 In the Varsity 100m Dash, Twenty-six athletes competed from six schools. Chicago Leo Senior Joshua Thomas won it with an official time of 11.8851. Roosevelt Senior Markeon Bush finished in second place with an official time of 11.8852. Von Steuben Senior KiJuan Posley finished in third place with an official time of 11.94. Northside Junior Philip Wdowiak finished in FOURTH place with an official time of 11.96. Philip Wdowiak will be awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fourth place overall. Chicago Leo Sophomore Tyler Goodwin finished in fifth place overall with an official time of 12.00. Chicago Leo Sophomore David Moore finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 12.01. Northside Sophomore Jacob Cosby finished in eighth place with an official time of 12.33. Northside Senior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman finished in 13th place with an official time of 12.41. Northside Freshman Nicholas Brown finished in 15th place with an official time of 12.51. Northside Freshman Carel Jones finished in 17th place with an official time of 12.66.  In the Varsity 3200m run, Von Steuben Sophomore Jaime Marcos won it with an outstanding time of 9:53.57. Northside Senior Malcolm Grba ran the first 400m in 69.60 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 75.80 seconds (2:24.40 800m split), and then ran the next 400m in 76.17 seconds (3:40.57 1200m split), and then ran the the next 400m in 77.39 seconds for a 1600m split of 4:57.96. Captain Malcolm Grba then ran the next 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 76.08 seconds (6:14.04 2000m split), and then ran the next 400m in 79.54 seconds (7:33.58 2400m split), and then ran the next 400m in 81.16 seconds (8:54.74), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 76.03 seconds for an outstanding time of 10:10.77. It was the fastest 3200m run time by a Northside athlete this season. Malcolm Grba will be awarded a MEDAL for finishing in SECOND place overall.    imageimageimage

Northside Senior Adrian Black has missed the last four meets due to illness, vacations, and an injury. Adrian Black returned to the Chicago Northside Mustangs at the Eric Nelson Track & Field Classic for his first race since February 18, 2015. Adrian Black will be a big addition to the TEAM for the outdoor season.

 In the Varsity 3200m run, Northside Senior Adrian Black finished in THIRD place with a season best time of 10:40.47. Adrian Black dropped eleven seconds from the Evanston Indoor Classic (10:51). Adrian Black ran the first 400m in 77.91 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 81.75 seconds (2:39.66 800m split), and then ran the next 400m in 81.96 seconds (4:01.62 1200m split), and then ran the next 400m in 81.79 seconds for a 1600m split of 5:23.41. Senior Adrian Black ran the next 400m in a NEGATIVE Split of 79.33 seconds (6:42.74 2000m split), and then ran the next 400m in 79.47 seconds (8:02.21 2400m split), and then ran the next 400m in 79.98 seconds (9:22.19 2800m split), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 78.28 seconds for an official time of 10:40.47. Adrian Black will be awarded a MEDAL for finishing in THIRD place overall.

 Northside Junior Michael Rupprecht finished in fourth place with an official time of 12:41.71. Michael Rupprecht ran the first mile inn 6:24 and then ran the final mile in a NEGATIVE split of 6:17 for an official time of 12:41.71. Michael Rupprecht will be awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fourth place overall.

 Roosevelt Junior Cesar Rodriguez finished in fifth place with an official time of 12:44.15. Roosevelt Freshman Basil Peppers finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 12:57.82.

 Northside Freshman George McCoy finished in seventh place with a personal best time of 13:16.96. George McCoy ran the first mile in 6:28, and then ran the final mile in 6:48 for an official time of 13:16.96. Chicago Leo Junior Antione Dunning finished in eighth place with an official time of 14:10.44.

 In the Varsity 4x100m Relay, Chicago Leo won it with an official time of 44.44. Roosevelt finished in second place with an official time of 47.27. Northside finished in THIRD place with an outstanding time of 48.58. Northside Sophomore Jacob Cosby ran a 100m split of 13.15 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Josh Borgwardt ran a 100m split of 11.51 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Senior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman ran a 100m split of 13.21 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Junior Philip Wdowiak anchored Northside to THIRD place overall with a 100m split of 10.23 for an official time of 48.58. Jacob Cosby, Josh Borgwardt, Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman, and Philip Wdowiak will be awarded MEDALS for finishing in THIRD place overall. Ogden International finished in fourth place with an official time of 53.67. Von Steuben finsihed in fifth place with an official time of 57.86. imageimageimage

 The 4x800m Relay at the Eric Nelson Classic is named after Northside legends Patrick Brennan, Malcolm Grba, Danny Rosen, and Simon Kafka. In 2013, Chicago Northside (8:14.69) broke the school record and upset the East St. Louis Flyers (8:15.66) to Qualify for the State Finals in the 4x800m Relay! In honor of Northside IHSA State qualifiers and School Record holders, the 4x800m Relay at the Eric Nelson classic is named after Northside legends Patrick Brennan, Malcolm Grba, Danny Rosen, and Simon Kakfa.

 In the Varsity Patrick Brennan, Malcolm Grba, Danny Rosen, and Simon Kafka 4x800m Relay at the Eric Nelson Classic, Northside WON it with an official time of 9:11.89. On the first leg of the relay, Northside Sophomore Kyle Friedler ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 68 for a PERSONAL BEST 800m split of 2:13.80, and made a nice exchange to Sergio Soto. Northside Sophomore Sergio Soto ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 73 seconds for a PERSONAL BEST 800m split of 2:18.53, and made a good exchange to Brian McManus. Northside Sophomore Brian McManus ran the first 400m in 67 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 75 seconds for a PERSONAL BEST 800m split of 2:22.22, and made an exchange to Troy Hu. Northside Junior Troy Hu ran the first 400m in 66 seconds, and then anchored Northside to VICTORY by running the final 400m in 70 seconds for an impressive 800m split of 2:16.84 for an official time of 9:11.89. Kyle Friedler, Sergio Soto, Brian McManus, and Troy Hu will be awarded Plaques for winning the Varsity 4x800m Relay!

 Von Steuben finished in second place with an official time of 9:30.13. Chicago Bulls finished in third place with an official time of 9:54.11. Chicago Leo finished in fourth place with an official time of 9:58.37. Ogden International finished in fifth place with an official time of 10:33.07. Roosevelt finished in sixth place with an official time of 11:32.14.
