 On Friday, April 26, 2013, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois for the 51st Annual Spartan Relays.

 The meet featured Deerfield, Maine South, New Trier, Glenbrook South, Northside College Prep, Highland Park, Stevenson, Lake Zurich, Loyola Academy, Lake Forest, and host Glenbrook North.

 The meet featured the High Jump Relay, Long Jump Relay, Pole Vault Relay, Triple Jump Relay, Shot Put Relay, Discus Relay, High Hurdle Shuttle Relay, 4x800m Relay, 4x100m Relay, Distance Medley Relay, Middle Distance Medley Relay (200m-200m-400m-800m), Sprint Medley Relay, 4x1 Mile Relay, 4x200m Relay, Low Hurdle Shuttle Relay, Throwers 4x100m Relay, and the 4x400m Relay.

 It is the best relay meet in Illinois, and the hospitality and sportsmanship was second to none.

 Glenbrook North Head Coach Scott Laskey provided meals for the entire coaching staffs of all eleven visiting Teams. Opposing athletes were giving each other high fives after every jump at the high jump pit or throw at the Discus cage. The stands were filled to stadium capacity.   

  The Spartan Relays has a fifty years history of future Olympians, State Champions, and All State Athletes coming together to compete in the Ultimate Relay meet. All events are Relays, including Field Events and Hurdles. 

 Olympians that have competed in Spartan Relays include Ohio State's Robert Gary. Spartan Relay Alumni include NCAA Champion Dave Valentine. Recent State Champions that have competed in Spartan Relays include 1600m Champion, Tom Robbins (Loyola Academy). The list of current and past All State Athletes that have competed in Spartan Relays is endless.

 A Medal or a Ribbon from Spartan Relays is priceless. The Top 3 Teams in each event are awarded a Medal, and places fourth through six are awarded a Ribbon.

 In the Pole Vault Relay, four athletes vault from each Team, and their combined totals determines the winner. Deerfield won it with 47'06. Maine South finished in second with 45'00. Highland Park finished in third place with 41'06. New Trier finished in fourth place with 41'00. Loyola Academy finished in fifth place with 39'06. Lake Forest finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with 37'00. Northside College Prep finished in seventh place out of 12 Teams, and established a SCHOOL RECORD of 23'0. Northside Freshman Xavier Sigelko vaulted a personal best 8'0. Northside Junior Jay Yu vaulted a personal best 8'0. Northside Senior Spencer Parts vaulted a personal best 7'0. Northside Sophomore Declan Galleher made three outstanding attempts at 7'0.

 In the Discus Relay, Northside Junior Henry Lothschutz, Sophomore Declan Galleher, Freshman Brendan Powers, and Sophomore Harry Winters combined for a total of 243'10. The highlight was a personal best throw by Northside Junior Henry Lothschutz for 103'07.

 In the Shot Put Relay, Northside Junior Henry Lothschutz, Sophomore Declan Galleher, Freshman Brendan Powers, and Sophomore Harry Winters combined for a total of 96'01.50.

 In the High Jump Relay, Long Jump Relay, and Triple Jump Relay, Northside scratched their entries to conserve energy for the running events.

 In the High Hurdle Shuttle Relay (4x110m), Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick hurdled the first leg of the relay with a 110m split of 15.68. Northside Freshman Xavier Sigelko hurdled the second leg of the relay with a 110m split of 25.16. Northside Freshman Justin Washington hurdled the third leg of the relay with a 110m split of 21.53. Northside Junior Walter Johnson-Geis anchored the Mustangs with a 20.50 110m split for a time of 1:22.87. Unfortunately, Walter Johnson-Geis did a double jump on the final hurdle, and the relay was properly disqualified by IHSA Official Bill Drennan. Deerfield was also disqualified from the High Hurdle Shuttle Relay.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Junior Cesar Rufino ran the first 400m in 62 seconds, and then ran the final 400m on the first leg of the relay in 68 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:10.61. Cesar Rufino passed a runner on the inside, and Northside was properly disqualified in the 4x800m relay after the first leg of the relay. However, the IHSA officials were nice enough to allow the Mustangs to continue the relay, so the athletes would get the opportunity to run. On the second leg of the relay, Northside Senior Raymond Siddiqi ran a personal best 800m split of 2:17.50, and made a nice exchange to Junior Alex Gordon. Alex Gordon ran a personal best 800m split of 2:24.09, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Nate Mendez. Nate Mendez anchored the Mustangs with a personal best 800m split of 2:22.83 for a time of 9:15.03.

