 Prior to Friday, the Northside School Record for the 4x200m Relay was 1:35.99. Northside had not Medaled in the 4x200m Relay at an IHSA Sectional Boys meet prior to 2015. Lane Tech had run a 1:33.38 4x200m Relay at the CPS Championships on May 9, and was one of the top seeds in the meet. 

 At the IHSA Sectional Championships, Northside would attempt to break the school record (1:35.99), and crack the Top 2 4x200m Relays to qualify for the State Championships.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Lane Tech dropped 3.65 seconds (1:33.38) to win it with an official time of 1:29.73. Congratulations to Lane Tech Coach Kris Roof, and Junior Kyle Williams, Senior Chris Gibson, Senior Malik Hamilton, and Senior Michael Hardman. Oak Park River Forest finished in second place to qualify for State with an outstanding time of 1:30.02. Congratulations to Oak Park River Forest Coach Tim Hasso, and Senior Chris Wright-Madison, Senior Desmond Bird-Murphy, Senior Benion DeViaughn, and Junior Tyron Jones.

 The Chicago Northside Mustangs dropped 2.83 seconds (1:35.99) to BREAK THE SCHOOL RECORD, and finish in THIRD place with an outstanding time of 1:33.16. Northside Junior Keith Jones ran an outstanding 23.73 200m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Junior Garret Barch ran an impressive 22.02 200m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Junior Justin Washington ran a 25.10 200m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Junior Philip Wdowiak ran an impressive 21.92 200m split to anchor Northside to Third place overall with an official time of 1:33.16

 Northside Juniors Keith Jones, Garret Barch, Justin Washington, and Philip Wdowiak will be honored in practice on Tuesday, and will receive Watermelons for breaking the school record! All four members of the school record 4x200m Relay are Juniors, and will be back in 2016! Northside also had a strong performance by Junior Steven Kataba in the 200m Dash (24.09). Keith Jones, Garret Barch, Justin Washington, and Philip Wdowiak received MEDALS for placing third overall in the 4x200m Relay at the IHSA Sectional Championships. Keith Jones, Garret Barch, Justin Washington, and Philip Wdowiak will also receive PLAQUES for breaking the School record at the June 5, 2015 Track & Field Banquet at the East Bank Club.

 Northside finished in third place with an official time of 1:33.16, and posted victories over: 4. Taft (1:33.46), 5. Proviso East (1:34.13), 6. St.Patrick (1:35.87), 7. Lake View (1:36.05), 8. Schurz (1:36.06), 9. Whitney Young (1:36.87).

 In the 110m Hurdles Prelims, Northside Junior Garret Barch qualified for the Finals with a personal best 15.73. Norhside Junior Justin Washington qualified for the Finals with an outstanding time of 16.45.

 In the 110m Hurdles Finals, Northside Junior Garret Barch finished in fifth place with an outstanding time of 16.38. Garret Barch was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in fifth place overall. Northside Junior Justin Washington finished in seventh place with an outstanding time of 16.46.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Senior Porter Abbey finished in seventh place with an outstanding jump of 19'00.50.

 In the 300m Hurdles, Northside Senior Porter Abbey won his heat, and finished in sixth place overall with a PERSONAL RECORD of 43.35. It was the fastest time by a Northside athlete in the 300m Hurdles this season! Porter Abbey was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in sixth place overall. Northside Junior Justin Washington finished in 12th place with an outstanding time of 44.58.

 In the 3200m run, Northside Sophomore Kyle Friedler broke his own Sophomore 3200m run record with a personal best time of 10:08.02. Kyle Friedler is one of the mustangs most valuable sophomores. During the 2015 Track & Field season, he won the Lake Forest Academy 3200m run, won the Indoor City Title in the 3200m run, anchored Northside 4x800m Relay to Victory at the Mike Van Deever Invitational, and helped the 4x800m Relay win the Eric Nelson Track & Field Classic, and Evanston Indoor Classic. Kyle Friedler also helped break the school record in the 4x1600m Relay, and won the 1600m run at the Evanston Indoor Classic, and finished in second place in the 1600m at the Mike Van Deever Invitational. Kyle Friedler had a BIG year!

 Northside Sophomore Alex Ortiz ran an outstanding time of 10:32.80. Ortiz is also one of the mustangs most valubale sophomores. Alex Ortiz anchored Northside to a school record in the 4x1600m relay, and won the 1600m run at the Fred Zeedyk Invitational, Mike Van Deever Invitational, and Lake Forest Academy Classic. Ortiz also helped Northside win the 4x800m Relay at the Indoor City Championships, Mike Van Deever Invitational, and Evanston Indoor classic. Alex Ortiz also finished second in the 3200m run at the Glenbrook North Spartan Classic. Alex Ortiz had a BIG year!

 In the Pole Vault, Northside Junior Brendan Powers finished in eighth place with an outstanding vault of 8'0.

 In the Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Jacob Cosby finished in tenth place with a throw of 38'05.50.

 In the Discus, Northside Junior Gabriel Krell threw an outstanding 86'10. 

