 In the 800m run, Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba finished in SECOND place with an outstanding time of 2:07.08. Malcolm Grba ran the first 400m in 61 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 66 seconds for an official time of 2:07.08. Northside Freshman Danny Rosen came from behind to finish in THIRD place with an outstanding time of 2:08.88. Danny Rosen ran the first 400m in 62 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 66 seconds for an official time of 2:08.88. Northside scored a total of 14 points in the 800m run!!! imageimageimage

 In the 400m Dash, Northside Sophomore Tom Frejowski tripped as he approached the finish line, but quickly recovered to finish in SECOND place overall and secure vital points for the Mustangs with an official time of 54.00.

 In the 300m Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne finished in third place with an outstanding time of 46.33. Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 46.65.

 In the 1600m run, Northside Sophomore Adrian Black finished in eighth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 5:03.76.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne, before completing the Triple Jump, ran the first leg of the relay in a 56.19 400m split, and then made a nice exchange to Freshman Danny Rosen. Danny Rosen ran the second leg of the relay in a 57.99 400m split, and then made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Malcolm Grba. Malcolm Grba ran the third leg of the relay in a 56.38 400m split, and then made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Tom Frejowski. Tom Frejowski anchored the Mustangs to THIRD place with a 54.09 400m split for an official time of 3:46.27.

 On Wednesday, May 1, 2013, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Hanson Stadium for the Chicago Public League Varsity Prelims.

 A special thanks on behalf of Northside and all CPS School to Thomas Smith for hosting a spectacular Track & Field Championship Series, April 30 - May 4, for the City of Chicago.

 In the Shot Put prelims, Northside Junior Henry Lothschutz finished in 21st place with a throw of 32'11.

 In the Discus prelims, Northside Junior Henry Lothschutz QUALIFED for the FINALS with an outstanding throw of 98'02.

 In the Triple Jump prelims, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick QUALIFIED for the FINALS with an outstanding jump of 38'02.

 In the High Jump prelims, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick QUALIFED for the FINALS with a leap of 5'4. Northside Junior Walter Johnson-Geis made three outstanding attempts at 5'0.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Junior Cesar Rufino ran the first 400m in 63 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 70 seconds for an 800m split of 2:13.40, and made a nice exchange to Senior Raymond Siddiqi. Raymond Siddiqi dropped 4 seconds (2:17.50) with a personal best 800m split of 2:13.99. Raymond Siddiqi ran the first 400m in 68 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 65.99 for a personal best 800m split of 2:13.99, and made a nice exchange to Junior Nate Mendez. Nate Mendez dropped 6 seconds (2:22.83) with a personal best 800m split of 2:16.42. Nate Mendez ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 71 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:16.42, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Simon Kafka. Simon Kafka anchored the Mustangs past THREE TEAMS, Mather (8:56.51), Taft (8:54.58), and Lincoln Park (8:51.69) by running the first 400m in 61 seconds, and then running the final 400m in 65 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:06.77 for an official time of 8:50.96. 4x800m Relay alternates Nathaniel Agharese, Calvin Gang, Robert Szmurlo, and Patrick Brennan also qualify for the Finals. A Time Trial will take place at Hanson Stadium for relay alternates not competing in an event at the City Championshipos, before the Finals begin on Saturday.

 In the 110m Hurdles, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished fourth overall to QUALIFY for the FINALS with an outstanding time of 16.12. Northside Junior Walter Johnson-Geis ran an official time of 21.48.

 In the 800m run, Northside Senior Patrick Brennan QUALIFIED for the Finals by running the first 400m in 62 seconds, and then running the final 400m in 63 seconds for an outstanding time of 2:05.36.

 In the 300m Hurdles, Northside Junior Lucien Fitzpatrick ran a personal best time of 43.45.

