 On Saturday, March 10, 2012, the Northside Varsity Mustangs traveled to De La Salle High School at 3455 South Michigan Ave., in Chicago, Illinois for the De LaSalle Meteors "Pre Conference" Invitational.

 The entrance way to the Indoor Track & Field Stadium, featured a statue of a famous De La Salle Alumni, the former Mayor Richard Daley.

 It was the largest Track Meet in Illinois on Saturday, with 17 Teams including: Leyden, Brooks, Northside, Dunbar, Kelvyn Park, Fenger, Kelly, Orr Academy, Harper, Hubard, Corliss, Kennedy, Taft, Foreman, Perspectives MSA, CICS-Ellison, and host De LaSalle High School. The competition was outstanding in every event.

 A special thanks to De LaSalle Head Coach Robell McMiller, and his coaching staff, for hosting an outstanding meet. Coach McMiller showed great sportsmanship by rewarding the Northside Mustangs with their early arrival to the meet, by allowing Northside to be one of the first Teams to set up camp in the stadium.

 The point scale for individual events and relays was 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. Athletes that placed in the Top 3 were rewarded with Track & Field Medals.

 In the Shot Put, Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter threw a personal best 32'09. Northside Junior Kapil Garg threw an outstanding 31'03.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Senior Josh Williams jumped an outstanding 18'6.50 to finish in fifth place. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey jumped a personal best 17'9.00.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Senior Josh Williams jumped an outstanding 38'03.00 to finish in SECOND place. Northside Sophomore Karl Heinz was scratched from the meet. Josh Williams was awarded a Medal for placing second overall. 

 In the High Jump, Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in fourth place with a jump of 5'8. Northside Senior Josh Williams finished in a tie for sixth place with a jump of 5'4.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside finished in third place with an official time of 9:08.51. Northside Senior Dan Graham ran a 2:09.09 800m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Senior Joseph Smith ran a 2:18.55 800m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Robert Szmurlo ran a 2:20.97 800m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Senior Pat Duffy ran a 2:19.53 800m split to anchor the Mustangs to third place with an official time of 9:08.51. Dan Graham, Joseph Smith, Robert Szmurlo, and Pat Duffy were awarded medals for placing third overall.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 55m High Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Joel Deleon finished in sixth place with an official time of 11.57. Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter finished in seventh place with an official time of 14.11.

 In the 55m High Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in fifth place with an official time of 8.64. Northside Sophomore Walter Johnson-Geis ran an outstanding time of 10.69. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne ran an outstanding time of 10.97.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 55m Dash, Northside Sophomore Jay Yu ran a personal best time of 7.47. Northside Freshman Connor Fulton ran a personal best time of 8.00.

 In the 55m Dash, Northside Senior Mac Melto finished in third in his heat, and fourth overall with an outstanding time of 6.49. Northside Junior Nathaniel Agharese edged DeLaSalle Carneal Owens (6.65) to finished fifth overall with an outstanding time of 6.64. Northside Freshman Tom Frejowski ran an outstanding time of 7.22. 

 In the 1600m run, Northside Senior Ezra Edgerton ran the first 800m in 2:23, and then ran the final 800m in 2:26 to WIN it with an outstanding time of 4:49.92. Edgerton had an incredible kick in the final 400m of the race. Ezra Edgerton was awarded a gold medal for winning the 1600m run. Brooks Malik Lee finished in second place with an official time of 4:52.20. Northside Junior Patrick Brennan ran the first 800m in 2:22, and then ran the final 800m in 2:30 for an outstanding time of 4:52.67. Patrick Brennan was awarded a bronze medal for placing third in the 1600m run. Hubbard Paul Salinas finished in fourth place with an official time of 4:55.51. Kennedy Leonardo Flores finished in fifth place with an official time of 5:04.06. DeLaSalle Matt Edelhauser finished in sixth place with an official time of 5:05.02. Leyden Pedro Solis finished in seventh place with an official time of 5:07.28. Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino finished in eighth place to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 5:07.50.

 In the 400m run, Northside Freshman Tom Frejowski ran an outstanding time of 56.31 to complete the scoring by finishing in eighth place out of 36 runners. Frejowski has had a huge impact for the Mustangs. Northside Senior Joseph Smith ran a personal best time of 61.84.

