The athletes listed above have earned a Varsity letter by scoring a Varsity point in a Track meet.

 On Friday, March 25, 2016, Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon, Distance Coach Michael Giberson, Sprints Coach Mathew Madera, Northside Senior Danny Rosen, Junior Kyle Friedler, Junior Alex Ortiz, Junior Brian McManus, Senior Violet Sackett, Junior Fiona Casey, Sophomore Sara McCoy, Junior Anna Pasek, Junior Sylwia Balata, Freshman Erin Franke, Freshman Faith Zehfuss, and Freshman Erin Goldman traveled to Bloomington, Illinois for the Indoor State Championships (Illinois Top Times).

 The Mustangs stayed at Eastland Suites in Bloomington, Illinois. The suites contain two floors of rooms with a staircase, two bathrooms, Plasma Televisions, and a full size kitchen with a large refigerator and microwave. A special thanks to Northside Principal Kelly Mest and Athletic Director Andrew Mayer for the wonderful accomodations.

 After Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon treated the TEAM to a fine dinner at Olive Garden at his own expense, Northside returned to the hotel to rest up for the Indoor State Championships.

 On Saturday, March 26, 2016, the Indoor State Championships took place at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The stadium was filled to its capacity, with people standing in the upper deck just to get a glimpse of the meet. Indoor State was also broadcasted live on the internet at runnerspace.com. 

 The stadium at Illinois Wesleyan University featured a 200m Track, multipurpose room for Team camps, warm-up room for athletes adjacent to the track, upper deck seating, a video screen, showing the results of all the events throughout the meet, and a play-by-play announcer who gave live commentary on every event that took place.

 The Northside School Record (9:37) for the 3200m run has lasted since 2004. It was the oldest school record at Northside College Prep. It was held by John Krumsee. John Krumsee was coached in the sport of Cross Country by Principal Kelly Mest. 

 In High School, John Krumsee won the individual CPS City Cross Country Title, and also won the individual IHSA Regional Cross Country Titles during his Junior and Senior year. In College, he was the number one runner for NCAA Division I Creighton from Sophomore through Senior year, and holds all of their collegiate distance records. John Krumsee graduated from Creighton with a degree in Economics.

 Northside Junior Kyle Friedler has won the Indoor City Title in the 3200m run for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). Most recently, Kyle Friedler ran a personal best of 9:49.43 to win the 2016 Indoor City Title and Qualify for the Indoor State Championships.

 In Bloomington, Illinois, on Saturday, March 26, 2016, Kyle Frielder was issued race number 730 for the Class 2A Indoor State Championships (Illinois Top Times) for the 3200m run.

 In the 3200m run, Northside Captain Kyle Friedler ran the first 400m in 73 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 70 seconds (2:23 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 71 seconds (3:34 1200m), and then ran the next 400m in 72 seconds (4:46 1600m), and then ran the next 400m in 72 seconds (5:58 2000m), and then ran the next 400m in 72 seconds (7:10 2400m), and then ran the next 400m in 74 seconds (8:24 2800m), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 68.77 seconds to BREAK THE SCHOOL RECORD (9:37) with a personal best time of 9:32.77.

 Northside Junior Kyle Frielder ran the first mile in 4:46, and then ran an EVEN split of 4:46 on the final mile to finish in fifth place in Illinois with a personal best time of 9:32.77. Kyle Friedler dropped 17 seconds (9:49.43) off his best time with a NEW school record of 9:32.77. Kyle Friedler was honored at Illinois Top Times on the MEDAL stand with a very impressive medal for finishing fifth in Illinois! Kyle Friedler will also be honored again in practice on Monday with a Watermelon for breaking the school record in the 3200m run!!

 Prior to Saturday, only one Northside athlete (Mac Melto, 400m, 2012) had ever won an event at Illinois Top Times (Indoor State Championships). Northside alumni legend Mac Melto is currently a Senior at NCAA Division I DePaul, and has won five Big East Titles during his collegiate career. Melto still holds the Illinois Top Times meet record for the Class 2A 400m (49.25).

 On Saturday, March 26, 2016, Northside Senior Danny Rosen made history by becoming the second athlete in Northside history to WIN an event at the Indoor State Championships.

 In the 800m run, Northside Captain Danny Rosen was tripped on the very first turn of the race. Rosen did not give up. Rosen recovered instantely, and immediately worked his way back to the front of the pack. Danny Rosen ran the first 200m in 29 seconds, and then ran the next 200m in 32 seconds (61 400m), and then ran the next 200m in 29 seconds (1:30 600m), and then ran the final 200m in 30 seconds to WIN the Class 2A 800m run! Danny Rosen ran the first 400m in 61 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 59.16 seconds to WIN the 800m run with an official time of 2:00.21! Danny Rosen was honored at Illinois Top Times on the MEDAL stand with a very impressive medal for finishinig FIRST in Illinois! 