 In the 4x100m Relay, Northside had no entries.

 In the Distance Medley Relay (1200m-400m-800m-1600m), Northside Senior Calvin Gang ran the first leg of the relay with a 4:07.74 1200m split, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Harry Winters. Harry Winters ran a personal best 64.56 400m split, and made a good exchange to Junior Robert Szmurlo. Robert Szmurlo ran an outstanding 800m split of 2:22.72, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Senior Alex Bologna. Alex Bologna anchored the Mustangs to tenth place with a 5:55.08 1600m split for an official time of 13:30.10.

 In the Middle Distance Medley Relay (200m - 200m - 400m - 800m), prior to Friday, the Northside School Record (2012, Spartan Relays) was 4:00.50, and was held by Nathaniel Agharese (23.11), Raymond Siddiqi (28.44), Josh Williams (56.31), and Dan Graham (2:12.64). The competition was intense at Spartan Relays, and the field for the Middle Distance Medley Relay featured Loyola, Waukegan, Stevenson, Deerfield, Glenbrook South, New Trier, Northside, Lake Forest, Highland Park, Maine South, Lake Zurich, and host Glenbrook North. Northside's top sprinter Nathaniel Agharese was in California on Friday, visiting Stanford, after receiving a full scholarship to Stanford. In place of Nathaniel Agharese, Lucien Fitzpatrick ran the first leg of the relay, and Fitzpatrick was amazing. In addition to being a great Hurdler and Jumper, Lucien Fitzpatrick is also a great sprinter. On the first leg of the relay, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick ran a personal best 23.74 200m split, and made a perfect exchange to Walter Johnson-Geis. Captain Lucien Fitzpatrick was incredible, and instanly put the Mustangs on school record pace. Northside Junior Walter Johnson-Geis ran an outstanding 27.13 200m split, and the Mustangs were at 50.87 for the first 400m of the relay. Northside needed to be under 51.55 for school record pace, and Lucien Fitzpatrick and Walter Johnson-Geis put the Mustangs under school record pace with a 50.87 for the first 400m of the relay!!! Despite being on school record pace, the mustangs found themselves in last place. Northside Junior Simon Kafka then closed the gap with a 55.50 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Senior Patrick Brennan. Captain Patrick Brennan then ran the first 400m in 56.63 seconds, passing runner after runner, to move the Mustangs instantly from last place, to within striking distance of the front pack! Patrick Brennan ran with great determination, and ran the final 400m in 66.60 to anchor the Mustangs to fifth place overall with a 2:03.23 800m split for an official time of 3:50.00. Lucien Fitzpatrick, Walter Johnson-Geis, Simon Kafka, and Patrick Brennan BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD (4:00.50) by 10.50 seconds with an official time of 3:50.00!!! Lucien Fitzpatrick, Walter Johnson-Geis, Simon Kafka, and Patrick Brennan were awarded engraved RIBBONS for placing 5th overall in the Spartan Relays. New Trier finished in sixth place with an official time of 3:51.30. Glenbrook South finished in seventh place with an official time of 3:53.20. Glenbrook North finished in eighth place with an official time of 3:54.80. Deerfield finished in ninth place with an official time of 3:55.40. Stevenson finished in tenth place with an official time of 3:56.80. Waukegan finished in eleventh place with an official time of 3:59.80. Loyola Academy finished in twelfth place with an official time of 4:20.70. Lucien Fitzpatrick, Walter Johnson-Geis, Simon Kafka, and Patrick Brennan will be honored in practice on Monday, and will receive WATERMELONS for breaking the SCHOOL RECORD in the Middle Distance Medley Relay. Lucien Fitzpatrick, Walter Johnson-Geis, Simon Kafka, and Patrick Brennan will also receive a plaque for breaking the school record at the Northside Track & Field Banquet at the East Bank Club on May 31, 2013.