 In the 4x160m Relay, Northside Sophomore Jay Yu ran a 22.13 160m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey ran a 20.93 160m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne ran a 21.55 160m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter anchored the Mustangs with a 22.80 160m split for an official time of 1:27.54.

 In the 800m run, Northside Senior Dan Graham finished in fifth place with an official time of 2:10.03. Northside Senior Mac Melto ran in the 800m run for strength as part of his training in preparation for lllinois Prep Top Times. Melto paced himself perfectly off Graham, and ran an official time of 2:12.86 to finish in seventh place overall. Northside Junior Patrick Brennan finished in eighth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:15.36.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 200m Dash, Northside Freshman Connor Fulton ran an outstanding time of 28.91.

 In the 200m Dash, Northside Junior Nathaniel Agharese finished in seventh place overall with an official time of 24.63. Northside Senior Joseph Smith ran an outstanding time of 28.56.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside Senior Dan Graham, Senior Josh Williams, Freshman Porter Abbey, and Senior Mac Melto finished second in their heat, and fourth overall with an official time of 4:02.09.

 The Northside Varsity had a record of 13-3 on the day, and a season record of 41-13!

 On Wednesday, March 7, 2012, the Northside Sophomore-Freshman Boys and a limited number of Varsity athletes traveled to Bensenville, Illinois to Bison Stadium for the Fenton Indoor Classic. 

 Fenton is the home of the Metro Suburban Conference Track and Field Champions. Fenton has won the Metro Suburban Conference Track & Field Championships, two of the last four years, and famous alumni include Olympian Jim Spivey, and Chris Siemers. 

 The Fenton Indoor Classic featured Gordon Tech, Conant, Northside College Prep, and host Fenton. Individual Events were scored 6-4-3-2-1, and Relays were scored 6-4-2.

 Northside High Jumpers have been working hard with Northside Jumps Coach Ed Wallace and Alumni Eric Nelson. 

 On Wednesday, March 7, 2012, their hard work paid off. In the Sophomore-Freshman High Jump Competition, Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with a personal best jump of 5'10. Fitzpatrick also made three outstanding attempts at 6'0. Fitzpatrick improved from 5'6 to 5'10 in less than two weeks! Fitzpatrick is only a Sophomore, and it was also the second best jump in the entire Chicago Public League this season! Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter finished in second place overall with a personal best jump of 5'4. In less than 2 weeks, Ari Perlmutter improved from 4'6 to 5'4!! Northside Sophomore Louie Koll finished in third place with a jump of 5'4. Louie Koll improved from 5'0 to 5'4. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey finished in fourth place overall with a personal best jump of 5'0. Porter Abbey improved from 4'10 to 5'0. Conant's Chris Shintaku completed the scoring by finishing in fifth place with a jump of 5'0. Northside scored 15 out of a possible 16 points in the Sophomore-Freshman High Jump!!

 In the Sophomore-Freshman Long Jump, Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with a jump of 17'4. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne finished in fourth place with a personal best jump of 16'1.5.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman Triple Jump, Northside Freshman Porter Abbey finished in third place with a jump of 28'9.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman Shot Put, Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter finished in second place with a personal best throw of 32'2. Northside Sophomore Louie Koll finished in fourth place with a personal best throw of 28'10. Northside Sophomore Henry Lothschutz finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 28'7. Northside Sophomore Alexander Pilski threw an outstanding 26'9. Northside Sophomore Walter Johnson-Geis came into the meet with a personal record of 19'10. Walter Johnson-Geis improved by over 7'0 with a personal best throw of 26'7!

