 On Friday, February 26, 2015, the Northside Varsity Mens Track and Field Team traveled to Niles West High School in Skokie, Illinois for the Niles North Vikings Relays.

 The Track was 160m, and no spikes were used in any of the events. 

 The meet featured IHSA rivals Libertyville, Notre Dame, Northside, Maine South, Niles West, New Trier, Maine West, and host Niles North.

 Points were scored by placing as one of the top 6 individuals or Relays. MEDALS were awarded for the Top 3 places. RIBBONS were awarded for places fourth through sixth. The following point scale was used to score the meet: 10-8-6-4-2-1.

 Niles North won the 10th Annual Vikings Relays. Congratulations to Coach Paul Swanson and the Niles North Vikings! 

 In 2015, Chicago Northside finished in sixth place at the Niles North Viking Relays with 27.50 points.

 In 2016, the Chicago Northside Mustangs finished in fifth place with 51.00 points and posted victories over 6. Maine West (15 points), 7. Libertyville (13 points), and 8. Notre Dame (1 point).

 The Northside Distance Medley Relay School Record (2009, 11:03.99) is held by Alumni legends Charlie Mesimore, Wesley Laytham, Eric Nelson, and Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss. In February 2016, Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss recently appeared on the Judge Judy TV Show.

  In 2009, Charlie Mesimore ran a 3:29 1200m split on the first leg of that record setting relay in Bloomington, Illinois at the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Championships.

 At the 2016 Niles North Viking Relays, in the Varsity Distance Medley Relay, Northside Captain Alex Ortiz ran a 3:28 1200m split (one second faster than the record setting split in 2009), on the first leg of the relay to put the Mustangs in front. On the second leg of the relay, Northside Junior Jay Borgwardt ran an outstanding 400m split of 61 seconds. On the third leg of the relay, Northside Junior Sergio Soto ran an 800m split of 2:19.00. Northside Senior Troy Hu anchored the Mustangs to FIFTH place with a 1600m split of 5:28 for an official time of 12:16.50. Northside Junior Alex Ortiz, Junior Jay Borgwardt, Junior Sergio Soto, and Senior Troy Hu were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in fifth place overall.

 In the Sophomore Distance Medley Relay, Northside Freshman Daniel Panaganiban ran a personal best 1200m split on the first leg of the relay.  Northside Sophomore Mason Sotomayor ran an outstanding 400m split of 67 seconds on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Justin Bologna ran an 800m split of 2:51.00. Northside Freshman phenom  Kristopher Ushijima anchored the Mustangs with a 1600m split of 5:42 to finish in eighth place.

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles PRELIMS, Northside Senior Garret Barch finished in second place in his heat, and QUALIFIED for the FINALS with an official time of 8.10. Northside Senior Justin Washington finished in third place in his heat, and QUALIFED for the FINALS with an official time of 8.30. Northside Junior Christian Guerrero hurdled an official time of 10.20. Northside Junior Jack Nolan hurdled an official time of 11.00.

 In the Sophomore 55m High Hurdles PRELIMS, Northside Sophomore Asher Rappaport hurdled a personal best 9.64. Northside Freshman Jayson Coy hurdled an official time of 12.26. Northside Sophomore Xan Quang missed the Team bus to Niles West, which left at the originally scheduled time. Athletes have the responsibility to get to the meet on their own, if they do not take transportation provided by Northside.

 In the Varsity 50m Dash PRELIMS, Northside Senior Keith Jones QUALIFED for the Finals with an outstanding time of 6.30. Northside Senior Philip Wdowiak has missed a lot of meets, so it will take a little while to get his starts right. Wdowiak still ran an outstanding time of 6.60. Northside Junior Khizar Nandoliya ran an official time of 7.10.

 In the Sophomore 50m Dash PRELIMS, Northside Sophomore Nicholas Brown ran an outstanding time of 6.65.

 In the Varsity 55m Low Hurdles Prelims, Northside Senior Garret Barch finished first in his heat, and QUALIFIED for the FINALS with an official time of 7.90. Northside Senior Justin Washington finished second in his heat, and QUALIFED for the FINALS with an official time of 8.00. Northside Junior Jay Borgwardt hurdled a PERSONAL BEST time of 8.75. Northside Junior Christion Guerrero hurdled a PERSONAL BEST time of 9.15. Northside Junior Jack Nolan hurdled an official time of 10.20.

