 On Friday, February 7, 2014, the Northside Sophomore Track & Field Team traveled to Niles West High School in Skokie, Illinois for the Wolves Den Indoor Classic.

 The meet featured 11 Teams, including Niles North, Northtown Academy, Gordon Tech, Northside College Prep, North Lawndale, Von Steuben, Marshall, Taft, DuSable, Perspective Charter, and host Niles West.

 In the Sophomore Long Jump, Northside Freshman Brandon Banas finished in sixth place with a jump of 13'2.5.

 In the Sophomore Triple Jump, Northside entered Sophomore Piotr Wojcik, and he did not show up to the meet.

 In the Sophomore High Jump, Northside Sophomore Garret Barch made three outstanding attempts at the opening height of 4'6., and did not clear it.

 In the Sophomore Shot Put, Northside did not have any entries. 

 In the Sophomore Pole Vault, Northside Sophomore Brendan Powers cleared the opening height of 6'0. Northside Sophomore Xavier Sigelko passed on the opening height of 6'0. The bar was then raised to 6'6. Northside Sophomore Brendan Powers cleared it, and vaulted a personal best of 6'6. Northside Sophomore Xavier Sigelko passed on 6'6. The bar was then raised to 7'0. Northside Sophomore Xavier Sigelko came into the competition at 7'0. Brendan Powers and Xavier Sigelko both had three outstanding attempts at 7'0, and did not clear it.

 In the Sophomore 1000m run, Northside Sophomore Max Guthmann ran a strong race, and passed a Niles West runner in the final meters of the race to score for the Mustangs by placing sixth overall with a personal best time of 3:19.10. Northside Sophomore Alejandro Serrano did not show up to the meet, and was scratched from the 1000m run.

 In the Sophomore 55m High Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Piotr Wojcik did not show up to the meet, and had to be scratched from the event. Northside Sophomore Justin Washington was also scratched from the event before the meet due to illness. Northside was awarded no points in the 55m High Hurdles.

 In the Freshman Triple Jump, Northside Freshman Jack Nolan WON it with a personal best jump of 26'8.

 In the Freshman High Jump, Northside had no entries.

 In the Freshman Pole Vault, Northside had no entries.

 In the Freshman Shot Put, Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby WON it with a personal best throw of 35'6. Jacob Cosby improved 5'7 since the Mustangs King of the Shot Put Competition (29'11).

 In the Freshman 1000m run, Northside Freshman Sergio Soto ran a personal best time of 3:33.35.

 In the Freshman 55m High Hurdles, Northside Freshman Jack Nolan finished in fifth place with a personal best time of 12.80.

 In the Freshman 50m Dash, Northside Freshman Josh Borgwardt finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 7.50. Northside Freshman Christian Guerrero ran a personal best time of 7.70. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby fell coming out of the starting blocks, and then instantly recovered and ran a personal best time of 8.00.

 In the Varsity 1000m run, Northside Senior Cesar Rufino finished fifth overall with an outstanding time of 3:00.30. Cesar Rufino ran the first 200m in 30 seconds, and then ran 160m splits of 28, 28, 31, 32, and 31 for an official time of 3:00.30. Northside Junior Max McCoy ran a strong race, and finished sixth overall to complete the scoring to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding time of 3:01.1. Max McCoy ran the first 200m in 31 seconds, and then ran 160m splits of 28, 28, 31, 32, and 31 for an official time of 3:01.10.  

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in fourth place with an official time of 8.50. Fitzpatrick dropped 0.20 (8.70) from the 2013 Niles West Wolves Den Indoor Classic. Northside Junior Matt Osborne ran an outstanding time of 9.40. Osborne dropped 1.20 seconds (10.60) from the 2013 Niles West Wolves Den Indoor Classic.

 In the Varsity 50m Dash, Northside Junior Calvin Kuhnen ran an outstanding time of 7.20. Northside Junior Harry Winters ran an outstanding time of 8.00.

 Prior to Friday, the fastest Northside 800m Times ever run on the Niles West 160 meters Indoor Track were Patrick Brennan (2:09.40, 2013), and Wesley Laytham (2010, 2:11.0). 

 In the Varsity 800m run, Northside Junior Malcolm Grba ran an outstanding race and WON it with an official time of 2:06.80. Malcolm Grba ran EVEN 160m splits of 25, 25, 25, 25, and then ran the final 160m in 26 seconds for an outstanding time of 2:06.80. It was the fastest Northside time ever on the Niles West 160m Indoor Track.

 Northside Senior Simon Kafka finished in SECOND place to give Northside a total of 18 points scored in the 800m run with an outstanding time of 2:08.50. Simon Kafka ran 160m splits of 26, 25, 26, 26, and then ran the final 160m in 25 seconds for an outstanding time of 2:08.50.

 In the Varsity 4x160m Relay, Northside Junior Max McCoy exploded out of the blocks and ran the first 160m in an impressive 20.68 split, and made a nice exchange to Junior Joseph Dschida. Joseph Dschida ran a 23.88 160m split, and made a good exchange to Junior Calvin Kuhnen. Calvin Kuhnen ran a 21.57 160m split, and then made a good exchange to Junior Gabe Jimenez-Ekhman. Gabe Jimenez-Ekhman anchored the Mustangs to sixth overall to secure vital points for Northside with a 21.62 160m split for an official time of 1:27.75. imageimageimage
