 In the Sophomore 800m run, Northside Sophomore Alex Ortiz ran the first 200m in 31.93 seconds, and then ran the next 200m in 33.07 seconds for a 65.00 400m split, and then ran the next 200m in 33.74 seconds for a 1:38.74 600m split, and then ran the final 200m in a NEGATIVE split of 31.56 to finish in THIRD place with a personal best time of 2:10.30. Northside Sophomore Alex Ortiz ran the first 400m in 65.00 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in an EVEN split of 65.30 seconds for a personal best time of 2:10.30!! Alex Ortiz was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in THIRD place overall. Alex Ortiz dropped four seconds (2:14.11) for a personal best time of 2:10.30. imageimageimage

 During the Indoor Track season, Freshman Kyle Lowenthal did not break 2:35 in the 800m run. On Saturday, Lowenthal ran a personal best 2:25 800m split in the 4x800m Relay, and ran a 2:30.67 in the open 800m!

 In the Sophomore 800m run, Northside Freshman Kyle Lowenthal ran the first 400m in 72 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 78 seconds for an outstanding time of 2:30.67.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside Freshman Nick Brown ran an impressive 200m split of 26.00 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Mason Sotomayor ran an outstanding 200m split of 29.98 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Christian Guerrero ran an impressive 200m split of 26.78 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Carel Jones anchored the Chicago Northside Mustangs to SIXTH place overall with an outstanding 27.25 200m split for an official time of 1:50.87. Nick Brown, Mason Sotomayor, Christian Guerrero, and Carel Jones were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in sixth place overall. imageimageimage

 In the Sophomore 1600m run, Northside Sophomore Alex Ortiz ran 400m splits of 72 seconds, 73 seconds (2:25 800m split), and then ran a 400m split of 74 seconds (3:39 1200m split), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 69 seconds to WIN the 1600m run with a PERSONAL BEST time of 4:48.59Alex Ortiz was forced to outside lanes in the final 100m, and outkicked the competition to the finsh line just like Olympian Billy Mills did in the 1964 Olympics. Alex Ortiz also had watched the movie "Running Brave", which is the story of Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills, the night before the Niles West Fred Zydek Invitaional.

 Northside Sophomore Alex Ortiz tied Alumni legend, coach, and mentor Patrick O'Conor on the Northside 1600m run All time list with the 17th fastest 1600m run time in the history of Northside! Alex Ortiz was also awarded a MEDAL for finishing in FIRST place in the Sophomore 1600m run!

 In the Sophomore 1600m run, Northside Sophomore Jakob Lemke finished in 15th place with a personal best time of 5:26.25. Lemke dropped 0.71 of a second (5:26.96) for a personal best time of 5:26.25. Jakob Lemke ran the first 800m in 2:39, and then ran the final 800m in 2:47 for a personal best time of 5:26.25. imageimageimage
