! Specifically we need an announcer for the Sr. Night portion of the meet and the meet itself! This could be split into shifts so grab a friend and watch the meet from the best seat in the house! We also need more help for the jumping and throwing events. So if you have an athlete in these areas please consider helping! Crab Feed - Thanks you to Kathy Kennedy for putting together our basket for the Athletic Boosters Crab Feed. She still needs donations though! Team Volunteering - There are 3 areas where we need your help for the season! Please see below how to get involved and support our team.
Home Meet - I’d like to start preparing now for our big home meet on 3/21! This will also be our night to recognize our Seniors! This meet needs all hands on deck! So please select a slot to help.

Athletic Boosters & Crab Feed The annual Crab Feed is coming up! In addition, Kathy Kennedy is making a basket for the nights auction with proceeds going back to our team as well. It will be a fitness / running theme and is looking for any related items or gift cards that you may be willing to donate! In addition, she is accepting donations so that she can purchase additional items to fill the basket. Attention Seniors! The MV Athletic Boosters has a Scholarship - Awards Program! Graduating seniors are eligible to receive a $1,000 award. Up to six (6) $1,000 awards will be granted to Monte Vista student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence through athletic participation, academic achievement, service to Monte Vista High School and their communities. The students do not have to be league MVP’s or have the highest grade-point average in the school. The committee takes a holistic look at the athlete, their commitment to the school and community, and how they approach athletic competition. The awards are split 3 for each gender, pending the number of applicants. Rules, eligibility guidelines, and the application form may be found on the MV Athletic Boosters website (http://mvathleticboosters.org/mvab-scholarship/). Deadline is April 8th.

BELOW IS THE MEET INFO FOR NEXT SATURDAY'S COMPETITION STOCKING “SUPER SEVEN” TRACK AND FIELD INVITATIONAL SATURDAY, February 23, 2019 At Diablo Valley College
9:00 AM-All field events will begin
9:30 AM-Running events and all other field events will begin.

LOCATION: Diablo Valley College 321 Golf Club Road Pleasant Hill, CA 94523
AWARDS: Places 1-3 in each event will receive medals. Team plaques will be awarded to the top two teams in each division.
ADMISSION: Athletes and coaches should check in at the Team Entry Gate. There will be a $5.00 admission charge for all adult spectators, and $3.00 admission for children over the age of 5 years old.
SPIKES: Diablo Valley College’s all weather track and runways require 3/16” needle spikes. Spikes will be checked at the gate. Replacement spikes will also be sold at the gate.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:59 PM Entry Guidelines: Each school is entitled to 4 athletes (per division) in all field events. Each school is entitled to 4 athletes (per division) in the open events and hurdles. Each school is entitled to three relay teams per division in the relays.

I wanted to send out some info about the team store. We encourage you to get some MV T&F gear as BSN has agreed to give us some money back to our team if we purchase a target amount!
The season is off to a great start and I know that the coaches are really excited about. Our first meet is in a few weeks and we are ready to flex some muscles against the best the Tri-Valley has to offer. We have gotten a few donations from you all and want to take the time to thank you for those! We have been able to order some equipment that was much needed so THANK YOU.
I want to reiterate how important it is that you all attend practice everyday. We have had people with multiple unexcused absences and that will most definitely result in any or all of the following.
• Being withheld from competitions
• Not receiving PE credit
• Being removed from the team
Be sure to communicate with your coaches so that you are aware of where you stand. Vacation is not an excuse to miss practice unfortunately. Again, please be sure to check out the team store and get yourself some gear!