 In the Sophomore 55m Low Hurdles Prelims, Northside Sophomore Asher Rappaport finished third in his heat, and QUALIFIED for the FINALS with an official time of 9.20. Northside Freshman Jayson Coy dropped 2.28 seconds (14.08) with a personal best time of 11.40.

 In the Varsity Long Jump, Northside Senior Garret Barch finished in THIRD place with a PERSONAL BEST jump of 18'6. Maine South's Pistorious finished in fourth place with a leap of 18'4. Niles North Taylor finished in fifth place with a jump of 18'0. New Trier's Fowler finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 17'8. Northside Senior Keith Jones jumped an outstanding 17'4. Garret Barch was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in THIRD place overall.

 In the Varsity Triple Jump, New Trier's Niefman finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 35'2. Northside Junior Jack Nolan jumped an outstanding 31'1.5.

 In the Sophomore Triple Jump, Niles North Geans finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 30'3. Northside Sophomore Asher Rappaport jumped an outstanding 28'1.5.

 In the Varsity High Jump, Niles North Taylor, New Trier's O'Conner, and Niles West Turrel tied for first place with a jump of 5'8. The official scorer divided the points for first, second, and third, among them. Northside Junior Jacob Cosby and New Trier's Anderson tied four fourth place with jumps of 5'6. The official scorer divided the points for fourth place (4 points) and fifth place (2 points) to Cosby (3 points each) and Anderson (3 points each). Niles West Dino finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 5'4. Northside Junior Arjuna Lemke made three outstanding attempts, but was unable to clear the opening height.

 In the Sophomore High Jump, Northside Asher Rappaport tied for sixth place with a Niles West and Notre Dame jumper to complete the scoring with a jump of 4'8. The official scorer divided the point for sixth place among all three jumpers.

 In the Varsity Pole Vault, New Trier's O'Conner finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a vault of 10'6. Northside Junior Brendan Powers missed his second consecutive meet, and is in danger of being dismissed from the Team.

 In the Varsity Shot Put, A Maine West athlete threw the shot put 44'0 to finish in sixth place to complete the scoring. Northside Junior Jacob Cosby threw an outstanding 41'8. Northside Junior Matthew Kosova threw a personal best 32'10. Northside Junior Christion Guerrero threw an outstanding 27'10. Northside Junior Sergio Soto threw an oustanding 26'9. Northside Junior Vladimir Andrade threw a season best 22'4.

 In the Sophomore Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Mason Sotomayor threw an outstanding 18'7.

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles Finals, Northside Senior Garret Barch finished in fourth place with an official time of 8.30. Northside Senior Justin Washington finished in fifth place with an official time of 8.40. Garret Barch and Justin Washington were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in fourth and fifth place respectively.

 In the Varsity 50m Dash Finals, Northside Senior Keith Jones finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 6.80.

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Northside Junior Alex Ortiz ran a 2:11.93 800m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Sergio Soto. Junior Sergio Soto ran a 2:25.61 800m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Arjuna Lemke. Junior Arjuna Lemke ran a 2:29.62 800m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a good exhcange to Troy Hu. Senior Troy Hu anchored Northside to FIFTH place overall with a 2:23.96 800m split for an official time of 9:30.92.

 The Sophomore 4x800m Relay was forced to be scratched without Sophomore Kyle Lowenthal.

 In the Varsity 4x160m Relay, Northside Senior Steven Kataba exploded out of the blocks and ran a 19.89 160m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Garret Barch. Senior Garret Barch ran a 20.07 160m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a great exchange to Justin Washington. Northside Senior Justin Washington  ran a 19.61 160m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Philip Wdowiak. Captain Philip Wdowiak anchored the Chicago Northside Mustangs to second in their heat, and in third place overall with an impressive 19.44 160m split to BREAK THE SCHOOL RECORD with an official time of 1:19.50. Steven Kataba, Garret Barch, Justin Washington, and Philip Wdowiak were awarded watermelons for breaking the school record! MEDALS were also awarded to Steven Kataba, Garret Barch, Justin Washington, and Philip Wdowiak. This was the first school record for Northside Sprinters, under Coach Matthew Madera. The Chicago Northside Mustangs will attempt to BREAK THE RECORD AGAIN at Maine East on March 5, 2016!

