Every point scored is vital to the success of the TEAM. The outcome of a Championship meet has come down to a single point on several occassions.

 On Friday, February 21, 2014, Northside Alumni legend Mac Melto traveled with the DePaul Blue Demons to the Armory in New York to compete in the BIG EAST Indoor Conference Championships in the 400m Dash, 200m Dash, and 4x400m Relay.

 The BIG EAST Conference features NCAA Division I schools: Villanova, Marquette, Georgetown, DePaul, Xavier (Ohio), Butler, Providence, and St.Johns.

 On Friday, February 21, 2014, Mac Melto qualified for the BIG East Indoor Finals in the 400m Dash by finishing in fifth place (48.50) in the prelims. Mac Melto also qualified for the BIG East Indoor Finals in the 200m Dash by finishing in third place (22.13) in the prelims.

 On Saturday, Ferbuary 22, 2014, Mac Melto WON the BIG EAST Indoor Conference Title in the 400m Dash with an official time of 48.08.

 Mac Melto also finished in THIRD place in the 200m Dash Finals with an official time of 21.90.

 Mac Melto then anchored DePaul to the BIG EAST Indoor Conference Title in the 4x400m Relay with an official time of 3:14.23.

 Mac Melto was also named to the BIG East All-Academic Team.

 On Thursday, February 20, 2014, Northside Alumni legend Patrick Brennan upset Conor Durkin in the Quarter-Finals of the Bengal Bouts Boxing Tournament at the University of Notre Dame to advance to the Semi-Finals!

 In 2013, as a high school senior, Patrick Brennan qualified for the IHSA State Track & Field Championships in a record four events, 4x800m Relay, 800m, 1600m, and 4x400m Relay.

 Since the Fall, Northside Alumni legend Patrick Brennan has been receiving instruction and intense training as a member of the Notre Dame Boxing Team in preparation for the Bengal Bouts Boxing Tournament. 

 The Bengal Bouts is an annual charity boxing tournament with the mantra: "Strong Bodies Fight, that Weak Bodies May Be Nourished". In 2013, the tournament was broadcasted on ESPN3, and raised over $100,000.00 for Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh.

 The tournament is hosted by the Notre Dame Boxing Team and takes place at the Joyce Center at the University of Notre Dame. The Tournament was started by legendary Notre Dame Coach Knute Rockne.

 Patrick Brennan is in the 140 lbs division of the Tournament, and will fight in the Semi-Finals of the Tournament on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Joyce Center at the University of Notre Dame.

 On Wednesday, February 19, 2014, the Northside College Prep Varsity Mens and Sophomore-Freshman Boys Track Team traveled to Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois for the Spartan Indoor Classic.

 The Spartan Indoor Classic featured Central Suburban league powers, Maine West, Highland Park, and host Glenbrook North.   

 The meet was completed very efficiently, and had non-stop action on the Track, which put the crowd on their feet at all times, and created a fun atmosphere for all participating Teams. A special thanks to Glenbrook North Head Coach Scott Lasky, Coaches Steve Gross, and John Byrne for hosting an outstanding meet. 

  It was also a very friendly atmosphere as several reunions took place throughout the meet. Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon attended Glenbrook North from 1986-1990, and is a member of their athletic college wall of fame. 

 The meet was scored only on the Varsity level, in an effort to provide non-stop action on the track. The following point scale was used for individual events: 6-4-3-2-1, and 6-4-2 was used for scoring relays.

 In the Long Jump, Highland Park Shealtiem Isreal won it with a jump of 19'2.75. Glenbrook North Mason Rosenberg finished in second place with a jump of 18'7.5. Highland Park Keoshawn Shields finished in third place with a jump of 18'6.25. Northside Junior Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with a personal best jump of 18'4.25. Glenbrook North Matt Hayes finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 18'2.5. Northside Junior Matt Osborne jumped an outstanding 17'0.50. Northside Freshman Brian McManus jumped a personal best 15'5. Northside Freshman Brandon Banas jumped an outstanding 15'4.5. Northside Freshman Artur Kozlowski jumped an outstanding 14'6.5. Northside Sophomore Garret Barch jumped a personal best 13'8.75. Northside Freshman Jack Nolan jumped a personal best 11'7.

After the Long Jump, Team scores were: Highland Park 9, Glenbrook North 5, Northside 2, and Maine West 0.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Junior Porter Abbey WON it with a personal best jump of 39'2.25. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in SECOND place with an outstanding jump of 38'5.50. Glenbrook North Armani Carmikle finished in third place with a jump of 36'1.25. Glenbrook North Dave O'Malley finished in fourth place with a jump of 35'1. Northside Senior Jay Yu finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 33'10

 After the Triple Jump, the Team scores were: Northside 13, Glenbrook North 10, Highland Park 9, and Maine West 0.