 The Track at Fenton is a 135 yards. 26 laps for two miles.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 4x800m Relay, Northside Freshman Adrian Black dropped 8 seconds (2:40) with a personal best time of 2:32.00 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Jack O'Donnell ran a 2:42.88 800m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Connor Fulton. Connor Fulton ran a 2:45.12 800m split on the third leg of relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Max McCoy. Max McCoy anchored the Mustangs to THIRD place with a 2:41.76 800m split, for an official time of 10:41.86.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 4x135 Yards Relay, Northside Sophomore Jay Yu ran a 17.14 135 Yards split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Patrick Andrade ran a 18.50 135 Yards split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino ran a 18.18 135 Yards split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Elijah Hernandez ran a 20.72 135 Yards split to anchor the Mustangs to SECOND place with an official time of 1:14.54.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 3200m run, Conant's Rob Smolik won it with a 11:37.6. Fenton's Lional Rodrigquez finished in second place with a 11:47.7. Conant's Bhationi Chavelhari finished in third place with a 12:52.7. Northside Sophomore Cristian Hernandez finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 13:18.0. Northside Sophomore Andrew Donchak finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an outstanding time of 14:32.0. Northside Freshman Declan Galleher dropped 36 seconds (15:38) for a personal best time of 15:02.6.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 50 Yards High Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with a personal best time of 7.50. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne finished in second place with a personal best time of 9.08. Northside Sophomore Patrick Andrade finished in third place with a personal best time of 11.00.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 50 Yards Dash, Northside Freshman Tom Frejowski finished in second place with a personal best time of 6.00. Northside Sophomore Jay Yu ran an outstanding time of 6.52. Northside Freshman Harry Winters ran an outstanding time of 6.80.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 800m run, Conant's Janczy won it with a time of 2:20.2. Conant's Sulton finished in second place with a time of 2:20.7. Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino finished in third place with an official time of 2:25.60. Northside Sophomore Robert Szmurlo finished in fourth place with an official time of 2:30.20. Fenton Joseph Rivas finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:35.00.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 4x270 Yards Relay, Northside WON it with an official time of 2:27.39. Northside Sophomore Jay Yu exploded out of the blocks with an impressive 37.41 270 Yards split on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Freshman Porter Abbey. Porter Abbey ran a 37.61 270 Yards split, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Matt Osborne. Matt Osborne ran a 36.03 270 Yards split, and made a perfect exchange to Freshman Ari Perlmutter. Ari Perlmutter anchored the Mustangs to VICTORY with a 36.28 270 Yards split, for an official time of 2:27.39.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 400m Dash, Northside Sophomore Tom Frejowski finished in second place with an official time of 59.30. Northside Freshman Elijah Hernandez ran an official time of 66.09. Northside Freshman Connor Fulton ran an official time of 67.90.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 50 Yards Low Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Patrick Andrade finished in third place with a 10.1.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman Mile, Northside Freshman Adrian Black finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an outstanding time of 5:28.0. Northside Freshman Max McCoy ran a personal best time of 5:40.0. Northside Freshman Jack O'Donnell ran an outstanding time of 5:47.0.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 200m Dash, Tom Frejowski won his heat, and placed second overall with an outstanding time of 27.80. Northside Sophomore Cristian Hernandez ran an outstanding time of 30.08. Northside Freshman Harry Winters ran an official time of 30.10. Northside Freshman Connor Fulton ran an outstanding time of 30.40.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman 4x405 Yards Relay, Northside WON it with an official time of 3:53.89. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey ran a 58.26 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino ran a 59.44 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Robert Szmurlo ran a 58.91 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter anchored the Mustangs to first place with an impressive 57.28 split for an official time of 3:53.89.

 Conant won the meet. The Northside Sophomore-Freshman Boys finished in SECOND place with 88 points, and posted victories over: 3. Fenton (29.5 points), and 4. Gordon Tech (8 points).

Northside Junior Olabode Faleti had an official throw of 20'0.

 In the High Jump, Northside Senior Josh Williams finished in SECOND place overall with a leap of 5'4.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Senior Josh Williams WON it with a jump of 18'11.25.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Captain Josh Williams WON it with a jump of 37'8.

 Northside rested their Varsity 4x800m Relay and Varsity 4x135 Yards Relay. 

 In the 3200m run, Northside Junior Brendan Kelly WON it with an official time of 12:24.

 Northside rested their Varsity 50 Yards High Hurdles this meet.

 In the 50 Yards Dash, Northside Junior Olabode Faleti ran an official time of 7.20.

 In the 800m run, Northside Senior Joseph Smith WON it with a personal best time of 2:21. Northside Junior Raymond Siddiqi ran an official time of 2:32.70.

 Northside rested their Varsity 4x270 Yards Relay this meet.

 In the 400m, Northside Junior Ify Nduwku ran an official time of 69.84.

