 Prior to Wednesday, the fastest Northside 1600m run time at the Spartan Indoor Classic was a 4:46.20 (Patrick Brennan, 2013).

 The Northside School record for the 1600m run is 4:34.88. It was run on a 400m Outdoor Track at Niles West High School.

 On Wednesday, at Glenbrook North High School, Northside Junior Malcolm Grba ran the first 1280 meters of the race, at school record pace from the lead position on a 160m Track.

 Malcolm Grba WON the 1600m run with an outstanding time of 4:39.80. Malcolm Grba ran 160m splits of 26, 28, 28, 28, and 27 for an 800m split of 2:17. Malcolm Grba then ran 160m splits of 28, 29 (3:14 for 1120m), 27 (3:41 for 1280m), 30, and then ran the final 160m of the race in a NEGATIVE SPLIT of 28.80 seconds for an official time of 4:39.80. It was the fastest time ever run by a Northside athlete at Glenbrook North's 160m Indoor Track.

 Northside Sophomore Danny Rosen outkicked a Highland Park runner (4:50, third) to secure vital points for the Mustangs and finish in SECOND place with an official time of 4:48.00. Danny Rosen ran 160m splits of 27, 28, 29, 29, and 29 for an 800m split of 2:22. Danny Rosen then ran 160m splits of 31, 29, 29 (3:51 for 1280m), 29, and then ran the final 160m of the race in a NEGATIVE split of 28 seconds for an official time of 4:48.00.

 Northside Junior Adrian Black finished in fourth place with an official time of 5:02.00. Adrian Black ran 160m split of 30, 30, 30, 31, and 30 for an 800m split of 2:31. Adrian Black then ran 160m splits of 30, 30, 31 (4:02 for 1280m), 28, and then ran the final 160m of the race in 32 seconds for a season best time of 5:02.00.

 A Glenbrook North runner finished in fifth place to complete the scoring in an official time of 5:11.00. Northside Sophomore Matthew Gomez ran the first 800m in 2:39, and then ran the final 800m in an EVEN Split of 2:39 for an outstanding time of 5:18.00. Northside Senior Alex Gordon ran the first 800m in 2:39, and then ran the final 800m in 2:42 for an outstanding time of 5:21.90.

 In the Sophomore 1600m run, Northside Sophomore Sarrin Chethik finished in SECOND place with a personal best time of 5:27.00. Sarrin Chethik ran the first 800m in 2:42, and then ran the final 800m in 2:45 for an official time of 5:27.00. Northside Freshman Kyle Friedler finished in THIRD place with a personal best time of 5:32.00. Kyle Friedler ran the first 800m in 2:42, and then ran the final 800m in 2:50 for an official time of 5:32.00. Northside Freshman Brian McManus ran the first 800m in 2:48, and then ran the final 800m in 2:50 to finish in 5th place with an outstanding time of 5:38.00. Northside Freshman Alex Ortiz ran the first 800m in 2:48, and then ran the final 800m in 2:55 to finish in sixth place with a personal best time of 5:43.00.

After the Varsity 1600m run, the Team scores were: Northside 68, Highland Park 65, Glenbrook North 54, and Maine West 11.

Every point scored is vital to the success of the TEAM. The outcome of a Championship meet has come down to a single point on several occassions.

 In the 200m Dash, Glenbrook North Mutchik won it with an official time of 24.40. Glenbrook North O'Malley finished in second place with an official time of 24.80. A Glenbrook North runner finished in third place with an official time of 24.90. Northside Sophomore Steven Kataba finished in fourth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an official time of 25.60. A Highland Park sprinter completed the scoring by finishing in fifth place with an official time of 25.90. Northside Freshman Brandon Banas ran an outstanding time of 26.10. Northside Sophomore Keith Jones ran an outstanding time of 26.23. Northside Sophomore Garret Barch ran a personal best time of 28.30. Northside Freshman Christian Guerrero ran a personal best time of 31.49.

 After the 200m Dash, the Team scores were: Northside 70Glenbrook North 67, Highland Park 66, and Maine West 11.

 In the Thrower's Relay, Northside WON it with an official time of 1:31.18. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby ran the first leg of the relay with an impressive 21.18 160m split, and then made a good exchange to Northside Freshman Sergio Soto. Sergio Soto ran the second leg of the relay with a 23.87 160m split, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Jack Webster. Jack Webster ran the third of the relay in a 160m split of 23.71, and made a perfect exchange to Freshman Josh Borgwardt. Josh Borgwardt anchored the Mustangs to Victory with a 22.42 160m split for an official time of 1:31.18. Glenbrook North finished in second place with an official time of 1:34.03.