 In the 1600m run, Northside Senior Patrick Brennan QUALIFIED for the Finals by running the first 400m in 68 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 72 seconds (2:20 800m), and then ran the next 400m in an EVEN split of 72 seconds (3:32 1200m), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 66 seconds for an outstanding time of 4:38.15. Patrick Brennan ran the first 800m in 2:20, and then ran the final 800m in 2:18 for an official time of 4:38.15. Northside Junior Cesar Rufino ran the first 400m in 68 seconds, and then ran the next 400m in 75 seconds (2:23 800m), and then ran the next 400m in 79 seconds (3:42 1200m), and then ran the final 400m in a NEGATIVE split of 75 seconds for an official time of 4:57.27

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside had to scratch the relay due to relay alternates Alex Gordon and Robert Szmurlo not showing up to the meet.

 The Northside Varsity Track & Field Team will depart from Northside at 8:30 am  to Hanson Stadium on Saturday, May 4, 2013 for the CPS Varsity Finals!

 

 On Saturday, April 27, 2013, the Northside Sophomore Boys Track & Field Team traveled to Hanson Stadium in Chicago, Illinois for the Sophomore PRELIMS for the Chicago Public League Championships!

 The Northside Mustangs qualified 15 athletes for the finals, in 13 events, including the 3200m run (2), 4x800m Relay (8), 110m Hurdles (2), 800m run (2), 400m Dash (1), 300m Hurdles (2), 1600m Run (1), High Jump (2), Long Jump (1), Triple Jump (2), Shot Put (2), Discus (1), and 4x400m Relay (8).

Qualifiers for the CPS Sophomore Track & Field FINALS Include:

1. Matt Osborne - Triple Jump, 110m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and 4x400m Relay

2. Malcolm Grba - 4x800m Relay, 800m, 4x400m Relay, and Discus

3. Porter Abbey - Triple Jump, 110m Hurdles, and 300m Hurdles  

4. Ari Perlmutter - High Jump and Shot Put

5. Adrian Black - 3200m run, 4x800m Relay, and 1600m run

6. Jack O'Donnell - 3200m run and 4x400m Relay

7. Max McCoy - 4x800m Relay and 4x400m Relay 

8. Matthew Gomez - 4x800m Relay and 4x400m Relay

9. Gabe Stacey - 4x800m Relay 

10. Sarrin Chethik - 4x800m Relay

11. Max Guthmann - 4x800m Relay

 ALL members of the Northside Sophomore-Freshman Boys Track & Field Team MUST be at practice everyday, April 29 - May 2, ready to train for the upcoming City Championship Finals on Friday, May 3, 2013, and the IHSA Sectional Championships on May 16, 2013, and the IHSA State Championships on May 24-25, 2013. Thanks.

 

  The bus will leave at 3:30 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013 for Hanson Stadium for the Chicago Public League Sophomore Track & Field Championships. The Sophomore Track & Field Finals will commence on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 4:30 pm. Any athlete that leaves the CPS Sophomore Championship meet early for any reason will NOT be considered for the IHSA Sectional Roster. Thanks.

 

 The IHSA Sectional roster will not be announced until Monday, May 6, 2013. The IHSA Sectional Championships takes place on Thursday, May 16, 2013. The IHSA State Championships will take place in Charleston, Illinois on May 24-25, 2013. Thanks.

 

 Northside had a BIG DAY at the Chicago Public League Sophomore Championships!

  

 In the Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter QUALIFIED for the finals with a personal best throw of 40'0. Northside Sophomore Tom Frejowski threw an outstanding 28'01.50.  

 

 In the Discus, it took a throw of 71'08 or better to QUALIFY for the Finals. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba QUALIFIED for the finals with a throw of 89'11.

 

 In the Long Jump, Northside Sophomore Mana Hilmara QUALIFIED for the Finals with a jump of 17'4

 

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey QUALIFIED for the finals with a jump of 37'1. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne QUALIFIED for the finals with a jump of 35'02.50.

 

 In the High Jump, Northside Sophomores Ari Perlmutter and Mana Hilmara both QUALIFIED for the Finals with a jump of 5'0.