 In the 1600m run, Northside Junior Danny Rosen ran the first 800m in 2:17, and then ran the final 800m in a NEGATIVE split of 2:15.56 to finish in 11th place with an outstanding time of 4:32.56.

 In the 200m Dash, Northside Senior Keith Jones finished in 8th place to reach the MEDAL stand with an outstanding time of 23.50. In a nice ceremony, Keith Jones was awarded a Medal for finishing in 8th place in Illinois!

 On Sunday, March 20, 2016, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Henry Crown Field House at the University of Chicago for the Chicago Public League "A" Division Indoor City Championships.

 Henry Crown Field house featured an athlete friendly atmosphere, upper deck seating, and the best 200m Indoor Track in Chicago. Henry Crown Field house has been the host to numerous National meets, and local Championship meets as well. The Varsity letter was invented in the1890s by Amos Alonzo Stagg as he was sitting on the entrance steps to Henry Crown Field house. The main wall of the stadium contains a list of field house records, which include several Olympians. The first Heisman Trophy winner (1935), Jay Berwanger is still listed on the all time list for Henry Crown Field house for the 55m dash. Henry Crown Field house is a Chicago landmark that is rich in Track & Field history.

 From 2011-2013, Northside finished in second place at the Varsity Chicago Public League Indoor Championships.

 From 2014-2015, Northside won the "A" Division of the Varsity Indoor City Championships.

 Northside has finished in the Top 2 at the Indoor Championships for five consecutive years.

 To win the 2016 Varsity Indoor City Championships, it would require Northside to have some of the most incredible performances in the history of the program. 

 The "A" division of the 2016 Varsity Indoor City Championships featured a very impressive field. Among others, Chicago Whitney Young won the 2015 Varsity Outdoor City Championships. Perspectives Charter won the indoor city title in 2013. Simeon had also won the indoor Title as recently as 2011. Lindblom, Taft, Kenwood, and Mather also have outstanding Teams. It was an incredible field, and a very special meet.

  The 2016 Varsity Indoor City Championships featured non-stop action and intense competition in every event.

 Chicago Northside WON the 2016 Indoor City Title with a score of 85 points, and posted victories over: 2. Whitney Young (60 points), 3. Taft (52 points), 4. Kenwood (44 points), 4. Mather (44 points), 6. Brooks (36 points), 7. Prosser (32 points), 8. Clark (29 points), 9. Simeon (20 points), 10. Hubbard (16 points), 11. Solorio Academy (14 points), and 12. Lindblom (9 points).

 In addition to the TEAM title, Northside had 3 Individual Indoor City Champions.

 In the 3200m run, Northside Captain Kyle Friedler WON it with a personal best time of 9:49.43. Northside Junior Kyle Friedler ran the first mile in 4:48, and then ran the final mile in 5:01 for an outstanding time of 9:49.43. Kyle Friedler was awarded a GOLD MEDAL for winning the Indoor City Title in the 3200m run! Kyle Friedler also passed Alumni legend Cooper Eben (9:55) on the All Time list for the fourth fastest time in Northside history! It was also the fastest INDOOR time in Northside history. Kyle Friedler also QUALIFIED for the Indoor STATE Championships. Kyle Friedler will travel to Eastland Suites on Friday, March 25, 2016 in Bloomington, Illinois in preparation for the Class 2A Illinois Prep Top Times 3200m run. The Indoor STATE Championships will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2016. 

 In the 60m High Hurdles, Northside Senior Justin Washington WON the Indoor City Title with a personal best time of 9.03. Justin Washington was awarded a GOLD MEDAL for winning the Indoor City Title in the 60m High Hurdles! Brooks Senior Camron Durr finished in second place with an official time of 9.17. Taft Junior Osama Abooun finished in third place with an official time of 9.69. Mather Senior O'Neal Nugent finished in fourth place with an official time of 9.72. Hubbard Senior Tommie Hope finished in fifth place with an official time of 10.19. Kenwood Sophomore Julian Starks finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 11.26.

 In the 1600m run, Northside Captain Danny Rosen WON it with a season best time of 4:27.83. Northside Senior Danny Rosen ran the first 800m in 2:15, and then ran the final 800m in a NEGATIVE split of 2:12 for an outstanding time of 4:27.83. Danny Rosen was awarded a GOLD MEDAL for winning the Indoor City Title in the 1600m run! It was also the fastest INDOOR time of his athletic career. Danny Rosen also QUALIFIED for the Indoor STATE Championships in both the 800m run and the 1600m run! Danny Rosen will travel to Eastland Suites on Friday, March 25, 2016 in Bloomington, Illinois in preparation for the Class 2A Illinois Prep Top Times 800m and 1600m. The Indoor STATE Championships will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
