 In the 200m Dash, Northside Senior Keith Jones dropped 0.80 of a second (24.10) to finish in SECOND place with an outstanding time of 23.30. Keith Jones was awarded a SILVER MEDAL for finishing in second place overall. The Top 16 athletes in the 200m Dash in the State of Illinois qualify for the Indoor State Championships. Keith Jones QUALIFIED for the Indoor State Championships with the 13th fastest time in Illinois with a 23.30! Keith Jones will travel to Eastland Suites in Bloomington, Illinois on Friday, March 25, 2016 in preparation for the Illinois Prep Top Times 200m Dash on Saturday, March 26, 2016.

 In the High Jump, Northside Junior Jacob Cosby finished in fourth place with an outstanding leap of 5'6.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Senior Garret Barch finished in fourth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding jump of 18'7.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Senior Garret Barch finished in fifth place with an outstanding jump of 35'10.

 In the Shot Put, Northside Junior Jacob Cosby finished in THIRD place with a good throw of 39'7.75. Jacob Cosby is closing in on the school record (43'5) for Shot Put. Jacob Cosby was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Junior Brian McManus ran 200m splits of 30, 33 (63 400m), 34 (1:37 600m), and then ran the final 200m in 35 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:12.74, and made a nice exchange to Sergio Soto. Brian McManus dropped 4.65 seconds (2:17.39) off his best time with an impressive 800m split of 2:12.74. Northside Junior Sergio Soto received the baton in fourth place, and went to work right away by moving Northside into third place with 200m splits of 31, 33 (64 400m), 36 (1:40 600m), and then ran the final 200m in 35 seconds for an outstanding 800m split of 2:15.91, and made a good exchange to Troy Hu. Sergio Soto dropped 3.09 seconds (2:19.00) off his season best time with an outstanding 800m split of 2:15.91. Northside Senior Troy Hu ran 200m splits of 31, 33 (64 400m), 36 (1:40 600m), and then ran the final 200m in an EVEN split of 36 seconds for a good 800m split of 2:16.51, and made a perfect exchange to Jacob Yosowitz. Troy Hu dropped 5.13 seconds (2:21.64) off his season best time with an outstanding 800m split of 2:16.51. Northside Sophomore Jacob Yosowitz received the baton in fourth place, and immediately past Taft, and then went to work on Mather with impressive 200m splits of 28, 32 (60 400m), 35 (1:35 600m), and 40 seconds to anchor the Chicago Northside Mustangs to SECOND place with a personal best 800m split 2:15.14 for an official time of 9:00.45. Jacob Yosowitz dropped 10.70 seconds (2:25.84) off his best time with an impressive 800m split of 2:15.14 to move the Chicago Northside Mustangs from fourth place to the MEDAL STAND by passing Taft and Mather for an outstanding second place finish at the Indoor City Championships!

 A week prior to the meet, Yosowitz earned a Pineapple in practice by running 9x300m in 44 seconds. After the workout, the Northside Coaching staff told him he would drop ten seconds at the Indoor City Championships. Yosowitz ran a pure guts race as anchor, and dropped ten seconds as promised off his best 800m time to secure vital points for the Mustangs.

 Brian McManus, Sergio Soto, Troy Hu, and Jacob Yosowitz were awarded SILVER MEDALS for finishing in SECOND place at the Indoor City Championships.

 Mather finished in third place with an official time of 9:07.42. Taft finished in fourth place with an official time of 9:10.11. Prosser finished in fifth place with an official time of 9:29.96. Hubbard finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 9:34.92.

 In the 800m run, Northside Captain Alex Ortiz finished in fourth place with an impressive time of 2:07.64. Northside Junior Alex Ortiz broke free from a crowded start to run the first 200m in 30 seconds, and then ran the next 200m in 33 seconds for a 400m split of 63 seconds. Alex Ortiz then ran the next 200m in a NEGATIVE split of 31 seconds for a 600m split of 1:34, and then ran the final 200m in 33 seconds to finish in fourth place in Chicago to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding time of 2:07.64.

 In 2015, Alex Ortiz fastest open INDOOR 800m time was a 2:14.19.

 In 2016, Alex Ortiz ran a open INDOOR 800m time of 2:07.64 at the Indoor City Championships, for a time drop of 6.55 seconds from 2015 to 2016!!

 Ortiz also had a BIG day in the 4x400m Relay. He split a personal best 56.29 400m to put Northside on the MEDAL stand.

 In the 60m Dash, Northside Freshman Osazee Osaghae earned the honors of competing at the Indoor City Championships by running a 5.93 in the 50 yard dash at the Fenton Bison Indoor Classic on March 9, 2016. Osazee Osaghae is going to be a very special sprinter, especially when you add another 40m to the race for the 100m dash for Outdoor Track season. At the Indoor City Championships, Osazee Osaghae finished ahead of Whitney Young Lorenzo Bautista (7.78), and Kenwood Junior Kolani Cole (8.36) with a personal best time of 7.68.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Simeon won with an official time of 1:36.80. Kenwood finished in second place with an official time of 1:37.22. Chicago Northside finished in THIRD place with a season best time of 1:37.28. Brooks finished in fourth place with an official time of 1:37.76. Hubbard finished in fifth place with an official time of 1:38.96. Clark finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 1:40.19.

 It took a time of 1:36.40 to qualify for the 2016 Indoor State Championships in the 4x200m Relay.  Northside came within 0.88 of a second for qualifying for the Indoor State Championships.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside Sophomore phenom Nicholas Brown ran an outstanding 200m split of 24.64 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Senior Steven Kataba ran an outstanding 200m split of 24.72 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Senior Justin Washington ran an impressive 200m split of 23.19 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Senior Keith Jones anchored the Mustangs to THIRD place with an impressive 24.35 200m split for an official time of 1:37.28. Nicholas Brown, Steven Kataba, Justin Washington, and Keith Jones were awarded BRONZE MEDALS for finishing in third place overall.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside won the first heat, and finished in second place overall with an official time of 3:42.78. Junior Jay Borgwardt ran the first 200m in 25 seconds, and then ran the final 200m in 29 seconds for a 54.63 400m split on the first leg of the relay. Senior Steven Kataba ran the first 200m in 28 seconds, and then ran the final 200m in 29 seconds for a 57.27 400m split on the second leg of the relay. Junior Alex Ortiz ran the first 200m in 28 seconds, and then ran the final 200m in an EVEN split of 28 seconds for a 56.29 400m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Senior Danny Rosen anchored the Mustangs by running the first 200m in 26 seconds, and then ran the final 200m in 27 seconds for a 53.54 400m split for an official time of 3:42.78. Jay Borgwardt, Steven Kataba, Alex Ortiz, and Danny Rosen were awarded SILVER MEDALS for finishing in second place overall.