 

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside cruised to fourth place in the prelims to QUALIFY for the finals with an official time of 9:23.06. Northside Freshman Matthew Gomez ran an 800m split of 2:16.87 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Max McCoy ran an 800m split of 2:18.00 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Danny Rosen cruised to an 800m split of 2:20.06 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba cruised to an 800m split of 2:28.13 to anchor the Mustangs to fourth place with an official time of 9:23.06.

 

 In the 4x100m Relay, Northside dropped 1.79 seconds (51.10) for a season best time of 49.31. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda ran a 12.40 100m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Steven Kataba. Steven Kataba ran a 12.42 100m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Calvin Kuhnen. Calvin Kuhnen ran a 12.31 100m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a great exchange to Sophomore Gabriel Jimenez-Ekhman. Gabriel Jimenez-Ekhman ran an impressive 12.18 100m split for a season best time of 49.31. Jack Svobda, Steven Kataba, Calvin Kuhnen, and Gabriel Jimenez-Ekhman were outstanding and will compete for Northside in the IHSA Sectional Championships.

 

 In the 110m Hurdles Prelims, Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne QUALIFED for the finals by winning the prelims with an outstanding time of 18.66. Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey QUALIFIED for the finals by finishing in second place with a personal best time of 18.82.

 

 In the 100m Dash Prelims, Northside Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman ran an outstanding time of 12.62. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda ran an outstanding time of 13.03.

 

 In the 800m run, Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba QUALIFIED for the finals with an outstanding time of 2:07.44. Northside Freshman Danny Rosen QUALIFIED for the finals with an outstanding time of 2:11.64.

 

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside dropped 1.09 seconds (1:46.60) for a season best time of 1:45.51. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda ran the first leg of the relay in 25.32 seconds. Northside Freshman Steven Kataba ran the second leg of the relay in 28.27 seconds. Northside Sophomore Calvin Kuhnen ran the third leg of the relay in 25.30 seconds. Northside Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman anchored the Mustangs with a 200m split of 26.62 for an official time of 1:45.51.

 

 In the 400m Dash, Northside Tom Frejowski WON the prelims to QUALIFY for the Finals with a personal best time of 52.92. Northside Sophomore Max McCoy ran an outstanding time of 59.19.

 

 In the 300m Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne QUALIFIED for finals with an outstanding time of 46.60. Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey QUALIFIED for finals with an outstanding time of 47.05.

 

 In the 1600m run, a year ago (2012), Adrian Black, as a Freshman, didn't qualify for the finals and finished in 16th place with an official time of 5:15.33. In 2013, Northside Sophomore Adrian Black dropped 21 seconds (5:15.33, 2012 Sophomore Prelims) to finish in THIRD place overall in the 2013 prelims with a PERSONAL BEST time of 4:54.58. Adrian Black ran the first 800m in 2:28, and then ran the final 800m in a NEGATIVE split of 2:26 for a personal best time of 4:54.58. Northside Freshman Gabe Stacey dropped 3 seconds (5:23.88) for a personal best time of 5:20.08. Gabe Stacey ran the first 800m in 2:38, and then ran the final 800m in 2:42 for a personal best time of 5:20.08.   

 

 In the 200m Dash, Northside Sophomore Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman ran an outstanding time of 26.18. Northside Freshman Jack Svoboda ran an outstanding time of 26.66.

 

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside WON their heat and finished in 3rd place overall with an outstanding time of 3:48.15. Northside Sophomore Danny Rosen ran a 57.20 400m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Sophomore Max McCoy. Max McCoy ran a 61.08 400m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Malcolm Grba. Malcolm Grba ran a 57.04 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Sophomore Tom Frejowski. Tom Frejowski ran a personal best 52.83 400m split to anchor the Mustangs past Walter Payton to WIN the heat, and finish in third place overall with an outstanding time of 3:48.15.