 In the High Jump, Highland Park Israel won it with a jump of 5'10. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in SECOND place with a leap of 5'8. Glenbrook North Culbertson finished in third place with a jump of 5'6. Highland Park Cevant finished in fourth place with a jump of 5'6. Glenbrook North Carmikle finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 5'4. Northside Sophomore Garret Barch jumped a personal best 4'8. Northside Freshman Artur Kozlowski made three outstanding attempts at 4'8.

After the High Jump, the Team scores were: Northside 17, Highland Park 17, Glenbrook North 14, and Maine West 0.

 In the Shot Put, Maine West Ackeem won it with a throw of 40'8.5. Maine West Jakani finished in second place with a throw of 40'4. Glenbrook North Max Turner finished in third place with a throw of 39'3. Glenbrook North Joe Lee finished in fourth place with a throw of 39'2. Maine West Janak finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 38'3. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby threw an outstanding 34'11. Northside Senior Henry Lothschutz threw an outstanding 31'4. Northside Junior Declan Galleher threw an outstanding 26'0. Northside Freshman Jack Webster threw a personal best 23'10. Northside Freshman Sergio Soto improved over 5'0 (16'10) with a personal best throw of 22'1. Northside Freshman Josh Borgwardt threw a personal best 20'3. Northside Junior Harry Winters had a throw of 19'4.5.

After the Shot Put, the Team scores were: Glenbrook North 19, Northside 17, Highland Park 17, and Maine West 11.

 In the Pole Vault, Glenbrook North Shaun Killian won it with a vault of 12'0. Highland Park Alec Deer finished in second place with a vault of 11'6. Highland Park Shaun Knapp finished in third place with a vault of 11'0. Highland Park Strauss finished in fourth place with a vault of 9'6. Highland Park Justin Gunzel finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a vault of 8'6. Northside Senior Jay Yu vaulted an outstanding 7'6. Northside Junior Declan Galleher vaulted an outstanding 6'0.

After the Pole Vault, the Team scores were: Highland Park 27, Glenbrook North 25, Northside 17, and Maine West 11.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Sophomore Danny Rosen put Northside in the lead by running 160m splits of 23, 25, 25, 25, and then ran the final 160m in an EVEN split of 25.82 seconds for an 800m split of 2:03.82, and made a nice exchange to Senior Simon Kafka. Simon Kafka opened up the lead by running 160m splits of 25, 25, 26, 27, and then ran the final 160m in a NEGATIVE split of 24.89 seconds for an 800m split of 2:07.89, and made an exchange to Sophomore Matthew Gomez. Matthew Gomez ran 160m splits of 26, 26, 28, 32, and then ran the final 160m in a NEGATIVE split of 25.65 seconds for an 800m split of 2:17.65, and made an exchange to Junior Malcolm Grba. Malcolm Grba cruised to Victory with 160m splits of 24, 24, 27, 25, and then ran the final 160m in 26.23 seconds for an 800m split of 2:06.23 for an official time of 8:35.59Highland Park finished in second place with an official time of 8:44.70. Glenbrook North finished in third place to complete the scoring with an official time of 9:07.00.

 In the Sophomore 4x800m Relay, Northside Freshman Alex Ortiz ran an 800m split of 2:25.00 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Kyle Frielder ran an 800m split of 2:30.00 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Sarrin Chethik ran an 800m split of 2:31.00 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Brian McManus anchored Northside with a 2:31.92 800m split for an official time of 9:57.92 

After the Varsity 4x800m Relay, the Team scores were: Highland Park 31, Glenbrook North 27, Northside 23, and Maine West 11.

 In the 55m High Hurdles, Highland Park finished in 1st (7.81), and 2nd (8.11). Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in third place with an official time of 8.12. Northside Junior Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with an official time of 9.12. Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 9.30. Northside Junior Nick Jean-Baptiste finished in sixth place with a personal best time of 10.40. Northside Freshman Jack Nolan ran an outstanding time of 12.44. 

After the 55m High Hurdles, the Team scores were: Highland Park 41, Northside 29, Glenbrook North 27, and Maine West 11.

 In the 50m Dash, Glenbrook North finished in 1st (6.10), 3rd (6.20), and 4th (6.30) respectively. A Highland Park runner finished in 2nd (6.18). Northside Sophomore Steven Kataba finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 6.48. Northside Freshman Brandon Banas ran a personal best time of 6.63. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby ran a personal best time of 6.75. Northside Sophomore Keith Jones ran an outstanding time of 6.79. Northside Freshman Josh Borgwardt dropped 0.30 of a second (7.50) for a personal best time of 7.20. Northside Freshman Christian Guerrero ran a personal best time of 7.50. Northside Junior Harry Winters ran an outstanding time of 7.60.

After the 50m Dash, the Team scores were: Highland Park 45, Glenbrook North 38, Northside 30, and Maine West 11.