 In the Sprint Medley Relay, Northside had no entries.

 In the 6400m Relay (4x1 Mile), Northside Junior Cesar Rufino ran a personal best 4:55.59 1600m split, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Raymond Siddiqi. Raymond Siddiqi ran an outstanding 5:07.81 1600m split, and made a nice exchange to Junior Alex Gordon. Alex Gordon ran a personal best 5:26.28 1600m split, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Nate Mendez. Nate Mendez anchored the Mustangs with a 5:20.29 1600m split for an official time of 20:50.30.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside had no entries.

 In the Low Hurdle Shuttle Relay (4x110)prior to Friday, the Northside School Record (2010, Spartan Relays) was 1:07.30, and was held by Hersh Perlmutter, Neel Patel, Luis Mesa, and Andrew Czyszczon. Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick hurdled a 14.74 110m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Xavier Sigelko hurdled a 17.38 110m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Justin Washington hurdled a 16.97 110m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Junior Walter Johnson-Geis anchored the Mustangs past Lake Forest (1:06.30) with a 16.91 110m split for an official time of 1:06.00Lucien Fitzpatrick, Xavier Sigelko, Justin Washington, and Walter Johnson-Geis BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD (1:07.30) by 1.30 seconds with an official time of 1:06.00!!! Lucien Fitzpatrick, Xavier Sigelko, Justin Washington, and Walter Johnson-Geis will be honored in practice on Monday, and will receive WATERMELONS for breaking the SCHOOL RECORD in the Low Hurdle Shuttle Relay. Lucien Fitzpatrick, Xavier Sigelko, Justin Washington, and  Walter Johnson-Geis will also receive a plaque for breaking the school record at the Northside Track & Field Banquet at the East Bank Club on May 31, 2013.

 In the Throwers 4x100m Relay, Northside Junior Henry Lothschutz ran a 13.67 100m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Declan Galleher. Declan Galleher ran an impressive 12.41 100m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Sophomore Harry Winters. Harry Winters ran a 13.53 100m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Freshman Brendan Powers. Brendan Powers ran a personal best 14.39 100m split to anchor the Mustangs past Loyola Academy (58.90) for an official time of 54.00.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside Senior Patrick Brennan ran a personal best 400m split of 53.95 on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Simon Kafka. Simon Kafka ran a personal best 400m split of 55.25 on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Junior Cesar Rufino. Cesar Rufino ran a 60.29 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Calvin Gang. Calvin Gang anchored the Mustangs past Loyola Academy (3:59.90) with a 60.31 400m split for an official time of 3:49.80.

 The Northside Varsity Men will be traveling to Hanson Stadium in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 for the Chicago Public League Championship Prelims.

 On Tuesday, April 24, 2013, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois to take on the Caxys in a dual meet.

 Lake Forest Academy features a multi-million dollar track, hockey rink, and extensive athletic facilities. The campus is surrounded by woods, complete with running trails. All Lake Forest Academy students are required to compete in Track and one other sport as a graduation requirement. 

  Across from the Track & Field Stadium, the Chicago Bears Indoor Practice facility could be seen behind the stadium score board. The meet featured F.A.T. timing, and Team scores were announced after every event. The meet did not have the 4x800m Relay or 4x200m Relay. Lake Forest Academy was excellent hosts.

 After some heroics by Northside Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman with a second place finish in the 200m dash, to tie the score of the meet, 61 to 61, only one event remained, the 4x400m relay.

 Individual Events were scored on the following points scale: 5-3-1. Relays were scored: 5-0.

 In the Discus, Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba finished in second place with an outstanding throw of 90'00. Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter threw an outstanding 71'03.

 In the Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter WON it with an outstanding throw of 38'08.25.

 In the High Jump, Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter finished in third place with an outstanding jump of 5'6. Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in fourth place with a jump of 5'4. Northside Freshman Brendan Powers made three outstanding attempts at the opening height of 4'10.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in third place with an outstanding jump of 16'04.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with an outstanding jump of 39'02. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne finished in second place with a jump of 36'03. Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in third place to complete the scoring with a jump of 35'09. Northside Junior Jay Yu finished in sixth place with an outstanding jump of 32'09.