 Northside rested their Varsity 50 Yards low hurdlers this meet.

 In the Mile, Northside Junior Nick Hill finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 5:49.

 In the 200m dash, Northside Junior Olabode Faleti ran an official time of 33.63.

 Northside needed to finish second or higher, in the 4x405 Yards Relay to finish third as a Team in the Fenton Bison Indoor Classic. The Varsity 4x405 Yards Relay came through for the TEAM, by finishing SECOND overall with an official time of 3:59.82.

 In the 4x405 Yards Relay, Northside Senior Joseph Smith ran a 56.64 on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Junior Raymond Siddiqi. Raymond Siddiqi ran a 64.68 on the second leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Brendan Kelly. Brendan Kelly ran a 63.38 on the third leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Senior Josh Williams. Northside still needed to catch Conant and Gordon Tech to finish second in the Relay. Captain Josh Williams left the exchange zone on a mission, and with incredible speed, quickly lapped runners on the 135 Yards track, to anchor the Mustangs to SECOND place with an impressive 55.12 split for an official time of 3:59.82.

 Conant won the meet with 74 points. Fenton finished in second place with 69 points. Northside finished in third place with 33 points. Gordon Tech finished in fourth place with 30 points. The Northside Varsity Men now have a season record of 28-10.

 On Friday, March 2, 2012, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Henry Crown Field house at the University of Chicago for the University High Indoor Classic. Individual points and relays were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

 Henry Crown Field house featured an athlete friendly atmosphere, upper deck seating, and the best 200m Indoor Track in Chicago. Henry Crown Field house has been the host to numerous National meets, and local Championship meets as well. The Varsity letter was invented in the1890s by Amos Alonzo Stagg as he was sitting on the entrance steps to Henry Crown Field house. The main wall of the stadium contains a list of field house records, which include several Olympians. The first Heisman Trophy winner (1935), Jay Berwanger is still listed on the all time list for Henry Crown Field house for the 55m dash. Henry Crown Field house is a Chicago landmark that is rich in Track & Field history.

 The University High Indoor Classic at Henry Crown Field house, featured North Shore Country Day, St. Ignatius, Northside College Prep, Lombard Montini, Chicago Latin, and host University High. A special thanks to University High Head Coach Bud James and staff for hosting an outstanding meet.

 A year ago, Northside scored only 84 points (March 4, 2011) at the Univeristy High Indoor Classic. On Friday, March 2, 2012, the Northside Varsity Men scored 126.50 points!

 In the Long Jump, Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick jumped a personal best 18'4.25 to place third overall. Montini Jeremy Pope completed the scoring by placing eighth overall with a jump of 16'03.50. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne jumped an outstanding 15'4.75. Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter jumped a personal best 11'7.50. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey jumped 10'06.50. Northside Senior Josh Williams scratched on all three attempts.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Senior Josh Williams WON it with an outstanding jump of 39'06.00. Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick jumped a personal best 34'07.00 to place fourth overall. Northside Sophomore Karl Heinz completed the scoring by placing eighth overall with a personal best jump of 32'10.50.  Northside Sophomore Louis Koll jumped an outstanding 32'06.50. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey jumped a personal best 31'04.25.

 In 2011, Northside won the Indoor City Title in the 4x800m relay with an 8:47.46. In 2012, Northside went into the meet leading their IHSA Sectional with a 9:07.0. Northside smashed both marks on Friday with a very impressive 8:38.0!

 In the Varsity "A" 4x800m Relay, Northside Senior Dan Graham ran the first leg of the relay with an 800m split of 2:07, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Ezra Edgerton. Ezra Edgerton ran the second leg of the relay with a 2:07 800m split, and made a nice exchange to Junior Patrick Brennan. Patrick Brennan ran the third leg of the relay with a 2:10 800m split, and made a nice exchange to Senior Pat Duffy. Captain Pat Duffy anchored the Mustangs to SECOND place overall with a 2:14 800m split for an official time of 8:38.0!

 Northside is now within 10 seconds of the school record and the automatic qualifying time (8:28.0) for the 4x800m Relay for the Class 2A Illinois Prep Top Times!! The Mustangs will attempt to break both marks at the Chicago Public League Championships on Sunday, March 18, 2012. 