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Sophomore Sergio Soto ran the first 400m in 64 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 70 seconds for an 800m split of 2:14.87. On the second leg of the relay, Sophomore Brian McManus ran the first 400m in 66 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 70 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:16.07. On the third leg of the relay, Sophomore Josh Borgwardt ran the first 400m in 67 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 75 seconds for an 800m split of 2:22.16. Northside Junior Troy Hu anchored Northside to tenth place by running the first 400m in 64 seconds, and then running the final 400m in 67 seconds for an impressive 800m split of 2:11.40 for an official time of 9:05.02.

 In the 4x100m Relay, Northside Senior Gabriel Jimenez-Ekman anchored Northside to first place in their heat with an official time of 48.19, and finished in 9th place overall. Sophomore Jacob Cosby, Freshman Nick Brown, Freshman Carel Jones, and Senior Gabriel Jimenez-Ekman were outstanding!

 In the 100m Dash, Northside Junior Philip Wdowiak ran a season best time of 11.67. Northside Junior Keith Jones ran an outstanding time of 11.75. 

 In the 800m run, Northside Senior Max McCoy ran a PERSONAL BEST time of 2:08.42!

 In the 200m Dash, Oak Park Senior Kelvin Elvans won it with an official time of 22.98. Prosser Junior Antwon Foster finished in second place with an official time of 23.03. Lincoln Park Junior Julian Dorsey finished in third place with an official time of 23.49. Proviso East Sophomore Devin Booth finished in fourth place with an official time of 23.50. Whitney Young Junior Kendred Belk finished in fifth place with an official time of 23.53. Lake View Junior Alex Marfo finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 23.65. Northside Junior Steven Kataba finished in 15th place with a personal best time of 24.09. Northside Senior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman ran an outstanding time of 24.69.       

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside Junior Keith Jones, Junior Philip Wdowiak, Senior Malcolm Grba, and Senior Tom Frejowski earned All Sectional Honors by finishing in sixth place with an outstanding time of 3:35.81. It was the fastest Northside 4x400m Relay time of the season! Keith Jones ran a 53.40 400m split on the first leg of the relay. Philip Wdowiak ran a personal best 52.73 400m split on the second leg of the relay. Malcolm Grba ran a 55.16 400m split on the third leg of the relay. Tom Frejowski anchored Northside to sixth place with a 54.36 400m split for an official time of 3:35.81. Keith Jones, Philip Wdowiak, Malcolm Grba, and Tom Frejowski were awarded MEDALS for finishing sixth overall.

The athletes listed above have earned a Varsity letter by scoring a Varsity point in a Track meet.

 The 2015 Chicago Northside IHSA Sectional Championship meet provided a very special Track & Field experience for all participants.

  Medals were awarded to the Top 6 Athletes in each event. Goody bags were also given to all participants on every team.  A special thanks to the Rosen Family, the Lowenthal Family, the McManus Family, and the Northside Coaching Staff for helping make over 350 goody bags for the IHSA Sectional Championships.

 Concordia University was spectacular. It is one of the best venues for a Track & Field meet.    

 A hospitality room in the Press Box (Sky Box) with food and drink was provided by Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon for all visiting coaches and Northside parents.

 A full course Pasta Dinner was also provided to all 16 Coaching Staffs at the Chicago Northside Seed Meeting on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 by Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon. 

 A special thanks to former Northside Sprints Coach Mark Morgan for serving as the clerk of the course, and for checking in over 350 athletes.

 The Team would also like to thank Northside Distance Coach Patrick O'Connor, Sprints Coach Vernon James, and Throws Coach Erasmo De La Cruz for helping with all of the heavy lifting of equipment before and after the meet, and for their outstanding coaching during the meet.

  The Team would also like to thank Northside Athletic Director Andrew Mayer for all of his help in preparation and meet management for the IHSA Sectional Championship meet.

  Northside would also like to thank IHSA Official Michael W. Gibbs for serving as Meet Referee for the 2015 Chicago Northside IHSA Sectional.

 Northside would also like to thank IHSA Official James J. Garvey for serving as the Head Starter.

 Northside would also like to thank IHSA Official Michael E. Schnable for serving as the Assistant Starter. 

 Northside would also like to thank Clark Jillson of AccuRace Timing ServicesThe meet was finished in record time thanks to the tremendous efforts of Clark Jillson. Clark Jillson also published the official results immediately after each event was finished on the wall. Team scores were also provided after each event.

 AccuRace Timing is also the official timer for the Eric Nelson Classic, William Penn University, the University of Wisconsin, IIlinois State, Marquette University, Ashford University, University of Dubuque, Grand View University, North Central, Knox College, and Macalester College. 

 Last, the Northside Coaching Staff would like to thank all of the Northside athletes that helped collect admissions, Distribute Awards, provided hip numbers for athletes, helped with the Hurdle Crew, and set up Hurdles for the 110m Hurdles and the 300m Hurdles. Hours after the meet ended, Northside athletes stayed at Concordia Univeristy putting away the Hurdles, covering the Long Jump pit, and covering the Triple Jump Put. Thanks again.