 In the 4x100m Relay, Lake Forest Academy won it with an official time of 46.55. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda ran a 11.82 100m split on the first leg of the relay, and a had a nice exchange with Freshman Steven Kataba. Steven Kataba ran a 12.77 100m split on the second leg of the relay, and had good exchange with Sophomore Calvin Kuhnen. Calvin Kuhnen dropped the batton, and recovered, and ran a 17.88 100 split, and made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman. Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman ran a 12.12 100m split to anchor the Mustangs to second place with an official time of 54.89.

 In the 3200m run, Northside Senior Raymond Siddiqi ran a 5:22 on the first mile, and then ran a 5:38 on the second mile to WIN it with an official time of 11:00.41. Northside Junior Nate Mendez ran the first mile in 5:34, and then ran the final mile in 5:53 to finish in second place with an official time of 11:27.18. Northside Junior Alex Gordon ran the first mile in 5:33, and then ran the final mile in 5:54 to complete the scoring by finishing in third place with an official time of 11:27.30. Northside Freshman Gabe Stacey ran the first mile in 6:00, and then ran a NEGATIVE split on the final mile with a 5:48 for a personal best time of 11:49.23. Gabe Stacey dropped 6 seconds (11:55.97) for a personal best time of 11:49.23. Northside Freshman Sarrin Chethik ran the first mile in 6:00, and then ran the final mile in 6:07 for a personal best time of 12:07.83. Sarrin Chethik dropped ten seconds (12:17.27) for a personal best time of 12:07.83. Northside Freshman Geir Falck-Pedersen ran the first mile in 6:02, and then ran the final mile in 6:27 for an outstanding time of 12:29.96. Geir Falck-Pedersen dropped 3 seconds (12:32.00) for an outstanding time of 12:29.96. Northside Senior Alex Bologna  ran the first mile in 6:11, and then ran the final mile in 6:38 for an official time of 12:49.61. Northside Sophomore Jack O'Donnell and Freshman Max Guthmann were both scratched from the 3200m run.

 In the 110m Hurdles, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with an outstanding time of 16.18. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne finished in third place with a personal best time of 18.22. Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of 19.03. Northside Freshman Justin Washington dropped 1.53 seconds (22.87) to finish in fifth place with a personal best time of 22.87. Northside Freshman Xavier Sigelko finished in sixth place with a personal best time of 22.90.

 In the 100m Dash, Northside Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of of 12.36. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda finished in eighth place with an outstanding time of 12.71. Northside Freshman Steve Kataba finished in eleventh place with an official time of 13.20. Northside Sophomore Calvin Kuhnen finished in twelfth place with an official time of 13.24. Northside Junior Lawrence Riley finished in fifthteenth place with an official time of 14.00. Northside Junior Kamil Koczwara and Freshman Alejandro Linan were scratched from the 100m dash.

 In the 800m run, Northside Freshman Danny Rosen outkicked Lake Forest Academy Junior Will Stewart (2:07.52) to WIN it with a personal best time of 2:07.51. Danny Rosen ran the first 400m in 63 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 64 seconds for a personal best time of 2:07.51. Lake Forest Academy Junior James Paige was disqualifed by the IHSA official for an unknown reason. Northside Senior Nathaniel Agharese finished in third place to complete the scoring with a PERSONAL BEST time of 2:10.53. Nathaniel Agharese ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran an EVEN SPLIT of 65 seconds for a personal best time of 2:10.53. Northside Sophomore Tom Frejowski finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 2:14.92. Tom Frejowski dropped 8 seconds (2:22.00) with an outstanding time of 2:14.92. Tom Frejowski ran the first 400m in 64 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 70 seconds for a personal best time of 2:14.92. Northside Senior Calvin Gang ran the first 400m in 67 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 73 seconds for an outstanding time of 2:20.64. Northside Junior Robert Szmurlo ran the first 400m in 66 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 76 seconds for an outstanding time of 2:22.76.

 In the 400m Dash, Northside Junior Nate Mendez finished in third place to complete the scoring with an official time of 63.05. Northside Junior Alex Gordon dropped 3.28 seconds (68.28) for a personal best time of 65.00. Northside Freshman Gabe Stacey ran a personal best time of 68.20. Northside Frteshman Sarrin Chethik dropped 3.84 seconds (75.39) for a personal best time of 71.55.