 In the Varsity "B" 4x800m Relay, Northside Sophomore Robert Szmurlo ran the first leg of the relay with an 800m split of 2:18, and made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Joel Deleon. Joel Deleon ran the second leg of the relay with a 2:23 800m split, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith ran the third leg of the relay with a 2:22 800m split, and made a nice exchange to Junior Raymond Siddiqi. Raymond Siddiqi anchored the Mustangs to FOURTH place overall with a 2:25 800m split for an official time of 9:28.0.

 In the Varsity "A" 4x200m Relay, Northside Freshman Tom Frejowski ran a 200m split of 25.11 on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Freshman Porter Abbey. Porter Abbey ran a 200m split of 27.34 on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Matt Osborne. Matt Osborne ran a 200m split of 27.41 on the third leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Ari Perlmutter. Ari Perlmutter anchored the Mustangs to THIRD place overall with a 27.15 200m split for an official time of 1:47.40.

 In the Varsity "B" 4x200m Relay, Northside Sophomore Walter Johnson-Geis ran a 200m split of 27.48 on the first leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Sophomore Jay Yu. Jay Yu ran a 26.34 200m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Louie Koll. Louie Koll ran a 27.63 200m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Karl Heinz. Karl Heinz anchored the Mustangs to first place in their heat, and fifth overall with a 27.31 200m split for an official time of 1:49.20.

 In the 3200m run, Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino WON it with an outstanding time of 11:09.00. Cesar Rufino dropped 22 seconds from the Lonnell Poole Invitational (11:31.23). Rufino ran the first mile in 5:26, and then ran the final mile in 5:43 for an outstanding time of 11:09. Northside Sophomore Nate Mendez, in his first Varsity race, placed third overall, with a personal best time of 11:17.00. Nate Mendez ran the first mile 5:26, and then ran the final mile in 5:51 for a personal best time of 11:17. Northside Junior Brendan Kelly finished in seventh place overall with an outstanding time of 12:21.00. Brendan Kelly ran the first mile in 5:45, and then ran the final mile in 6:36 for an outstanding time of 12:21. Northside Junior Nick Hill completed the scoring by placing eighth overall with an official time of 12:27. Nick Hill ran the first mile in 6:00, and then ran the final mile in 6:27 for an outstanding time of 12:27. Northside Freshman Declan Galleher ran a personal best time of 15:38. Declan Galleher ran the first mile in 7:49, and then ran the final mile in an EVEN split of 7:49 for a personal best time of 15:38.

 In the 55m High Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Lucien Fitzpatrick placed third overall with an outstanding time of 8.70. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne finished in tenth place overall with a personal best time of 10.40. Northside Sophomore Walter Johnson-Geis finished in 12th place overall with an outstanding time of 11.20. Northside Sophomore Joel Deleon finished in 13th place overall with a personal best time of 11.50. Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter finished in 15th place overall with an outstanding time of 12.20. Northside Sophomore Patrick Andrade finished in 16th place overall with a personal best time of 12.80.

  Jay Berwanger (1935), the first Heisman trophy winner, is still listed on the All Time list at Henry Crown Field House for the 55m dash. It takes a 6.61 to pass him on the list. Berwanger was in the 1936 Olympic Trials with among others, Jesse Owens. Berwanger was also the number one draft pick in the NFL in 1935, and turned down an offer from the Chicago Bears to play professional football to pursue the Olympic decathlon. Northside had two athletes pass him in the 55m dash on Friday.

 In the 55m Dash, Northside Senior Mac Melto WON it with a personal best time of 6.30. Northside Junior Nathaniel Agharese won his heat, and finished second overall with a personal best time of 6.60. Northside Freshman Tom Frejowski placed third in his heat, and sixth overall with a personal best time of 7.10. Northside Sophomore Jay Yu ran a personal best time of 7.50. Northside Sophomore Karl Heinz ran a personal best time of 7.70. Northside Junior Imran Heluk Senlik did not show up to the meet.