After the Thrower's Relay, the Team scores were: Northside 76Glenbrook North 71, Highland Park 66, and Maine West 11.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Highland Park won it with an official time of 3:47.00. Northside finished in SECOND place with an official time of 3:50.32. Northside Senior Simon Kafka ran a 56.64 400m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Junior Max McCoy. Max McCoy ran a 59.84 400m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Junior Porter Abbey. Porter Abbey ran a 57.89 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Junior Tom Frejowski. Tom Frejowski ran a 55.95 400m split to anchor the Mustangs to SECOND place with an official time of 3:50.32. Glenbrook North finished in third place with a 3:55.09.

 In the Sophomore 4x400m Relay, Northside Sophomore Max Guthmann dropped four seconds (69.30) with a personal best 400m split of 65.58 on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Miguel Garay. Miguel Garay ran the second leg of the relay in a 400m split of 73.52. Northside Freshman Vladimir Andrade ran the third leg of the relay in a 400m split of 80.58. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby dropped four seconds with a personal best 400m split of 69.50 for an official time of 4:48.88. 

After the Varsity 4x400m Relay, the FINAL TEAM SCORES: Northside 80Glenbrook North 73, Highland Park 72, and Maine West 11.

 In the 800m run, Northside Junior Tom Frejowski came from behind to WIN it with 160m splits of 25, 26, 28, 28, and then ran the final 160m in a NEGATIVE split of 27.60 seconds for an official time of 2:14.60. Northside Senior Cesar Rufino finished in SECOND place with 160m splits of 24, 26, 28, 28, and then ran the final 160m in 30.33 seconds for an official time of 2:16.33. A Highland Park runner finished in third place with an official time of 2:17.40. Northside Junior Max McCoy finished in fourth place with 160m splits of 26, 26, 28, 30, and then ran the final 160m in an EVEN split of 30.60 seconds for an official time of 2:20.60. A Highland Park runner finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:22.21. Northside Junior Nick Jean-Baptiste finished in sixth place with 160m splits of 26, 26, 28, 31, and then ran the final 160m in 33.60 seconds for a PERSONAL BEST time of 2:24.60.

 In the Sophomore 800m run, a Highland Park runner won it with an official time of 2:25.10. Glenbrook North runners finished in second (2:26.80), and third (2:29.50), respectively. Northside Sophomore Max Guthmann finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of 2:33.10. A Glenbrook North runner finished in fifth place with an official time of 2:34.1. Northside Freshman Sergio Soto ran an outstanding time of 2:39.80. Northside Freshman Miguel Garay ran a personal best time of 2:47.10. Northside Freshman Vladimir Andrade ran a personal best time of 3:08.90 

After the Varsity 800m Run, the Team scores were: Highland Park 49, Northside 42, Glenbrook North 38, and Maine West 11.

 In the Varsity 4x160m Relay, Highland Park won it with an official time of 1:17.95. Northside dropped 3 seconds (1:27.75) from the Niles West Wolves Den Indoor Classic, and finished in SECOND place with an official time of 1:24.43. Northside Sophomore Steven Kataba ran the first leg of the relay in a 160m split of 21.12, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Keith Jones. Keith Jones ran the second leg of the relay in a 160m split of 20.84, and made a good exchange to Sophomore Garret Barch. Garret Barch ran the third leg of the relay in a 160m split of 22.85, and made a nice exchange to Freshman Brandon Banas. Brandon Banas anchored the Mustangs to SECOND place with an impressive 19.62 160m split for an official time of 1:24.43. Glenbrook North did not finish the race after a baton was dropped during an exchange.

 After the Varsity 4x160m Relay, the Team scores were: Highland Park 55, Northside 46, Glenbrook North 38, and Maine West 11.

 In the Varsity 400m Dash, A Glenbrook North runner finished in 1st (54.30), 3rd (56.30), 4th (58.90), and 5th (61.00). Northside Senior Simon Kafka finished in SECOND place with an official time of 56.23.

 In the Sophomore 400m Dash, Northside Freshman Josh Borgwardt dropped 5.10 seconds (70.35) for a personal best time of 65.25. Northside Freshman Jack Webster ran an outstanding time of 68.51. Northside Freshman Christian Guerrero dropped 3.00 seconds (75.04) for a personal best time of 72.04.