 In the 300m Hurdles, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with a personal best time of 44.89. Lucien Fitzpatrick dropped 0.51 (45.40) of a second with an official time of 44.89. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne finished in second place with a personal best time of 45.47. Matt Osborne dropped 0.84 (46.31) of a second with an official time of 45.47. Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of 49.55. Northside Freshman Xavier Sigelko finished in seventh place with a personal best time of 54.09. Northside Freshman Justin Washington ran an outstanding time of 59.11.

 In the 1600m run, Northside Senior Patrick Brennan ran the first 400m in 63 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 72 seconds (2:15 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 73 seconds (3:28 1200m), and then ran the final 400m in 74 seconds to WIN it with an official time of 4:42.94. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 73 seconds (2:18 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 76 seconds (3:34 1200m), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 68 seconds to finish in SECOND place with a personal best time of 4:44.68. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba dropped 5.53 seconds (4:50.21) for a personal best time of 4:44.68. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba passed Alumni legends Patrick O'Connor (4:48) and Jonathan Kittaka (4:45) on the Northside 1600m All Time list with a personal best time of 4:44.68. Northside Sophomore Adrian Black ran the first 400m in 71 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 77 seconds (2:28 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 77 seconds (3:45 1200m), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 75 seconds to finish in THIRD place with an outstanding time of 5:00.17. Northside Senior Raymond Siddiqi finished in fifth place with an official time of 5:25.39. Raymond Siddiqi ran the first 400m in 74 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 82 seconds (2:36 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 86 seconds (4:02 1200m), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 83 seconds for an official time of 5:25.39.

 In the 200m Dash, Lake Forest Academy Junior AJ Hood won it with an official time of 24.73. Northside Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman secured vital points for the Mustangs by finishing in SECOND place overall with an outstanding time of 26.04. Lake Forest Senior Fei Li finished in third place to complete the scoring with an official time of 26.14. Lake Forest Sophomore Dean Romanchek finished in fourth place with an official time of 26.93. Lake Forest Academy Senior Tom Olivieri finished in fifth place with an official time of 26.96. Lake Forest Academy Sophomore Andrew Strudwick finished in sixth place with an official time of 26.98. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda finished in seventh place with an outstanding time of 27.05. Northside Freshman Steven Kataba finished in eighth place with an outstanding time of 27.06. Northside Junior Jay Yu finished in ninth place with an outstanding time of 27.11. Northside Sophomore Calvin Kuhnen finished in tenth place with an outstanding time of 27.31. Northside Sophomore Harry Winters ran an official time of 28.61. Northside Junior Lawrence Riley ran an official time of 29.06.

 After the 200m dash, they announced over the Stadium loudspeaker that the score of the meet was 61 to 61, and only one event remained, the 4x400m relay.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne ran toe to toe with Lake Forest Academy on the first leg of the relay with a 56.16 400m split, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Freshman Danny Rosen. Danny Rosen ran a 57.93 400m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba. Malcolm Grba opened up a lead with a 55.50 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Patrick Brennan.  Northside WON the meet by a final score of Northside 66, and Lake Forest Academy 61.

 On Saturday, April 20, 2013, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Hanson Stadium in Chicago, Illinois for the Windy City Classic Relays.

 The Northside Varsity Men last appearance at the Windy City Classic Relays was in 2009. Northside Alumni legend Eric Nelson still holds the Meet Record for High Jump (6'5). The Northside Varsity Men competed in a limited number of events at the 2013 Windy City Classic Relays.

 Bowman Leadership Academy finished in first place with 105 points. Milwaukee King finished in second place with 103 points. Chicago Robeson finished in third place with 54 points. Chicago Morgan Park finished in fourth place with 48 points. Chicago Simeon finished in fifth place with 44 points. Wendell Phillips finished in sixth place with 27 points. Dunbar finished in seventh place with 18 points.

 NORTHSIDE finished in eighth place with 15 points, and posted victories over: 9. Milwaukee Bradley Technical (14 points), 10. Chicago Prosser (13 points), 11. Southland College Prep (11 points). 