 In the 800m run, Northside Freshman Max McCoy tied for seventh place with a personal best time of 2:29.00. Northside Freshman Connor Fulton ran an outstanding time of 2:33.00. Northside Sophomore Louis Koll ran a personal best time of 2:36.00. Northside Sophomore Henry Lothschutz ran a personal best time of 2:40.00. Northside Freshman Calvin Kuhnen ran a personal best time of 2:42.00. Northside Sophomore Andrew Donchak dropped 13 seconds for a personal best time of 2:45.00.

 In the 400m Dash, Northside Senior Mac Melto WON it with an outstanding time of 50.60. It was the fastest time in the Chicago Public League, and the third fastest indoor time in the entire State of Illinois this year! Northside Senior Ezra Edgerton finished in third place overall with a personal best time of 55.20. Northside Freshman Tom Frejowski dropped two seconds and finished in fourth place overall with a personal best time of 55.50.

 In the 1600m run, Northside Junior Patrick Brennan finished in second place with an outstanding time of 4:52.0. Brennan ran the first 800m in 2:25, and then ran the final 800m in 2:27 for an oustanding time of 4:52. Northside Junior Raymond Siddiqi finished in seventh place overall with a personal best time of 5:18.60. Raymond Siddiqi dropped 16 seconds off his best time (5:34)! Northside Freshman Adrian Black finished in ninth place and dropped 19 seconds (5:40) for a personal best time of 5:21.0. Adrian Black ran the first 800m in 2:41, and then ran the final 800m in a NEGATIVE split of 2:40 for a personal best time of 5:21.0. Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino ran an outstanding time of 5:22.00. Cesar Rufino ran the first 800m 2:30, and then ran the final 800m in 2:52 for an outstanding time of 5:22.0. Northside Senior Joseph Smith won the second heat with a personal best time of 5:25.00. Northside Sophomore Robert Szmurlo dropped 6 seconds (5:34) for a personal best time of 5:28.00. Robert Szmurlo ran the first 800m in 2:32 and then ran the final 800m in 2:56 for a personal best time of 5:28.00. Northside Freshman Jack O'Donnell dropped 5 seconds for a personal best time of 5:46.00. Northside Sophomore Cristian Hernandez ran a personal best time of 5:55.00.

 In the 200m Dash, Northside Sophomore Jay Yu placed seventh overall with an outstanding time of 27.40. Northside Freshman Connor Fulton ran an outstanding time of 28.60. Northside Freshman Harry Winters ran a personal best time of 29.60.

 In the Varsity 4x400m "A" Relay, Northside Senior Ezra Edgerton opened up a lead with a 55.0 400m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Josh Williams. Josh Williams increased the lead with a 57.30 400m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Louie Koll. Louie Koll ran a 60.90 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Mac Melto. Mac Melto cruised to FIRST place with a 56.20 400m split for an official time of 3:49.00. St. Ignatius finished in second place with an official time of 3:57.00. Lombard Montini finished in third place with an official time of 4:09.00 The Northside Varsity 4x400m "B" Relay, finished in fourth place with an official time of 4:11.00. Northside Freshman Porter Abbey ran a 61.61 400m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Matt Osborne ran a 63.09 400m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Max McCoy ran a 64.46 400m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Ari Perlmutter anchored the Mustangs to fourth place with a 61.94 400m split for an official time of 4:11.00. University High finished in fifth place with an official time of 4:14.00. St. Ignatius "B" Relay finished in sixth place with an official time of 4:30.00.

 The Northside Track & Field Team arrived back at Northside at 11:30 pm. Northside jumpers Louie Koll, Porter Abbey, Ari Perlmutter, Joel Deleon, Cristian Hernandez, Veronica Schwartz, Katie O'Rourke, and Eleanor Glockner were up a dawn on Saturday morning, training in the Gymnasium for High Jump for 2.5 hours with Northside Alumni legend Eric Nelson. It was an incredible experience for the Northside jumpers, and the athletes have perfected their high jump approach with exact measurements for the Bison Indoor Classic on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. 

 St. Ignatius won the meet with 164 points. Northside College Prep finished in SECOND place with 126.50 points, and posted victories over: 3. Lombard Montini (79 points), 4. University High (63.50 points), and 5. North Shore Country Day (5 points). The Northside Varsity Men had a record of 3-1 on the day, and now have a season record of 27-8. The Northside Varsity Track & Field Team is also undefeated in Class 2A.