 After the Varsity 400m Dash, the Team scores were: Highland Park 55, Northside 50, Glenbrook North 50, and Maine West 11.

 In the 55m Low Hurdles, a Highland Park hurdler won it with an official time of 8.10. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in SECOND place with an official time of 8.20. A Glenbrook North Hurdler finished in third place with an official time of 8.31. Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in fourth place with an official time of 8.70. A Highland Park hurdler finished in fifth place to complete the scoring. Northside Freshman Jack Nolan ran a personal best time of 11.17

 After the 55m Low Hurdles, the Team scores were: Highland Park 62, Northside 56, Glenbrook North 53, and Maine West 11.    

 On Saturday, February 15, 2014, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Henry Crown Field house at the University of Chicago for the Whitney Young Varsity Indoor Classic.

 Henry Crown Field house featured an athlete friendly atmosphere, upper deck seating, and the best 200m Indoor Track in Chicago. Henry Crown Field house has been the host to numerous National meets, and local Championship meets as well. The Varsity letter was invented in the1890s by Amos Alonzo Stagg as he was sitting on the entrance steps to Henry Crown Field house. The main wall of the stadium contains a list of field house records, which include several Olympians. The first Heisman Trophy winner (1935), Jay Berwanger is still listed on the all time list for Henry Crown Field house for the 55m dash. Henry Crown Field house is a Chicago landmark that is rich in Track & Field history.

  The Whitney Young Varsity Indoor Classic at Henry Crown Field house, featured St. Ignatius (finished 4th at the Class 3A IHSA State Track & Field Championships in 2013), Marshall, Kenwood Academy, Walter Payton, Northside College Prep, and host Whitney Young. The meet was complete with FAT timing. A special thanks to Whitney Young for hosting an outstanding meet.

 St. Ignatius won the meet with 121 points. Whitney Young finished in second place with 111 points. Northside finished in third place with 90.50 points. Walter Payton finished in fourth place with 67 points. Kenwood finished in fifth palce with 50 points. Marshall finished in sixth place with 20.50 points.

 Northside competed against the Top two Teams (St. Ignatius, Whitney Young) in their 2014 Class 3A IHSA Sectional and had a very BIG day.

 Individual points were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1. Relays were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2.

 In the Pole Vault, Whitney Young Junior Josh Terry won it with a vault of 9'6. Northside Senior Jay Yu finished in second place with a vault of 8'6. Northside Sophomore Brendan Powers finished in third place with a personal best vault of 7'6. Northside Junior Declan Galleher finished in fourth place with a personal best vault of 6'0.

 In the Shot Put, Walter Payton Senior Alex Shields won it with a throw of 43'8. Whitney Young Senior Peter Casey finished in second place with a throw of 40'9. St. Ignatius Senior Richard Podkowski finished in third place with a throw of 37'3. Kenwood Freshman Nicolas Williams finished in fourth place with a throw of 36'10. Whitney Young Sophomore Greg Franklin finished in fifth place with a throw of 36'05. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 34'10. Northside Senior Henry Lothschutz had an outstanding throw of 30'11.

 In the Long Jump, Marshall Junior Brandon Freeman won it with a jump of 18'9. St. Ignatius Senior Sheldon Pierce finished in second place with a jump of 18'1. Whitney Young Senior Triston Wilson finished in third place with a jump of 17'11.25. St. Ignatius Senior Enyi Asonye finished in fourth place with a jump of 17'02.75. St. Ignatius Rashaan Castillo finished in fifth place with a jump of 16'4.50. Northside Sophomore Piotr Wojcik finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a personal best jump of 15'6.50. Northside Freshman Artur Kozlowski had an outstanding jump of 13'10.

 In the Triple Jump, St. Ignatius Senior Sheldon Pierce won it with a jump of 41'6. Kenwood Senior Rhomel Fields finished in second place with a jump of 39'9.50. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in third place with an outstanding jump of 39'3.50. Kenwood Junior Michael Ross finished in fourth place with a jump of 38'10. St. Ignatius Sophomore Shawn Trimble finished in fifth place with a jump of 36'9.25. Whitney Young Senior Triston Wilson finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 36'1.50. Northside Sophomore Piotr Wojcik jumped a personal best 26'4.50. Northside Freshman Jack Nolan jumped 26'3.75.