 Individual events and relays were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1. 

 Medals were awarded to the Top 6 individuals or Relays in each event.

 In the Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter finished in SECOND place overall with an outstanding throw of 37'9.50. Ari Perlmutter was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in SECOND place overall. Northside Junior Henry Lothshutz finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a personal best throw of 35'0.50.

 In the Discus, Northside Junior Henry Lothshutz finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an outstanding throw of 92'07. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba finished in seventh place with an outstanding throw of 79'02.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Sophomore Harry Winters finished in 12th place with an outstanding jump of 12'02

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Northside finished in ninth place with an official time of 10:42.22. Northside Sophomore Connor Fulton ran the first 400m in 72 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 93 seconds for an 800m split of 2:45.38 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Sarrin Chethik ran the first 400m in 77 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 82 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:39.50 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Geir Falck-Pedersen ran the first 400m in 78 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 84 seconds for an 800m split of 2:42.62 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Max Guthmann anchored the Mustangs with a 2:34.77 800m split for an official time of 10:42.22. Perspectives Charter IIT Math & Science finished in tenth place with an official time of 11:03.00.

 In the Freshman 4x100m Relay, Northside Freshman Brendan Powers ran a 15.07 100m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Sarrin Chethik. Sarrin Chethik ran a 15.05 100m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Geir Falck-Pedersen. Geir Falck-Pedersen ran a 15.20 100m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Freshman Max Guthmann. Max Guthmann anchored the Mustangs to fifth place with a 15.46 100m split for an official time of 61.70. Brendan Powers, Sarrin Chethik, Geir Falck-Pedersen, and Max Guthman were awarded MEDALS for finishing in fifth place overall.

 In the Varsity Distance Medley Relay, Northside Freshman Max Guthmann ran the 1200m leg of the DMR in a personal best time of 4:21.56, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Harry Winters. Harry Winters ran a 67.34 400m split on the second leg of the DMR, and made a good exchange to Sophomore Connor Fulton. Connor Fulton ran a 2:43.55 800m split on the third leg of the DMR, and made a perfect exchange to Freshman Geir Falck-Pedersen. Geir Falck-Pedersen anchored the Mustangs to fourth place with a 6:05.37 1600m split for an official time of 14:17.14. Max Guthmann, Harry Winters, Connor Fulton, and Geir Falck-Pedersen were awarded MEDALS for finishing in fourth place overall.

 In the Varsity 1600m run, Northside Freshman Sarrin Chethik ran the first 400m in 77 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 89 seconds (2:46 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 91 seconds (4:17 1200m), and then ran the next 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 85 seconds to finish fourth in his heat, and in sixth place overall to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 5:42.49. Sarrin Chethik was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in sixth place overall. 

 The Northside Varsity Track & Field TEAM will travel to Lake Forest, Illinois on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 for the Lake Forest Academy Caxys Track & Field Classic.

 On Friday, April 19, 2013, the Northside Varsity Track & Field Team traveled to Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Illinois for the Highland Park Twilight Invitational.

 The meet featured Larkin, Mather, Grayslake North, Northside College Prep, New Trier, and host Highland Park High School.

 It was 30 degrees, and there was hail, snow flurries, and 25 mph winds at Wolters Field at Highland Park High School. Discus and Shot Put were not contested because the Throwing areas were under water.

 A special thanks to Highland Park Head Coach Kevin Gaines and staff for hosting an outstanding meet in very difficult conditions, and for providing dinner for the Northside Coaching Staff.

 Individual Events and Relays were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1.  

 Highland Park won the Varsity division with 156 points. Grayslake North finished in second place with 115 points. New Trier finished in third place with 77 points. Elgin Larkin finished in fourth place with 62 points. Northside College Prep finished in fifth place with 44 points. Chicago Mather finished in sixth place with 35 points.

 In the Pole Vault, Northside Junior Jay Yu finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a personal best vault of 7'6. Jay Yu was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in sixth place overall.

 In the High Jump, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in SECOND place with a leap of 5'6. Lucien Fitzpatrick had no misses in the competition, and stopped jumping after clearing 5'6 to conserve energy for other events. Lucien Fitzpatrick was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in second place overall.