 In the Sophomore 4x160m Relay, Northside Sophomore Nicholas Brown ran an impressive 160m split of 19.76 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Carel Jones ran an outstandfing 160m split of 21.47 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Noberto Nieves ran an awesome 160m split of 21.18 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Mason Sotomayor anchored Northside with an outstanding 23.59 160m split for an official time of 1:26.00.

 In the Varsity 1600m run, Northside Senior Danny Rosen finished in fourth place with a season best time of 4:34.40. Danny Rosen ran the first 800m in 2:16, and then ran the final 800m in 2:18 for an official time of 4:34.40. It was the fastest Northside time ever run at the Niles West 160m Track. The only other athlete in Northside history to run 4:36 or under at Niles West was Alumni legend Malcolm Grba. Danny Rosen was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fourth place overall. Northside Junior Kyle Friedler outkicked a runner from New Trier to finish in sixth place to complete the scoring with a PERSONAL BEST time of 4:42.30. Kyle Frielder ran the first 800m in 2:19, and then ran the final 800m in 2:23 for an official time of 4:42.40. Kyle Friedler was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in sixth place overall.

 In the Sophomore 1600m run, Northside Sophomore Jacob Yosowitz ran a PERSONAL BEST time of 5:21. Jacob Yosowitz ran the first 800m in 2:34, and then ran the final 800m in 2:43 for an outstanding time of 5:21. Northside Freshman John Kim ran the first 800m in 2:35, and then ran the final 800m in 2:52 for a PERSONAL BEST time of 5:27.

 In the Varsity 55m Low Hurdles Finals, Northside Senior Justin Washington finished in fourth place with an official time of 7.70. Justin Washington was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fourth place overall. Northside Senior Garret Barch finished in fifth place with an official time of 7.80. Garret Barch was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fifth place overall.

 In the Sophomore 55m Low Hurdles Finals, Northside Sophomore Asher Rappaport finished in sixth place with an official time of 8.90. Asher Rappaport was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in sixth place overall.

 In the Varsity 200m Dash, Northside Senior Keith Jones finished in SECOND place overall with an official time of 24.30. Northside Senior Justin Washington ran an outstanding time of 25.90.

 In the Sophomore 200m Dash, Northside Sophomore Nicholas Brown ran an outstanding time of 26.30.

 In the Varsity Throwers 4x160m Relay, Northside Junior Jacob Cosby ran a 20.07 160m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Junior Sergio Soto ran a 21.82 160m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Junior Vladimir Andrade ran a 23.56 160m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Junior Christion Guerrero ran a 23.19 160m split to anchor Northside to fourth place with an official time of 1:28.64. Jacob Cosby, Sergio Soto, Vladimir Andrade, and Christion Guerrero were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in fourth place overall.

 In the Varsity 4x400m Relay, Northside Senior Philip Wdowiak ran an impressive 400m split of 54.75, and made a perfect exchange to Jay Borgwardt. Junior Jay Borgwardt ran a 59.75 on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Kyle Friedler. Junior Kyle Friedler ran a 61.22 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Danny Rosen. Senior Danny Rosen ran a 57.65 400m split to anchor the Mustangs to FIFTH place with an official time of 3:53.50. Philip Wdowiak, Jay Borgwardt, Kyle Friedler, and Danny Rosen were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in fifth place overall.

 In the Sophomore 4x400m Relay, Northside Sophomore phenom Carl Jones ran an impressive 400m split of 59.17, and made an exchange to John Kim. Freshman John Kim ran a 64.54 400m split on the second leg of the relay, and made an exchange to Norberto Nieves. Freshman Norberto Nieves ran a personal best 62.26 400m split, and made a nice exchange to Jacob Yosowitz. Sophomore Jacob Yosowitz ran an outstanding 62.44 400m split to anchor the Chicago Northside Mustangs to FOURTH place with an official time of 4:08.41. Carel Jones, John Kim, Norberto Nieves, and Jacob Yosowitz were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in fourth place overall.