 In the Long Jump, Northside had no entries.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in THIRD place with a personal best jump of 39'10. Lucien Fitzpatrick was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. Northside Junior Jay Yu finished in seventh place with an outstanding jump of 33'10.

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Northside Junior Robert Szmurlo ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 77 seconds for an 800m split of 2:22.62, and then made a nice exchange to Junior Nate Mendez. Nate Mendez ran the first 400m in 72 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 81 seconds for an 800m split of 2:33.77, and then made a nice exchange to Freshman Gabe Stacey. Gabe Stacey ran the first 400m in 72 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 83 seconds for an 800m split of 2:35.70, and then made a perfect exchange to Northside Senior Calvin Gang. Calvin Gang ran the first 400m in 69 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 81 seconds for an 800m split of 2:30.42 to anchor the Mustangs to sixth place with an official time of 10:03.20. Robert Szmurlo, Nate Mendez, Gabe Stacey, and Calvin Gang were awarded MEDALS for finishing in sixth place overall.

 In the Varsity 4x100m Relay, Northside Junior Jay Yu ran the first leg of the relay in a 13.39 100m split, and made a nice exchange to Junior Kamil Koczwara. Kamil Koczwara ran a 12.67 100m split, and made a nice exchange to Senior Alex Bologna. Alex Bologna ran a 12.40 100m split, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Gabe Stacey. Gabe Stacey anchored the Mustangs 4x100m Relay to sixth place with a 18.16 100m split for an official time of 57.90. Jay Yu, Kamil Koczwara, Alex Bologna, and Gabe Stacey were awarded MEDALS for finishing in sixth place overall.

 In the Varsity 3200m run, Northside Junior Cesar Rufino ran the first mile in 5:06, and then ran the final mile in 5:27 to finish in seventh place with an official time of 10:33.40. Northside Senior Raymond Siddiqi did not show up to the Team bus for departure.

 On Friday, April 19, 2013, the Northside Sophomore Boys Track & Field Team traveled to Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Illinois for the Highland Park Twilight Invitational.

 The meet featured Larkin, Mather, Grayslake North, Northside College Prep, New Trier, and host Highland Park High School.

 It was 30 degrees, and there was hail, snow flurries, and 25 mph winds at Wolters Field at Highland Park High School. Discus and Shot Put were not contested because the Throwing areas were under water. No one was expecting records to be broken in these conditions.

 The first Track event of the day, was the Sophomore 4x800m Relay. It was important for the relay to get the Mustangs off to a good start in the meet, and set the tone for the night.

 Northside Freshman Danny Rosen began the toe to toe battle with New Trier by running the first 400m of the 4x800m relay in 64 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 68 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:12.83, and then made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Max McCoy. Danny Rosen dropped 0.64 of a second off his best 800m split. 

 Max McCoy ran the first 400m of the second leg of the relay in 67 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 70 seconds for an 800m split of 2:17.80, and then made a perfect exchange to Freshman Matthew Gomez.

 Matthew Gomez ran the first 400m of the third leg of the relay in 63 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 71 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:14.94, and then made a nice exchange to Sophomore Malcolm Grba. Matthew Gomez dropped 3.66 seconds off his best 800m split.

 Malcolm Grba quickly closed the gap on New Trier's anchor by running the first 400m in 58 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 65 seconds to anchor the Mustangs to victory with a personal best 800m split of 2:03.77 for an official time of 8:49.50. Malcolm Grba dropped 2.93 seconds off his best 800m time (2:06.70)!!

 New Trier finished in second place with an official time of 8:50.90. Highland Park finished in third place with an official time of 9:14.60. Mather finished in fourth place with an official time of 9:22.90. Grayslake North finished in fifth place with a 10:48.50.

 The Meet Announcer then broadcasted over the stadium loud speaker, from the Press Box, that Northside College Prep had just BROKEN the MEET RECORD for the Sophomore 4x800m Relay with an official time of 8:49.50. It was also the fastest Sophomore 4x800m Relay time in the history of Northside!

 Freshman Danny Rosen, Sophomore Max McCoy, Freshman Matthew Gomez, and Sophomore Malcolm Grba were also awarded engraved Blue Ribbons for winning the 4x800m Relay!
